Default Transportation in the "World"

What's the quickest way to get around the resort? Bus, monorail? I'm not quite sure. In my previous trips to WDW, we've always had time to slow down. This time, we're a little rushed. So, that's why I'm asking.

take the bus. it is alot faster, and run about every 10 minutes. the monorail doesnt really go to many places, but is fun if you are going to Epcot from the MK or vice-versa. the busses run to your hotel and to the other parks

I think from the hotel to the Parks the bus is the way to go. Mid day and evening I find that you can hop into a taxi and get to where you want to go without waiting for a bus or waiting in a long line for a bus. Of course there is a trade off - cash for speed.

buses are your friends quick and easy to catch one.... :)

Monorail can't get you everywhere you need to go, unfortunately

Depends on where you want to go. From the resorts to the parks or from one park to another, the busses are fine. But if you want to go from one resort to another, Then you are better off having your own car. The busses don't go directly from one hotel to another, you have to go to the TTC or one of the parks, and then transfer to another bus. Sometimes this whole process can take quite a while. Most especially if you have dinner reservations!! Make sure to allow plenty of time

It all depends on where you are staying, where you want to go, and when you want to go.

The problem that I'm trying to avoid is: When I was the at the MK, I took the bus to the Studios...............and it stopped at every hotel from MK to the Studios. It took a whole hour! Anyway to avoid this in particular?

Thats never happened to me. I highly doubt it was a hour. The busses usually take you straight to where ever your going.

Unless I am mistaken, which I could be. I thought that there were direct routes between the parks, that did not stop at the resorts. Maybe you had gotten on the wrong bus/line or the bus' reader board could have been mistaken.
Either way, the bus system does have it's highs and lows.
If it was an hour, you should have just taken the monorail over to Epcot and then walked through the park over to the exit in World Showcase and from there taken the Friendship, lol. It would have been a nice, lengthy, tour

Can you remember what the bus said on the outside? All the Disney busses will state where it is going. If it says "MGM Studios" it is going there. If it says "Animal Kingdom Lodge" it is going there. I can't imagine a Disney bus going to multiple places. That is not very efficient or economical. Disney is all about efficiency. Me and my wife went to Disney last week and noticed there were a few non-Disney busses around the resort. Are you sure it was a Disney bus? This is very interesting.

Are the busses free? Also, how often do they run?

^ The busses should be free if you stay at their resorts.
