Default 'Chief Magical Officer' dream job (WINNER announced)

Dream Job: 'Chief Magical Officer' for Disney Parks

Disney gets closer to new magic chief

Florida Today
A national search for the first-ever Chief Magic Officer has drawn 1,300 video resumes from around the United States, a Walt Disney World spokesman said Monday.

The search for the on-park, part-time promotions job will be narrowed to the top 10 video resumes, which will be up and available for viewing and voting on March 2 at www.DreamCMO.com. The three applicants with the most hits by viewers of the Web site will be brought to Walt Disney World in mid-April to compete in a variety of "reality show-type" challenges. The competition will be podcast live and viewers again will pick their favorite applicant.

The application process closed Jan. 27. Applicants sent videos in response to a national search from Disney Parks and CareerBuilder.com. It is a part-time, hourly positionopenfrom May 2008 to May 2009. The position is offered concurrently with the Year Of A Million Dreams.

Default RESORTS: 'Chief Magical Officer' dream job

Dream Job: 'Chief Magical Officer' contests top 10 finalists

Check out CMO contest's top 10

Orlando Sentinel
Disney has winnowed the field of Chief Magic Official candidates down to 10. You can see all 10 of their videos at www.DreamCMO.com. Some are loaded with special effects (at times, very low-tech for comical effect), others very straight-forward. They're under a minute, yet one ends with a blooper reel.

Vote for your favorite through March 22. The top three move onto the next round, which will be played out at Disney World.

Glad to see more supporters of Patrick (the Oklahoma guy).
If you want to hear more from him, he works with Paul Barry on the podcast, "A Window to the Magic." He has his own show usually once a month. :)

Default Three CMO finalists selected

Three CMO finalists selected

Disney reveals Chief Magic Official finalists, who head for Disney World for more competition

Orlando Sentinel
This much we know: the Disney Parks' first-ever Chief Magic Official will be a man. The three finalists are David Hawley (Roseville, Calif.), Justin Vance Muchoney (Seven Fields, Pa.) and Tripp West (Powder Springs, Ga.). They were the top finishers from the more than 500,000 online votes. Their videos and additional information about them can be seen at www.DreamCMO.com.

The next step is a head-to-head competition at Walt Disney World late next week, and, of course, more voting. The competition reminds me of Almost Anything Goes meets Battle of the Network Stars. Among the contests: towel-folding, stroller repair, making noise, guest greeting and face painting. Highlights will be presented online for global voting, which will end at 11:59 p.m. on April 21. The winner will be presented April 22 in front of the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle.

Default Finalists compete for final vote

Finalists compete for final vote

3 finalists in running for Disney's Chief Magic Official

Orlando Sentinel
The three finalists for the position of Chief Magic Official have arrived at Walt Disney World for the final stages of the competition. Thursday morning found the three contestants in a corner of the Magic Kingdom, sifting through and arranging the contents of five strollers each. Justin Muchoney — the only non-parent of the finalists — scored an upset by finishing this "stroller derby" task first.

But the victory doesn't count much. The job of Chief Magic Official is not tied to these contests. Instead, the winner will be selected solely by popular vote on the contest Web site, DreamCMO.com. Voting continues through Monday evening at Dream CMO.com, where the candidates' videos and clips from the Disney World competition can be seen. The winner will be announced on a Webcast at the site Tuesday morning.

Chief Magic Official finalists square off at Disney World

Orlando Sentinel
Spent some time this morning watching the competition of the final three for the Disney Parks Chief Magic Official. First up was a "stroller derby" competition over by it's a small world in Fantasyland. It was fun and good-natured. After the stroller event, the three guys were filmed jockeying for tools to be used in a future contest — getting folks to make some noise along Main Street. Later I watched them learn to fold towels into animal shapes. What I learned: Folks with arthritis need not apply. It looked difficult to me.

Voting continues through Monday evening, and the winner will be announced Tuesday morning during a Webcast.

^ umm... what did those events have to do with their job? The napkin thing I could maybe understand, and the crowd rallying thing is kinda a given, but the strollers? And why are none of the candidates women? I could think of a lot of girls who could easily have filled this post. Oh, well... may the best man win.
