Before Jack Sparrow found his home in Pirates of the Caribbean, what was in the place where you can now find Jack sitting in a chair surrounded in treasure?

that would be the infamous Thurl Ravenscroft, who also is the ghost host. The other guys are Jay Meyer and Verne Rowe I believe.

What was Pirates of the Caribbean originally planned to be?

...I do believe the Ghost Host is voiced by Paul Frees. However, you are correct that Thurl Ravenscroft voices the bust with the deepest voice.

Thank you for explaining this. It's a bit confusing because 2 people are technically Madame Leota. Only 1 is "Lil' Leota".

I believe it was originally planned to be a pirate museum.

How did the idea of The Matterhorn Bobsleds came to Walt Disney and what attraction idea was replaced for it?

Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,

^to elaborate on that, it was supposed to be a walk-through attraction just like haunted mansion, I never actually asked my question so here it is: where is Walt Disney's barn? (this does not necessarily have to do with Disneyland but more just disney)

I just read about that the other day in walt disney's biography, it's called carolwood barn, and wasn't it in his backyard? It was used as a shop for his miniature railroad. Thats about all i know...

How come we are no longer able to go fishing off of tom sawyers island?

Guests did not want to carry around fish all day. The fish would constantly get thrown in the trash or put in lockers and would be left unclaimed.

What were the two themes first decided for a Haunted Mansion overlay?

yes it was in his backyard and he used it as a shop, now it is near traveltown in a little miniature railroad community I guess you could call it. When he died they completely took the barn apart, and rebuilt it, next time I go I will PM you pics of it if you would like :D

I actually have no idea... I didn't even know that they had other themes in mind... Could you enlighten my knowledge?

How much money was put into disneyland when it was first built from 1954-1955?

How many TIE fighters does the StarSpeeder 3000 shoot down over the Death Star? I asked this before, but no one answered it.

I should rephrase that. what other themes did they have in mind, but eventually decide against?

One was a Christmas Carol, but it was decided it would be odd to see in New Orleans. The other was the Night Before Christmas, but was deemed too odd to see Santa Claus at. Someone suggested Nightmare, and you know the rest.

And on to your current question... Gazebo?? Where's that at? You talking about the NOS Gazebo where the jazz bands play? I'm guessing Main Street/Town Square.

Disneyland used to have paperboys who used to sell monthly newspapers on Main Street to enforce the theme of being on an actual turn-of-the century street (they should still do this). Amongst who was one of them and what is his influence on Disney today?

My thoughts too, what Gazebo?

Thanks for the tidbit about the paperboys. I never knew this.
