Default HISTA closing/refurb?

I've been hearing that Honey I Shrunk the Audience will be closing after labor day. Apparently this information is based on some cast-member testimony, and it would make sense to cut costs after the busy summer season. Anyone heard anything specific? Anyone care? I honestly think it's the worst attraction at disneyland. It was nice when it premiered; we needed a replacement to the Captain EO that had become a potential embarassment during the Micheal Jackson trial. That being said, the technology has become outdated and remains in a somewhat state of disrepair. The roof leaks, and the show techology is dwarfed by that of A Bug's Life in Disney's California Adventure Park. [Sadly, the very mediocre (in this writer's opinion) Muppets attraction, is notably better as well] All in all, if HISTA closes after labor day, will anyone notice?

I wouldn't. My husband has never seen the show cause I just never want to take the time to do it. I agree that ITTBAB is so much to live up to that this show is a little defunct. I hope they use the space wisely and put something better in soon.

I just hope they come up with a new 3d movie attraction, I love Phillharmagic, but we need originals in DL, not copy-pastes

I would care. Even though it's not that fun anticipating the mice effect, it is still a good, humorous attraction with Eric Idle of Monty Python. And if that's not enough, Walt makes an appearance in the preshow.

Jim, Wayne Szalinski must die.

Okay, so that’s not exactly how Mr. Spock said it. But the sentiment rings true. I am, of course, speaking of the Honey, I Shrunk The Audience, the 3-D crapfest that currently resides in the Magic Eye theater in Tomorrowland. Does anyone actually remember this Disney movie? Not to reveal my age, but this movie will have its 20th anniversary next year in 2009. The current generation of Disney Channel viewers have no idea who the Szalinski family is. Am I the only one who finds this attraction stale, boring, and just plain painful to watch? Rick Moranis was great as Dark Helmet, but here, he is just annoying. The whole thing stinks like yesterday’s diapers. It’s time for this ancient relic to go the way of the dodo and into Yesterland. But then again, what am I saying? If Honey stops playing, what demonic hellspawn will replace it? My cadaverous palor betrays an aura of foreboding. I can see it now: Hannah Montana 3-D, or even worse, The Suite Life of Zac And Cody 3-D. God help us. Szalinski stays for now, cause if he leaves, something far worse will take his place. So, nevermind this post. Forget the fact that you read this, and that I even typed it.

Well it would make sense that HISTA is closing considering the Imagination pavillion at Epcot is going to have a massive refurb next year. (Which includes removing HISTA

Sosai X.... wow.....

I had no idea that it was almost 20 years old! Holy cow has it been that long?!! I remember going to the theater to see it with my mom!
I agree it's time for a replacement, but now that you have struck the fear of God into me with the possibily of a Hannah Montana horror show..... *shudders*....... let's come up with something unique!

Yes i agree it needs a replacement. It no where near stands up to the magic that some other rides do. Plus it is not in very good condition, and hardly anyone goes to it. It is like the show that sites in the corner that everyone skips.

Hannah Montana 3-D in Tomorrowland. You know, with the kind of stuff that plays at Tomorrowland Terrace, that's not as ludicrious a thought as it might first sound. However, Disney marketing and merchandise is driving Miley Cyrus, and putting her in the theme parks would mean crossing that particular border within the Disney Company. While that would be a challenge politically, I do believe it's certainly possible that if Jay Rasulo was presented with the right means of putting a permanent Hannah Montana 3D show in a park, he would get behind it. It could happen.

No one will ever notice last time i went i spoke with a cast member and he said that most days the only reason people go to the attraction is because of the A/C. I dunno I do not like that attraction and I really do not think its anyone's favorite lol

It's not bad, it's just old and people are bored of it. They need a new show in there.

This is kind of frustrating, I mean, Disney and Pixar come up with new and original movies every year, WHY THE HECK CANT WE GET A NEW ORIGINAL 3D MOVIE FOR TOMORROWLAND!! Its not that hard considering the amount of Imagination focused in Imagineers. And about the Hannah Montana thingy, i believe you can live at ease, remember miley is doing a lot of nasty things over the internet and the series is rumored to hit rock bottom next year.

maybe they should do something totally different like instead of a different 3-d thing... like a ride or a walk through show...
