Question Candlelight Procession 2008

Any news? Are they doing it again? Same dates (first full weekend in December)? Tickets available when?

If they're doing it, my husband would love it and I don't want to miss the ticket availability date (or has it passed? That would be just my luck!)

Yes, they are doing it. It's December 6th and 7th. I don't think the tickets go on sale this early.

I don't think I've heard of this before. What's the procession for?

I was waiting for someone who has seen it to reply, but I'll give you what I know.

The procession is down Main Street and consists of area choirs, in robes I believe, singing traditional Christmas carols. They end up at the steps of the Main Street Disneyland RR Station where they form a "human Christmas Tree" and continue to sing. There is also and orchestra there. There is always a famous guest speaker who reads the biblical account of the Nativity. The guest speaker changes every year. Last year it was Jane Seymour. You will see who it is announced sometime in early November probably. The event is unadvertised and has been going on since Walt was alive. It was his idea. There is reserved seating - limited - in Town Square for a fee. It can be combined with dinner and the price of the tickets vary depending on what restaurant. The tickets sell out very fast. You don't need to reserve a seat to see it and there are two shows each night. The Candlelight Processional causes the parade time to change on those days.

Indeed, Disney Babe is completely accurate with her information. It begs adding, however, that Priority Seating costs upwards of fifty dollars and is dinner-inclusive at a mid-range DLR Restaurant ("nicer" plans with meals at say, the Napa Rose, go for up to $125, if I recall correctly). The ticket does NOT include park entry. If you decide not to pre-order tickets, be aware that seating is VERY limited - as in, a few benches on either side of Town Square - and they will be occupied by noon on both days by people waiting to see the Processional.

There's a lot of standing room though, in front of the Opera House, City Hall, and the surrounding area of the Square that doesn't have benches. I've seen it every year since 2003 (2002 I was in it) and it really is something you must go see. Even my boyfriend (who works for Disney) didn't realize how amazing it was until I forced him to watch it with me. :)

The Candlelight is an amazing experience, and if you have the chance to see it, I would highly recommend it.

I prefer to stand in front of the Firehouse. You get a great view from there.

Year before last, we purchased the Candlelight Dinner package and it was fantastic. The choices for dinner included Storyteller's Cafe, Hooke's Pointe, and Yamabuki. We chose Hooke's Pointe. The dinner was a set menu, but very good. The only downside was having to rush from the Disneyland Hotel to the park in time for seating. We hope to do it again this year (last year we had a scheduling conflict). In the past, they have opened the reserved seating packages to Annual Passholders first.

Oh wow I thought this was like a private event. But from what Disney Babe says its out in the open. Totally cool! Do you have to camp out along Main Street like it's done for the parades or do you show up at a certain time frame?
Thanks :D

Seems like a better deal to stand, maybe. I want to see it!

You have to camp out hardcore if you want a bench -- like Disney Babe said, they're gone by noon. I camped out one year from 3:30 pm on. Totally worth it, though.

It's funny because it's not really announced so much, so when people are at DL that weekend and are walking by while it happens, they're all :OOOO and the CMs are all "keep moving!" and it's kind of amusing. :)
