Default Michael Jackson burial (NOT) near Walt Disney

Michael Jackson to be buried near Walt Disney

Edit: this article has proved to be incorrect. Michael Jackson was buried at the Great Mausoleum, on the other side of the property from the location of Walt Disney's grave.

Michael Jackson Burial
Freedom Mausoleum, Forest Lawn Glendale

The National Ledger
Michael Jackson will be buried close to two of his idols - Walt Disney and Three Stooges actor Larry Fine. Family sources said the King of Pop will be laid to rest near the pair at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

Jackson is set to be entombed in the Freedom Mausoleum at the cemetery tomorrow night. Disney is buried in a garden just outside the two-storey structure, while Fine - best known as wise-cracking Larry of comedy act The Three Stooges - lies inside the mausoleum's first floor. Jackson was going to be entombed at the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn, but loved ones switched gears to get him near Disney and a Stooge.

"The family believed this is what Michael would have wanted," a close family friend revealed.

Aww how amazing! Getting to be buried next to two of your idols. Now three legends will be buried there.

I think this is the perfect final resting place for him. How thoughtful of his family to make this happen for him. I am truly touched.

Eh. I never really liked Michael Jackson. It's cool that Walt was one of his idols, though.

Actually, Michael Jackson is entombed in the Great Mausoleum, not the Freedom Mausoleum, where Walt Disney's ashes are buried (near the entrance). Same cemetery, yes, but not the same mausoleum.

Jason is right. I've just found several articles that say Michael Jackson's burial took place at the Great Mausoleum, not the Freedom Mausoleum. Find A Grave also lists him there.

Looking at the map of the grounds on the Forest Lawn website, I can see that those two structures are not in any way near eachother. They'er on opposite sides of the property.

That article I posted was completely incorrect. I apologize.

You're forgiven, Ezra. I still believe it's great that he's even buried in the same cemetery as his two idols.

If any of you have never been to that cemetery, I suggest going. It is a maze for sure but the grounds are spectacular with things from all over the world. Very beautiful setting. There is a ton of history in that cemetery alone. I have some pics in my gallery of some of the things by Walt's grave.

Well, at least he's still buried in the same cemetery as them. That's still something to be proud of.
