Disney half marathon to snarl downtown Anaheim traffic

Orange County Register
Motorists should plan to avoid downtown Anaheim Sunday morning – two dozen roads and throughways will be closed to make way for the Disneyland Half Marathon.

The race is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. The course will take runners through Disney’s California Adventure to Disneyland Park, and then onto the streets of Anaheim, past the Honda Center, along the Santa Ana Trail, around Angel Stadium, and back through California Adventure and the Downtown Disney.

i will be running in this with my brother and brother in law, they are both out of shape and a little more round then they would like so i'm going to run in this with them to support them...

Haha I have this visual of Two round guys similar to Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in jogging suits leaning on you through the whole marathon. Serious case of the giggles, even though I'm sure that's not at all what you meant! hahaha

New records in Disneyland Half Marathon


Records fall in third Disneyland Half Marathon
13,500 runners participate in 13.1-mile race this morning through Disneyland, Anaheim landmarks

Orange County Register
Runners raced through Disneyland and other Anaheim landmarks during the third annual Disneyland Half Marathon in record time today, breaking course records in Men's Women's and Master's divisions.

John Lucas, a marketing specialist for a sports apparel company in Eugene, Ore. crossed the finish line of the third annual Disneyland Half Marathon ahead of the field 13,500 runners with a record time, knocking two full minutes off last year's winning time.

Despite having to start at the back of the pack after losing her race chip, Mary Akor, 31, of Gardena turned in a record-setting performance in the Women's Division, finishing in 1:19:24.

Kevin Broady, 45, of Brea, who won 2007 Disneyland Half Marathon, won the Master's Division (age 40+) with a record time of 1:13.26. Edith Martinez, 40, of Brea was the top women's Master's finisher with a division record time of 1:28:29.

Ralph Pieplenbos, 55, of Monrovia won the men's Half Marathon wheelchair division. Kristen Messer, 21, of Austin, Texas won the women's Half Marathon wheelchair division.

A little more than a year ago, Kyle Wright weighed 406 pounds and was addicted to Milky Ways and In-n-Out Double-Double's. "If someone told me I'd be running a half marathon," he says, "it would have been a punch line to a joke."
