^ I know but my point was those rides at least sound original, despite Splash Mountain not being totally original. If Splash Mountain used today's logic, it would have been titled "Song of the South: Bear Rabbit makes a Big Splash!" or some nonsense like that.

Today they don't care - the focus is on the movie and mooching as much as possible off of it. Forget the attraction...

I don't like where this is going. Instead of riding Space Mountain or Splash Mountain or Matterhorn, now we're riding Toy Story, Finding Nemo & Monsters Inc. It's becoming Disney Studios Anaheim! Disneyland is NOT Universal Studios Hollywood with a different brand! STOP TREATING IT LIKE THAT!

-- PMM
Exactly. Look at all the problems Universal has had in recent years. They have to keep updating the park with newer films because of such a reliance on movies. The rides become dated and they have no original, timeless rides to fall back on. Disneyland has always had mostly original rides. In a few years Pixar will become dated and they will not have enough original stuff to fall back on.

That's what happens when you rely too much on movie fads. They make money in the short term, but relying only on them won't work in the long term.

I still can't believe we're getting another Toy Story shooting gallery ride. Talk about lack of originality!

splash mountain was named to promote the movie splash. not joking. it's a movie based title for a ride. you can start hating it too now and lamenting about it.

I don't have proof to post other than say I was at a lecture with Tony Baxter a few weeks ago and he told us about it firsthand. The working title was something like Zip-a-dee-doo-dah River Run and Michael Eisner, fresh from creating Touchstone, wanted to promote it by putting the title Splash into the name and to have a darryl hannah mermaid AA in the ride. They had to convince him that daryl hannah mermaid AA didn't fit with brer rabbit, brer fox, and brer bear, but they kept the name Splash Mountain.

Isn't a real Mr. Potato Head about a foot high?
So would the interactive, life sized Mr. Potato Head also be that tall?

Nah, unless Toy-Story or Talking toys freak them out. I kinda got freaked when I found out about the plans for Toy Story 3, where the buzz toys get recalled. It just sounded scary for some reason.
