Disneyland Railroad News Flash!

Well, I guess things have been busy around the old roundhouse...

No. 1 is having her builder's plates installed today (the engine is out for its monthly boiler wash). Look for them in about a week. The left-side plate will also be installed on the Ward Kimball (locomotive #5) soon, if it's not there already.

Apparently No. 4 (Earnet S. Marsh) is ready to roll...Except that there are problems with the wiring for the cab signals, which may keep it off the line for a few more weeks.

February looks like the month for the Fred Gurley's (locomotive #3) departure to parts currently unknown for rehab (or rebuild). Estimates say about a 1 to 2 year until her return.

There are plans in place to pull the Holiday Blue (500 series) cars off the line for a year-long rehab.

There are flat wheels on cars 205 and 208 (208 is the caboose) of the Holiday Red (Fright Train). As of now, there are plans to remove a few good trucks from the Blue when it comes off-line, and install those in place of the offending wheelsets on the Red.

Lilly Belle News: The car is scheduled to come back to Disneyland on FRIDAY!! But don't expect to see it anytime before December. Interior work like re-carpeting still needs to be done.

Word is the car will have BRASS marker lamps (lights on the back on the last car on train) upon her return! Hmm Classy!

I just watched an old clip of Walt Disney riding on His Lilly Belle on the second DVD of Alice in Wonderland. I was looking for a trivia question. I wish I could see The Lilly Belle while I'm there next week.

Really, it's about time somebody started to love that ride! I actually love it too (not as much though)! I love the smell of the engine, the old sound of the recorded narration, the sound and feel of the train on the go...yes, I never knew how much I loved the Railroad!

Nice update on the Disneyland Railroad.
I enjoyed riding the train round the park and I always end my day riding on the classie trains.

GOOD REASON: They should update the Railroad Tunnel to be more themed to Tomorrowland, which it actually runs through. Maybe they could add a section of diarama to each attraction, like a Star Tours section, Buzz Lightyear section, and I know everyone wants a Space Mountain section! THEY ALSO NEED TO PUT A/C IN THERE! Have you noticed how hot and stuffy that cave is in Summer? JEEZ!
Well if anyone thinks that's a bad idea, at least make the show more realistic and with better effects (and A/C!).

BAD REASON: Lots and lots and LOTS of fans true to the original would go BALLISTIC! We would have riots everywhere and the apocalypse would come! Well...not really, but I'm sure a lot of mad people would write angry letters.

Update: The Builder plate for Locomotive #1 has now been put on, looks great.
Locomotive #1 will be out next weekend.

Locomotive #4 will be also out within the next few weeks in time for Thanksgiving crowds.

Lilly Belle News Flash:

Lilly Belle Car will be on Disneyland property on the 18th of November, but the Car will not be out till Christmas.

Update: One of the Disneyland Tours MIGHT be able to sit(part of the tour) in the Lilly Belle Car when it returns, not sure which one though.

I like riding the train at night when SW is holiday lit up. It goes
real slow through there since you are just leaving toontown station and
it feels like you are part of the display. Hey wait...you ARE part of the display at that point. Soon !!!

I really love the railroad, and all trains for that matter. My favorite trainset is the Excursion III. I like the way it faces forward like a real train.

It's not very true that the fans will go nuts. If that was true there would have been a rebellion against the new music in Space Mountain (which isn't nearly as good as the original).

Update: The Earnest S. Marsh (Locomotive#4) has finally returned after a year long rehab.

Also Lilly Belle will be at Disneyland Saturday!
