What is a Sock Puppet, and why should I care?

A sock puppet is an additional account created by a pre-existing member for various reasons. The following are examples of a sock-puppet:

1. A person is banned and creates another account.

2. A person creates another account to give the illusion people agree with him/her in a thread, or otherwise lend support.

3. A person creates another account to have two accounts, one as a Junior Member (access to arcade) and another as an adult.

4. A person creates another account to 'start fresh' when they realize people don't like them.

5. A person creates another account to 'bump' their requests to the top on VF Radio Requests.

All of the above are against VF Guidelines. The VF Software has the ability to detect multiple accounts eminating from the same computer (not just the same IP address, which can change constantly). Accounts detected as eminating from the same computer are investigated and often banned if we feel the account was created to create mischielf or circumvent other VF Guidelines.

If you have a multiple account that warrants explanation (additional family member, etc), please nofity us immediately to avoid having both accounts banned. More than two accounts eminating from a single computer results in immediate banning.

VF takes online safety and the enforcement of our guidelines very seriously. Don't risk your free access to VF by making a poor choice.
