PMM I completely Agree!i stand on the lines of yes adding change to the park where it is needed (EX:Golden Dreams, and Nemo and others) but to change classic and (to me) Turning points in Disneyland History. Lets take a look at the ones i particularly would have liked to stay "untouched":

Pirates of the Caribbean: This was the last attraction that Walt saw completed before he passed. truthfully, that should have been the very first ride to not be invaded with Jack Sparrow. Yes the movies have made a lot of money and they are very popular, but so is HSM and if a ride is merely added for them just due to their popularity, then we might as well knock down some buildings and make the DLR bigger to fit them. I will still ride POTC even though i believed the additions were unnecessary, but i do think that this ride should have held through without additions to it.

The Country Bear Jamboree: Oh my dear friends, how they should have not been torn from their stages to make way for.... something else. While watching a CBJ history DVD, it has come clear to me how much Walt wanted the bears to be made. With the constant trying at Mineral King, to the idea being nearly scrapped all together, Walt wanted the bears somewhere in one of his parks. So Roy decided to bring it over to WDW because their was simply room for them (at the time). DLR eventually got the bears with the removal of the Indian Grounds and the addition to Bear Country. The bear's popularity was saved with the addition to Splash Mountain (CC) and the use of the Holiday season to create an entirely new show. this popularity was spread to the Haunted Mansion and IASW. The removal of a 15 minute ride with the replacement of a 5 minute ride, Pooh's once "sweet revenge" only lasted a few years. His meet and greet area is longer than the actual ride itself, and begins to show similar signs that the country bears had when he was there. The Pooh attraction lacks the size of paw that it takes to fill such big shoes. The bears still are in WDW and TDL and don't show signs of leaving. I believe that with Walt's last concept for an attraction being brought to life, it should should be at his Original park, and kept there like you would have any lasting Disneyland image (Sleeping Beauty Castle). Although their return has been rumored from their 8 year "hibernation" the resort fails to make room at DCA for these beloved bears that Walt would have probably loved to stay put.

The Enchanted Tiki Room is the only attraction at the park with the name of "Walt Disney's" written above it. this to me feels like a permanent marking of safety. The Tiki room has it high points and low points of popularity, but with that name hung at it's entrance, it cannot be touched. and this was truly a breaking point in the construction of Disney attractions with the use of Audio-Animatronics (YAY), and how important of a role they play in the many resorts around the world. giving it all the better reason to stay "untouched." BUT NOTICE!! in WDW they have a "Tiki room" but this one, not named with "Walt Disney's" giving them the chance to add new characters!

So I'm not sure if that means ALL attractions that are meaningful to Walt, all had his name posted on the attraction's title, because that is the only one i can think of that has not been touched since. anyways, i end my explanation. of course there are many other reasons for change in the parks this one i find to most valid.

I agree with a lot of what you said up there. Let's just hope the Tiki Room doesn't get into the swing of things by adding Disney characters like Iago, Zazu, and Stitch.

The one thing that kind of makes me mad about this whole refurbishment is the fact that what many angry fans don't realize is that we still have It's a Small World. Disney could have easily decided to pull the plug on the attraction and put in some Pixar ride or something. But no, Disney knows the attraction is popular among guests and fans so they decided to leave it, but just spice things up a bit. The big guys at Disney can choose the fate of an attraction with a flick of the wrist and they decided to leave it for us, thank heavens.

Instead of hating the changes we should be grateful for them. I'm not saying that you have to love them, or you can't hate them, but we should just be grateful that the attraction has been around for so long. It's been at Disneyland for over forty years now, and I'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I agree with you, MEW. I think we should all be thankful that it's there. Personally, I'd rather have the ride be there with the changes than to have the ride not be there at all.

I loved that post it was great towergal,
losing rides do suck almost like losing a family member, lol. I do but i dont completely like the new changes with the DLR. especially small world. I believe in "why fix something that wasnt broken." The reason most families come to disneyland is because parents want to show kids what they saw through thier own eyes when they were little.

even though the additions were creative yet, not needed.

and lets hope and pray that they dont go adding anything to the tiki room... knock on wood(:

Well, maybe it's just that there's no escaping them. At all. And some of us (not me, necessarily, but a lot of people) are just sick and tired of it.

Then again, there is no escaping Haner Montaner or High School Musical or anything of that ludicrous caliber, either.
