Correct me if wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it was Herb Ryman who turned the upper-part of the model around. Walt then walked in (before the model designer could place the model in its original position) gave it the "thumbs up", and so construction went on with the upper-part of the castle backwards (but now forward).

Props of the past:
In the queue for Star Tours, just below where the one robot is fixing the Artoo droid you will see another droid looking at an oddly shaped box similar in design to the Space Mountain sign. That is an old prop from the Innerspace ride that used to be out in the middle of the curving pathway where C-3PO is. Also an Ewok stuffed toy is supposedly in one of the baskets up above.

More props from the past:

Max, Buff & Melvin from Country Bear Jamboree are still insode The Many Adventures of Pooh. Just look up and behind you as you enter the Hunny Room -- they're over the doorway.

Hehehe I wasn't trying to spark argument, just making sure that we're 100% correct, and thorough! We don't want to be mislead, now, do we?

PROP OF THE PAST Melvin, Buff, and Max (from Country Bear fame) can be seen in the Winnie the Pooh attraction. After leaving the Heffalumps and Woozles scene, turn your head, facing backwards, and look up! Keep looking! You should see them, hanging on a wall, where normally, you wouldn't see them if you were to ride the ride facing forward!

HIDDEN MICKEY On one of the shields in the Matterhorn queue building, there is a small Mickey silhouette. Have fun figuring out which one it is... All I know i that it's red and white, and possibly has a key on it! And I'm fairly certain it's on the Tomorrowland-side... But it could be the Fantasyland-side... Have fun finding it!

FUN FACT In the pond, west of Big Thunder Mountain, they have fake-fish occasionally leap out of the water. It's quite humorous!

FUN FACT If you look above New Orleans Square (over Club 33/Le Bat en Rouge) you'll see a mast of a ship. This was put there to give off the idea that the city is near a large port.

In the back of the outdoor dining area of Rancho del Zocalo one can see the sign "Mineral Hall" on one of the facades. This was the old site of the Mineral Hall exhibition which showcased exotic rocks and minerals which glowed under black light. The minerals were sold there along with black lights so guests could re-create the show at home.

Mineral Hall was open at Disneyland from July of 1956 until December of 1962.

I may have mislead in my wording... The prop didn't sit were C-3PO stands now, there were about 5 or so of these props with little windows showing vignettes of various things themed to Innerspace. They were located in that center section between the curving queue where you enter and where the Starspeeder is.

well, no we don't. but usually I've seen two people disagree on this site, then they lead into an argument, then the topic eventually gets closed.

and Timmy, don't forget the fact that Big Thunder Mountain was planned for Florida first, but then added to California a year before Florida's debuted!

and, Ex, I know what you mean about it not being where C3PO is.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet because I haven't browsed the longer posts, but:
Hidden Character - As you first enter the line of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, look up into the rafters. I don't remember where exactly it is, wether it's over the line or over the ride track, but there is a large bust of Mr. Toad nestled into the rafters. I'm fairly certain he is facing you when you enter. :)

Oh, and the star wars geek inside me is making me say this: It's actually R-2, not Artoo. :D

^really? it's not Artoo? I've seen merchandise that says it. I know it's R2D2, but I've seen merchandise spell it like that (they just put it as Artoo, and not the whole thing), so thanks!

and the Hidden Mr. Toad hasn't been put down yet, so you're pretty much safe :D

The Briar Patch store in Critter Country used to be the Indian Trading Post when the Indian Village used to occupy that real estate. It was built is 1962 when the village was remodeled and expanded. The Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes used to be the Indian War Canoes. So the canoes and the Briar Patch building are all that is left of the old Indian Village attraction which closed in 1971 to be converted to Bear Country.

Ok, I'm going to start some references on Muppet Vision:

Prop of the Past - Outside the theater are some blue pipes. These pipes used to have painted faces on them, referencing Jim Henson. When Jim, Frank Oz, and someone else (I forgot who it was, but I'm thinking Jerry Nelson) guest starred on a show (forgot what it was) in an NBC Studio, I don't know the exact story, but I think they were in a closet, when they painted faces on everything. One of the show's officials came, he said "This is (insert name here)." (I forgot his name.) And they were all, "Oh, sure you're him," thinking he was joking. But when they opened the door, it was no joke. Rumor has it, that closet has survived to this very day.

Trivia Fact - Can you name all the movie poster parodies?

Trivia Fact - Muppet Vision 3D was one of the opening day attractions of California Adventure and was one of the many duplicated from Disney's MGM Studios (Now Disney's Hollywood Studios). Despite being duplicated from Florida, the showbuilding and hallway gags are very different.

Hidden Mickey - In the Pre-Show film, Scooter comes by with a lab coat on and a nametag with Mickey on it.

Decor Mickeys - There are two Mickey references within the whole attraction. One being Rizzo dressing up and trying to pass off as Mickey Mouse in the pre-show, the other being the very end of the film with Waldo C. Graphic also trying to disguise himself as Mickey (this time more elaborately, complete with Wayne Allwine (RIP) supplying the voice), only to be vaccumed up by the VacuMuppet.

Hidden Characters - Scooter doesn't have any main film appearances, right? Wrong. He and Janice make a brief cameo, as a tribute to Richard Hunt, since he couldn't be there. Richard Hunt actually dubbed all his character's lines, save for those of Sweetums, whose lines were done by John Henson.

Trivia Fact - The Swedish Chef's job remains as the film projector runner from the Muppet Movie.

Trivia Fact - The theater is, of course, replicated from the show. However, some details from the show are missing such as the second-story balcony, to allow viewing for the Swedish Chef's film projector.

Trivia Fact - When the war between the Chef and the penguins happens, Statler and Waldorf duck and each wave white flags in the air. That's not their actual arm: those arms are actually attatched to the rail of the box.

Trivia Fact - Wanna know a memorable Waldorf quote? Here goes:

Waldorf: Oooh! Aaah! OOOO!!
Statler: Enjoying the fireworks?
Waldorf: No, your chair is on my foot!

Despite being the fact this was Jim's last performance as Kermit, Waldorf, and many others, this quote was actually added in later after Jim passed.

Trivia Fact - All but two AA's are only built full-body (some penguins who light the cannon aimed for the chef).

Trivia Fact - Take a look at the Muppet Theater's ceiling. Not much detail like in the TV show, huh? This is to actually help the show. There's a disco ball to project Waldo around the theater ("Now I can start my own football team!"), some water sprinklers (handy for fires, and handier for when Fozzie does the squirting flower), and a bunch of catwalks.

Hidden Characters - Watch Sam the Eagle's "Salute to All Nations (But Mostly, America) finale. Some of the Muppets are patterned after dolls in IASW.

Hidden Logo - The firetruck has a liscence plate with a logo similar to that of the Walt Disney Pictures logo (pre 2006).

Trivia Fact - According to Tough Pigs, only two of the AA's in the theater are built above the waste: the penguins that fire the cannon aimed at the Chef. My theory is, so you sense that they aren't realistic humans like Captain Jack or Melanie of Phantom Manor.

Trivia Fact - According to Tough Pigs.com, there are actually two chefs inside the projector room. One is Chef with his gun, the other just has Chef.

I could go on, but this could take a while, so I'll go on tomorrow or some other time

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room is the only attraction to ever be funded by Walt Disney personally. He was so dedicated and enchanted with the concept of it (as well as the introduction of AA's) that he personally funded it. That is why it is called "Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room." It's literally his. Unlike any other attraction at the park, it's was all Walt's. So in that regard, it's a truely unique attraction. Just remember folks it's "Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room" not just "The Tiki Room."

Don't cut Walt short.
