^In vegas they implode hotels all the time, and most times its within 50 feet of another hotel, and they get it down without any harm. It'd just create a lot of dust, and DTD would need to be cleaned up, and that area closed for a few hours.

The Hotels are closer than 50 feet I think. And I think for safety they would have to empty all the hotels out in case it didn't implode correctly and just toppled over.
Just sounds too risky if you think about what would happen if it didn't go right. Vegas has tons of hotels and such. DTD and those towers are way too important for Disney to just casually ignore the risk. |

Vegas-style implosion only works if they intend to rebuild everything in the Disneyland Hotel complex again. That means lobby, restaurants, former marina area, all of it. Otherwise, they'll have no choice but to go the tedious route.

OK.. There has been sooooooooo very many rumors about a new star tours!!!! disney should just listen to the guests and make a new one! 99.9 %of the people are ready for a new video.. rumors are again going around that Lucas has made a new video. Sadly, I won't believe it until Disney officially says it themself. I truly hope they do redo it.

On one hand, the implosion seems easier because it gives the area a clean slate. The con of that is that everything would have to be rebuilt, not just what currently needs rebuilding/refurbishing. What only really needs work are the towers themselves, so they might simply refurbish/retrofit them. The con of that, though, is that Hotel guests will be forced to deal with all the construction/noise/detours/other junk associated with a construction site. Just like when students have to deal with construction when a building on campus is being retrofitted. It's not a pleasent thing to deal with. Personally, I say eat the costs, implode the Hotel, rebuild it bigger & better than ever, and create something that's good enough that will immediately steal back whatever marketshare you've lost in the interim. People will choose Disneyland Hotel over any generic Hilton, or Embassy Suites, or Ramada any day IF the Disneyland Hotel is good enough. It would not be very hard to regain lost marketshare IF the Hotel's re-done right. Not cheap, not plain, not cookie-cutter, but spectacular, inside & out. We'll see if they have the guts to do that. -- PMM

^And it would really help them out if they lowered the price of hotel rooms for a month or so. Me and my family stayed at the Grand Californian a few months after DCA opened and I think it was around 190 a night, instead of the average 350 a night. But when we stayed their the place was packed. If they lowered the hotel rates a little bit, lots more people will stay there.

Either way it is gonna cost them. A renovation will only last so long before it will need another. Especially with all the new building codes the longer they wait to rebuild it to codes of the times the more it is going to cost. It might make more sense for them to build a hotel on the property across from the Gardenwalk, then use that as a temporary hotel while they do the DLH. That way in the end they have 2 hotels, both new.
