Default Disneyland Hotel renovation

Disneyland Hotel renovation

Landmark Disneyland Hotel to Undergo Significant Renovation
Historic hotel to feature considerable changes to guest rooms, exterior

Disneyland Resort Newsroom
Beginning in August 2009, Southern California’s landmark Disneyland Hotel will start a significant renovation project that will include major improvements to its guest rooms and considerable changes to the exterior of the hotel. The hotel will remain open during the renovation, which will be conducted in phases, and is scheduled to be completed in 2012.

Disneyland Hotel’s renovated guest rooms will feature an all-new contemporary look with exquisite Disney touches woven into the décor. When completed, guest rooms will boast new flat screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, safes capable of holding laptop computers and new state-of-the-art telephone, cable and wireless Internet connections.

Upgrades to plumbing, electrical and heating and air conditioning systems also are included in the project. The renovation will include energy efficient upgrades. The use of occupancy sensors in guest rooms, low-flow toilets, energy efficient light bulbs and paint low in volatile organic compounds are just a few more of the ways that the hotel will offer guests a “green” lodging experience.

I just hope with all the modern upgrades that they don't lose the "magic" that made it the Disneyland Hotel. If upon completion of the renovation I feel like like I am in the Grand Californian, I will be so disappointed.

Yeah. I have to agree with you there Piglet. But it is about time they do some upgrades to the major facilites in the hotel. i.e. toilets, plumbing, electrical. At least we know they are not tearing down any of the towers and rebuilding them, plus they are doing this while remaining open. Good for them. Gotta keep the income flowing somehow.

Sounds like it is going to be very nice. I wonder how much the prices will go up compared to surrounding hotels?
We stayed there once and I really hated to give them a bad review on Expedia, but it was just short of awful. Don't want to get into it but was very disappointed. Like PPH better.

Go figure they start in AUGUST.... For the first time ever, my family is staying at the Disneyland Hotel, when we go in AUGUST.... Haha I'm sure no serious damage'll be inflicted yet! I agree with you Piglet. Keep the nostalgia of it all.... Though I've never stayed there, I do tour the grounds/lobby when we go, and I love it. Maybe (if the best interest of my parents are held, and if wishing upon a star works for them) they'll bring back the old pagodas!

Sweet! And this is great news for me because they're gonna discount their prices during renovation and that means it'll be much easier for me to get to CA sometime!

^Ara like the new avatar!

Its been a couple of years since I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. Every stay has been a great experience. I do like the charm of the Hotel and hope that they keep its nostalgic charm as a couple have said already. Discounts during the renovation is great, more stays can be planned.

Thank you! I made it last night!

And I've never had the pleasure of staying so I REALLY hope it still keeps that charm, if not for fans like us, then for everyone to visit after us.

I've never stayed there either. The new headboards sound amazing. Maybe I will wait to sty there until the renovations are complete.

All the improvements described in the press release sound great to me. I love the Disneyland Hotel, but there is no doubt that the exteriors of the towers could use some work. They are really starting to show their age.

It sounded like Disney is going to work on only one tower at a time. If they start with the Dream Tower and it will be finished in June of 2010, then this would be a nearly 3 year project.

I can see why they are starting with the Dream Tower first since it's the most visable from Downtown Disney. Anyway, if this press release was designed to create public enthusiasm for this project, it worked on me.

*Drinks Disney Kool-Aid* Ah....so good. More please....

Landmark Disneyland Hotel to Undergo Significant Renovation
Significant Guest Room Upgrades, New Room Amenities and Enhancements

Disneyland Resort Newsroom
Disneyland Hotel’s renovated guest rooms will feature an all-new contemporary look with exquisite Disney touches woven into the décor.
Rooms also will feature black and white art that will take guests back in time, reinforcing the nostalgia and history of Walt’s first theme park.
When completed, guest rooms will boast new flat screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, safes capable of holding laptop computers, and new state-of-the-art telephone, cable and wireless Internet connections.
A stunning new headboard that features an artistically carved representation of Disneyland Park’s famous Sleeping Beauty Castle will serve as the focal point in each guest room. The background on the headboard uses fiber optics to create a magical skyline with fireworks – bringing the immersive park experience into the room.

The Disneyland Hotel renovation is a part of a larger expansion project underway throughout the resort. The four-star Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is also undergoing an expansion, adding 200 hotel rooms and 50 two-bedroom villas that are part of Disney Vacation Club, which will make its first West Coast debut when it opens in the fall of 2009.

WOW.. I love that headboard! I want one. LOL.
I really would love to stay at the DL Hotel again sometime. I haven't stayed there since I was a kid when there still was an underwater arcade center. Gosh I miss that.

Wow-that is impressive. I want that headboard too! I don't care if it's bigger then my room...I would make it fit somehow! Haha

The rooms look very sophisticated and magical. I SO want to stay there after the renovation now. Thanks for the photos.
