I know what you mean! The recurring theme throughout the movie is "Keep moving forward" and then at the end when you find out that it was actually Walt Disney who said those words, it just really gets to you! =)

Atlantis, yes. Fantasia, heck yes. Brother Bear, yes. Treasure Planet, no. I jus didn't like it. It's a great way to kill an hour and a half babysitting, but that's about it. in the way of underrated films... Oliver and Company, anyone? It was the late 80's and animation was dying a slow agonizing death before TLM came and saved the business. I also think that the third Aladdin movie gets less credit than it deserves. Brought back Robin Williams, had John Rhys-Davies (aka Sallah in Indiana Jones and Gimli in LotR) as Cassim, a villain we could love to hate and a plight that we could all sympathize with. and if you want a real laugh on that, watch the credits and little clip after it: "We're not gettin' outta here, man!!"

I just watched Meet the Robinsons again for the first time in a while and that movie just floored me. I missed so much the first time I saw it. I love everything about that movie: the story with it's theme of choosing between one's past and one's future, the acting, the music, the art direction, the tribute to Walt, etc.
Sometimes it takes awhile for a film to have it's full impact on me. I used to think of Meet the Robinsons as kind of a trivial film. Not anymore! It's emotionally satisfying, beautiful to look at and inspirational. How did I miss that the first time around? I don't know. Meet the Robinsons is very underrated. |

In agreement with the majority here that Treasure Planet is extremely underrated. I think that fault lies with Disney though; it was very poorly marketed. They made it look like the next Atlantis, and it wasn't. It was better. Speaking of, I'm surprised a lot of you are saying Atlantis. I didn't particular care for that one. Fell short of my expectations for Disney. I also concur with those of you who said The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Brother Bear, The Rescuers (and its sequel) and The Great Mouse Detective. I'd also add Hercules to the list, as Disney seems to have forgotten they made it. That, along with Hunchback, totally deserves at least a 2-Disc Special Edition DVD rather than those poorly cobbled-together Gold Collection discs. I'm tentative to add The Black Cauldron to the list, as I didn't think it was particularly good... but it's certainly glossed over by most everyone. I'd definitely add Return to Oz to the list. It was Disney's live-action adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz and I think it captured the spirit of the Oz books much closer than the MGM movie. It was much darker, but still extremely enjoyable. Highly recommended to those of you who haven't heard of it or seen it yet.

If anyone out there said "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," I agree completely. No one ever talks about that one, and it's one of my favorites. Such a great story and wonderful music. There needs to be a special edition DVD of that, too. I'd love that.
