I've had this discussion a lot with a few employee's and most importantly my husband. We've come to the conclusion that fastpass has made the lines at DL longer than before. The simple act of stopping the standby line to let in the fast pass holders is pure hell on the standby line (esp. Space Mountain). Logically, wouldn't the line move faster without it?
Then there's the simple fact that it probably won't be going away soon, so we use it any how, because we have no choice. The standby lines are crazy now. And, completely ... well simi-off topic... why don't the guests understand fastpass? Some people think its something they have to buy. Others don't get they can only have one at a time. And third, I've seen people getting fastpass for a ride with a 10 min. wait, completely destroying the concept of the system and ruining it for others. So, what do you think? |

I like the idea of the fastpass, when it is use proper, it can be a good friend, especially on crowded days. the wrost line for standby is autopia, that line never moves when FP holders are coming in. I think they should get rid of that one or change the policy. on SM I see they usually let equil numbers of standby guest as FP holders, that is the fair way to do this. I have also seen them at times do this on IJA. But not always!!!! it depends on the CM at the head of the line. I think DL needs to make some changes and cement there policy on how the CM's Control the 2 queues to make the system fair, equil, and practical on all rides. |

Wow, too bad PMM isn't here. I know he'd have A LOT to say on this topic!
Anyway, I really love FastPass. It gives me the opportunity to get on more rides, browse through shops and just soak up the atmosphere. It's available to everyone, so nobody should be complaining. If you choose not to use it, that's your own problem. I do agree though, that there needs to be stricter policies for the CMs that control the lines. Even when I have FP, I think it's insane how some CMs hold the stand-by line when there is hardly ANYONE in the FP line. I think if they had a somewhat equal amount of FP people and stand-by people going through, it would make it more fair for everyone. Oh, and I have to disagree about FP making the lines significantly longer. Even when FP hasn't been available on some rides, the lines are still really long. If anything, I think FP helps because then people who would have been waiting in the stand-by line are off somewhere else. |

I like fastpasses. Sometimes I get irritated when CM's let a whole lot of Fastpassers in while I'm waiting in line, but most of the time they work fine. I've been on BLAB like 8 times and I haven't waited in the stand-by line once. Most of the time they are helpful.

I'm of two minds on the subject. In theory, I'm against Fast Pass, and always have been. I hate the fact that it stops the standby line to let the Fast Passers on, which only exacerbates the already strong feeling that Disney employees treat us like cattle. It just makes the standby lines longer. I don't mind waiting in a line if I know it's moving at a pace dictated by the ride itself, and not by the employees. I like the democratic nature of lines without Fast Passes. Besides, on non-summer weekdays, the lines are never that long anyway.
Another problem is that, the more people that start using Fast Pass regularly (which is now quite a lot), the quicker they run out of them. Nowadays, you're lucky if you can even get one after 5:00 on some rides, which means you have to stand in the horrendous standby line (which I've sworn never to do again). On the other hand, when Fast Passes are available, they can be quite a lifesaver (or at least a sanity saver). Even though I hate Fast Pass, I always use it when it's available, because I hate the way they run the standby lines. But I'd prefer them to not have it at all, or least fix it to make it work better. I'm glad they took it away from a lot of the rides. |

it's true that fastpass does make the lines longer, but then again, why the heck would you stand in the lines anyways? unless you are at Disneyland for like 1 or 2 days on a vacation, make it a rule to stand in lines ONLY if they are below 45 min, if you can stand that long. Everything else (all big rides) try to get fastpasses for. in a full day you can get on most big rides by going through fastpass and get on a good deal of smaller rides (usually 1-3 during your wait for your fastpass depending on the time).
of course this applies to someone like myself who lives near Disneyland

My girlfriend and I have been going to Disneyland for years and and we've been there dozens of times since Fastpass was introduced and it's never done us wrong. As long as we plan ahead a little and arrive at the park fairly early in the day we are always able to ride all of our favorites multiple times even on very busy days. Maybe I've just been lucky but I've never had the feeling that I got screwed by the Fastpass line, even when I was in stand-by. I'm sure it could use a little adjusting for certain situations but I hope they keep Fastpass forever!

Quick question on this subject. What are the rides that allowyou to get multiple fastpasses? For example, can I hold 2 fastpasses for 2 diff rides? I knew there were a few a while back, I just forgot which rides this applies to.
thanks! |
