To repeat: there is no reason to believe that a Fantasmic II show is coming is or even being thought of.

But that was out of necessity, not creativity.

^ They could easily have the exact same jungle scenes with the monkeys & Kaa that we have here, but no, they decided on that hilariously stupid & pointless Jafar snake scene. Done out of necessity? Only if you want to really ***** your show up. They extended the bubbles projections to cover when we'd see the Dumbo dancing elephants & Pinocchio sequence to hold a seemingly endless display of random animated character shorts, and changed the dragon to be a sum of not 3, but about 8 villans. Was that change done out of necessity? Again, only if its necessary to turn your show into a total joke.

Yes they lack the boats, so they have to change those scenes, but that's about it. The other changes were made for really no reason at all, and you see what happens when needless changes are made. I was about ready to walk out of the stadium after laughing at that tiny little Steamboat Willie ship, but then I saw how they do their finale & suddenly it all made sense. They use a combination of fountains, lighting, pyro & Sorceror Mickey way up on the peak of the "mountain", completely blow everyone away with it & suddenly they've forgotten the past 25 minutes. Amazing how that works isn't it?

Don't worry, they'd never try that at Disneyland, I hope. But at least they're not thinking about changing or renaming the show at all. There might be some minor changes in the lighting coming, so an effect or two might look a wee bit different, but that's it.

You know, if they are going to go for it, then I say go for it! It's going to be like from One Man's Dream. Bruce Healey compose both shows. Fantasmic and One Man's Dream. I still think the sequel will be a tremendous idea.

The Fantasmic II that Lutz was talking about was a Harris idea. The only tremendous ideas she had were cramming the park full of ODV carts and putting twice as many gift shops as rides in DCA.

i think i read on some other site (not mice age i think mouse planet) that they had plans to re do star tours and make it ST 2 or something thats a little more realistic than this idea and the ST 2 isn't very realsitic anyway. Well i guess sorta becasue it says travel to new destiantions or whatever on the scrolly sign. They seriously should leave D-land alone think of what they could do to DCA if they left D-land alone

I don't remember a pointless Jafar snake scene, but I do remember the jungle scene being much better there. Actually, the entire beginning was much better. It's only when they suddenly turn the show into a movie montage on water that it starts to suck. I liked the fact that they added more villains (it always kind of bugged me that the witch summons "all the forces of evil" and ends up with just Ursula, Chernabog, and Maleficent), but they blew it by keeping them solely in two dimensions.

That's what I was referring to. It accounts for a lot of the changes, including the whole, misguided Pocahontas thing.

Of course, watching the DL version tonight made me realize how bad it is. Or maybe I'm just sick of it. I used to love it, but now it just seems like a bunch of random effects and half-hearted theatrical scenes and props thrown together without rhyme or reason, tied together by some dubious "dream" story. As bad as the Pocahontas scene is, the Peter Pan scene doesn't work either because you can't see what's going on much of the time. It just looks like a bunch of chaos (and reusing a pre-existing ride just feels cheap to me). The show really only gets exciting and interesting at the end.
