Does anyone remember in WDW they were building a monorail stop to downtown disney?

I Remember I think it was in the late 90's or the early 2000's that they were building a monorail stop in downtown disney any ideas why they stoped and if there any ideas for the future for new monorail stops anywhere in WDW?

I don't know why they stopped attempting to build more of the monorail tracks. at the Swan and Dolphin in the Epcot Resort Area,there's a gigantic Black square in the middle of the two buildings that was to house a monorail I believe. budget or complications on placement perhaps.

I believe Saratoga Springs has land set aside for the monorail as well. What really gets me is why the Wilderness Lodge isn't on the MK loop (Besides $). It's right there!
