Exclamation Fantasmic 2!

It has just been posted (if you're curious, here it is http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al011006d.htm) that WDI is in the process of creating a sequel to Fantasmic dubbed Fantasmic 2 for the summer of 2007! Any thoughts

They better let me do the lighting for it. I wouldnt make the lighting suck so much. I beleive that the lighting on fantasmic should be literally a part of the show as much as the live performers.

well, as long as it is a similar show to the one we have right now. my biggest fear is if they go off and do a entirely diferent show based on a new low budget movie or one of the Pixar movies.

*sigh* Here is the exact quote folks:

II" for the summer of '07? They're in a bit of a quandary right now in TDA, and the roaring success of the 50th Anniversary that has exceeded even the most optimistic plans of 18 months ago has put quite a bit of pressure on TDA to not let the 2007 and '08 numbers fall in a hole once the 50th party ends this October.
This is purely 100% Al's speculation and by no means an announcement for anything. He's simply saying there were plans by Hariss made years ago that were rejected but not forgotten, and summer '07 might be the time for a different version of them to resurface. That's all there is folks. No announcement about anything. Fantasmic! is not going anywhere. WDI is not creating any Fantasmic II with plans to debut it in '07. Rumor dead.

Honestly, I don't see a reason why they want to change a still successful show. It may be old (as in years), but it's still popular. I swear, if they made a sequel that involves more Pixar in it, I think I will go crazy. But honestly, if they did make a sequel, it better be an another situation that involves the second attempt to steal Mickey Mouse's imagination. With more advanced special effects.

I like it as it is... they tried a "fantasmic 2" at mgm, and see how that one turned out?? Eep!!! If they did anything, it would be to update special effects add new effects, and maybe some new scenes... But not a drastic change please

Fix WDW Fantasmic, but leave the Pocahontas segment, because that's my favorite action scene.

I think the show is in need of a big update. It's a good show, but it could be so much better. Specifically, the beginning and end are good, but the entire middle portion is fairly dull and uninspired. It's like they didn't know what to do with it so they said, "Okay, let's throw a few glow-in-the-dark elephants on the island. And a cardboard cutout of Pinocchio with some dancing girls."

The WDW version is better in that respect, but ultimately it starts to rely way too much on the projection-on-the-water effect. And that Pocahontas thing doesn't work at all.

Both versions are flawed, but in different ways. They should get me to direct it. I'd turn it into a masterpiece! Of course, I'd also bring it about a million dollars over-budget.

I completely agree with you! Yes, Fantasmic is a great show, but it seriously need to update the middle of the show. I'm not saying to add stuff from features from the past 10 years (Hercules, Treasure Planet, Mulan, etc.) and just cut out what is already there. Just, make the scenes more visually interesting/exciting (like, why not have actual FLYING pink elephants above the audience or something instead of projections?). What I would also like to see are elements from under appreciated Disney films getting into the act that could fit into the shows tone and theme. For instance, the Horned King and the cauldron itself from The Black Cauldron. I know the movie wasn't the best of Disney, but I seriously think that the villain and premice of the film would work in the realm of Fantasmic. Finally, I firmly believe that WDW Fantasmic should have a facelift. I remember thinking to myself the first time I saw it "They replaced pirates with Pocahontas?!?".

I think they should keep pinnochio... just because I think that entire giant setup is so cool, but maybe actual people playing pinnochio, and the dancers... The elephants need to stay as they area because, they have no other way of getting the pinnochio rigging up.. it needs that big black area.. Unless they remove the giant pinnochio rigging... Uhm, pirate/princess is good

I am with those that prefer an update instead of a new sequel. However, tiny additions would be nice in certain scenes (more princesses, projections of early classics, upgraded effects). Fantasmic is already a DL landmark and it should only improve for the future.

However, if something different could come to Rivers of America, I'd rather not name it "Fantasmic! II" or anything like that. For me, the ideal show would be the evolution of "Remember.... Dreams Come True" (with less "wishes" stuff and more "airtime" for DL and its attractions) to become a real Disneyland Homage extravaganza, not just laser, and fireworks, but taking advantage of all the resources (Columbia could be used for a PotC scene, the rafts could carry some Fantasyland characters, the Mark Twain would help in the Frontierland tributes, special effects could generate from BTMRR, HM and Splash Mountain, and even the Fantasmic! tribute could be added this time).

It took 50 years for DL to look back at the magic of its attractions, it should not go away after the 50th celebration, yet it should improve and became a permanent attraction by itself.

As for Fantasmic! (the original), the year is long enough to keep up to two great shows in Rivers of America, so they could become seasonal attractions.

Anyway, I am just thinking out loud here, but wouldn't any one of you want to see something like that? there's a lot of footage, sounds and technology, the only missing thing is the will of WDI to make it happen.

You people are being a bunch of silly willies! To me I think it's a wonderful idea. This is just going to be like from One Man's Dream(Tokyo Disneyland version.) And Tokyo Disneyland has One Man's Dream II: The Magic Lives On. I think this will be a wonderful idea and I don't give dang about putting Pixar characters in it. So there!

I agree, Fantasmic is fine the way it is.
