Default goodbye Paradise Pier?

I read this on what is planned for Paradise Pier
First up is the new Midway Mania ride in Paradise Pier, an attraction that has yet to be formally acknowledged by Disney but is already under construction and on track to open in Anaheim in less than two years. But the big stuff is planned for the 2008-10 timeframe when pretty much everything from the Orange Stinger to Golden Dreams is torn out and replaced with a new San Francisco concept. At the same time the remnants of Paradise Pier located within the footprint of California Screamin' get the full Pixar treatment with the characters of Toy Story taking over the boardwalk.

The focus for all of this is squarely on the family market, with the intense Maliboomer space shot type of ride even being turned into a much tamer parachute drop similar to the one Knott's Berry Farm had for many years, except this one would be themed to the Green Army Men from Toy Story. With the Orange Stinger, Golden Zephyr, Jumpin' Jellyfish and Mulholland Madness all removed, there would be room for Lasseters big-budget family E-Ticket based on the movie Cars and themed to San Francisco, including cars zipping down a remade Lombard Street.

Although Paradise Pier is heavily underthemed I don't think ripping out it's current attractions and replacing them with Pixar inspired rides is going to make it better. I'm disapointed that Disney wants to take the park in that direction, California offers so much that they don't need to rely on the Pixar movies. I'll post my idea for Paradise Pier in a few days.

^^ I completely agree. This sounds so fake and is a really bad idea. Why would they take out like 5 normal rides just for one big ride? It doesn't make any sense. The only thing I've heard is that there will be that Midway Madness ride and an Ursula ride of some sort.

buzzlightsnack, please cite your source. Additionally, this topic will now be moved to the Rumor Mill.

As for the Pier rumor, while there is construction underway for an attraction that will take out the Strips/POP/Maliburittos/2 Games area, there is no basis for the rest of the "news"

Although, I do agree Paradise Pier lacks theme, felt like a typical amusement park in that area to me... I do not think they need to shred up most of the land in replacement for uh, Pixar Land?
Also, this Midway Madness ride you people are mentioning, what exactly is it going to be? Can anyone give links about this attraction?

GUYS IT TRUE! Doubt all you want. This same info was posted in Al Lutz's newest Mice Age update. BTW Dont copy and paste stuff. I beleive it 95%. Personally I could care less about Paradice Peir because its everything disney didnt like about theme parks.

Al Lutz in my opinion is a Disney Critic. And he posts all the info about the expansion of the parks/changes to the parks on MiceAge. I think he is too negative but thats just my opinion and we are all entitled.

Anyway I beleive it. I WANT these changes to happen. Like they better do somthing like this. I hate paradice peir. Its everything disney built disneyland for. To make a theme park not like the rest.

Al Lutz writes material that generally is based on rumors, made to sound fact. Most of the time, these rumors do not come true. Contrary to other sources, these materials do not have "inside info"

I ain't gonna lie.. if they tore down everything in that corner of the park and started over I wouldn't shed a tear Everything west of the pier entrance swooping all the way around the lake until the ferris wheel.

Al lutz was right about one thing the submarines but i think he guessed. when the walls that said imagineering at play he said that it would be nemo. He was right but i don't recall anything else. If you think about it Screamin and Maliboomer are Way Tamer then stuff anywhere else. Its not intense but its just enough to get ppl who like thrills into the park. I don't belive this stuff. And IMHO i don't think al lutz is right this time. Yes about the the midway madness but not about the entire thing.

What Lutz wrote about what's coming to DCA are John Lasseter's ideas for that area. Nothing more, nothing less. Lasseter is the head of WDI, not the ruler of the world. ALL ideas must be submitted for budgetary approval before they actually happen. Then once they're approved, Lutz usually informs us, then usually blows his own horn saying he first told us however long ago it was. He's mentioned Placemaking ideas for Paradise Pier for months now. That, at least, isn't anything new.

I guess we don't need Paradise Pier either anymore. A lot of the rides I think shouldn't even have been in a Disney park to begin with. The typical rides you might find in a carnival.
Maliboomer, well we don't need it anymore now that we have the Tower of Terror.
Only ride I can really argue over in Paradise Pier would be California Screamin', but its lack of theme might earn it to be demolished.

Question is what would be the theme? My vote would be for 'Road Rage Mountain'. It'd fit the California theme perfectly.

Nothing beats the REAL Lombard street and going down it at 10 mph.
If you think that's slow, you've never done it.

I would cry if California Screaming was ripped out, but it might be for the better. We'll just wait and see.
