Default Disney Gallery reopens at DL

The Disney Gallery reopens at Disneyland

The Disney Gallery Reopens At Disneyland Resort

Disney Parks Blog
If you loved The Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square, you won’t want to miss the new one in the former Bank of Main Street, U.S.A., opening today at Disneyland Resort. Disney’s prized artwork is now more secure than ever as special highlighted work will actually be on display in the original bank’s vault.

The Disney Gallery will feature Walt Disney Imagineering’s cherished concept art and Disney inspired artwork by current and former Imagineers and Disney Artists, and the person responsible for designing this creative new space is Kim Irvine, Director of Concept and Show Design for Walt Disney Imagineering, Anaheim.

Irvine’s design maintains the main elements of the bank and also builds on the charming turn-of-the-century atmosphere of Main Street U.S.A. When asked what fans of the original Gallery will think, Irvine responds, “It will be like moving to a new home, so fans should know that. There’s always a bit of fear when there’s change, and I did not try to imitate the former Gallery because that was very New Orleans. This is very Victorian and very, very elegant. I hope fans appreciate the care and thought that has gone into the new design.”

I miss the one in NOS, but this looks nice from what I can tell in the photos. Looking forward to checking it out next time I can make it do DL.

I like that "Irvine’s design maintains the main elements of the bank". It will be nice to see some of those elements still around.

The safe-door looks like you're entering the Disney Vault! I love it.

I've missed the Gallery so much! I'm very excited to return to Disneyland and see it again! It's just too bad that it's not back in NOS.

The new gallery is nice. I may still need a while to get used to it but better a new gallery than no gallery. But what's real cool is that it means the "Disneyland Story" area of the Opera House is open!

I agree...but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't wish it were still in NOS.

I am happy that Disneyland has an Art Gallery once again and that with it's new "home" the decor keeps with the elegant victorian theme of Main Street. However I also have some attachment to it's former "home" in NOS I loved the feel of it. The way it was layed out in seperate rooms and with a courtyard that was often empty and quiet. It was to me just a perfect little resting place to reflect on all the creative tallent that went into and still does the creation of "Magic" that is created lovingly by so many. It felt so welcoming to me. sigh I think it may have felt that way to others too.
