Default America Sings!

I was listening to the soundtrack of "America Sings!" a couple nights ago, and I never realized just how great it is! I wasn't around to see it, but I've seen videos of it and I adore it. Is anyone else a fellow fan or is interested in it?

I wish I could see it. I'm not sure if I saw it or not in person.

Nope. You weren't born when they took it out. I remember it, but not watching it. I remember watching the building turn, but I can't remember going in it. Weird. I have a bunch of photos and my parents say I saw the show. Hmmmm..... I smell a conspiracy.......

I'm pretty sure it was gone before I was born. I don't know if I would've liked it or not because those animals that are now in Splash Mountain are just too creepy.

Talking musical revue

Well the characters weren't just staring at you, each one had her own musical number, like a vaudeville musical revue. They would come out from behind set elements or rise up from the floor of the stage and do their acts. It was very funny.

I am in love with America Sings even though I'm too young to remember seeing it. I love the music and the whole show was really well done.

Someone has a video around here... or, at least had a video around here. It's really good!

I love, love, love America Sings! I used to have the album and a read along book. I would love to hear those songs again, and see the video.. guess I'll scour the boards and see if I can find it.

I also used to have an album of small world, where a narrator described each country and it too had a read along book. These were both large 33 1/3 albums, not the smaller ones. Anyone remember them? I'm assuming my parents must have bought them on one of our trips to the park, but I'm not sure.

I saw the show many times. And in listening to the cd I was reminded how much I hated that annoying little critter that kept appearing with "POP! goes the weasle. HEEEHEEHEEE!"

I never got to see America Sings, and I never heard the soundtrack. I guess I'll have to check it out someday.

I still have mine in a crate in the basement. They were great! I loved those LPs. The it's a small world one was great because you could hear each country separately, instead of all smooshed together into a big fat musical burrito.

BTW you can get those albums on cd at the park, by special order. You have to ask for them. I wish they'd re-release The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean ones. They were awesome too.

I want to ask you... Did your AMERICA SINGS! album have the attraction on side 1 and silly Burl Ives songs on side 2? Mine did, but the re-issue I got on CD only has the attraction divided into two tracks and no bonus songs. I just wondered... I loved side 2 as much as side one
.

I can't remember if it did or not, but I wouldn't be surprised, it sounds vaguely familiar. I seem to remember listening to a lot of burl ives as a kid! LOL Not real cool I guess, but between America Sings and a Christmas album of his I played all year, his voice is a fond childhood memory.

Btw, I did find my way to the video goodies section and found RU42 video of America Sings. I can't wait to show my kids!

I love this website and the boards, I'm so glad I found it. I'll be telling another friend about it too, he collects Disney music and has albums somewhere in the thousands!
