Question Fireworks Viewing location

Hello folks

I am traveling down to Disneyland for a visit from from May 19 to the 23rd. I have my wife and two children 9 and 5 years old. I am hoping to get some personal opinions on where the best viewing areas are for Fireworks\Fantasmic and the parades.

We have no problem arriving early to get good seating as our kids are very patient and like to be bribed with candy.

Hopefully a few of you will respond with a bit of detail as I have not been down there for a long time (Space mountain was one year old) and do not know generalized areas very well.

Holy cow only 7 more sleeps for us

I like the hub the best. That would be the area where the statues of Walt and Mickey are displayed at the "center" of the park. Maybe a bit closer to the castle since there is so much going on during the show. And yes, definitely arrive early for seating. Last time we went we waited for just under 2 hours and had great seats, definitely worth it.

I 100% agree with Paola that in front of the Castle is the best and ideal viewing location for the fireworks. In front of It's a Small World is another great viewing location with far less people, on most occasions.

Thanks for the tips. I guess then we should bring a small blanket to sit on? I assume that we just plunk ourselves down on the road/walkway somewhere.

Basically the best views are straight on view of the castle and in the central hub. There will be alot of action and surprises that will happen around the hub and on the castle for the 50th fireworks.

Just like some of the earlier posts. The best spot is right behind the Walt & Mickey Statue in the center of the hub. If you got closer, you may end up having the castle actually obstruct the view of some of the fireworks launched from the ground at the backstage area.

If that spot is filled up, then just go further back and stand in the middle of main Street (between the Photo Supply/Refreshment Corner venues and where trolley track splits to circle around the hub). Just make sure you have clear view of the castle and sky behind it.

If its real crowded, then its better to watch it from the Tomorrowland side of the hub compared to the Adventureland/Frontierland side.

Another last resort is the Plaza Pavillion outdoor area closest between the sign and the Wall for the Tiki room waiting area.

Don't expect to move an inch for the next 5 minutes after the fireworks have ended and this is the time when many of the park guests rush towards the exits or Space Mountain. If you need to get to the Rivers of America (for Fantasmic, Critter country, New Orleans Square, Frontierland, & Adventureland attractions) then the only way to enter that area is through Frontierland. The Adventureland entrance will be closed to incoming traffic to allow the Fantasmic crowd to exit to Main Street.

Don't sit on the tracks though, especially the top part of the hub. That's where the trolley stop is, and that's also where i've seen the horses do their business most of the times, if you know what i mean.

And if all that fails, the show from the Main Street RR station (up the stairs) ain't too shabby. You miss the light show on the castle and the "effect" isn't the same (you'll understand when you see it), but it's a wonderful show from there. Someone who has seen it from both places posted and said some of the fireworks actually look better from that far back. It's the only place I've seen it from and I have no complaints. And if you get claustrophobic in crowds, that's not such a problem up there.
