I have this book called "Realityland", by David Koenig, all about WDW and the things that have happened there over the years. Near the end of the book, it talks about how the least experimental component of the whole place (besides Epcot, as Walt thought of it, which, of course, never really came to be as he envisioned) has become the template of the whole resort in general and the theme parks in particular. That component is, of course, the Magic Kingdom.

Koenig goes on to say that the popularity of the MK has encroached on the other parks' respective distinct identities and basically made them mere extensions of the resort's first park's personality. He explains that that's some of the reasons why the parks have gotten the attractions they have now, like remodeling Epcot's Mexico to include the Three Caballeros, obstructing the view of the Studios' Chinese Theater with a giant Sorcerer's Apprentice hat, or even adding quality attractions to the Animal Kingdom (i.e., Everest, the Nemo show) that, while giving that park some much-needed attention, tend to mess with the boundaries between which kingdom is Magic and which is Animal.

Do you think that the non-MK's parks respective personalities are succumbing to that of the MK?

You may be wondering what that means. Since we are all Disney fans, and fans of certain films/books and film/books series owned by the Walt Disney Company, do you have any theories for an event that happened or for a character's behavior? anything?

WARNING! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN TOY STORY 2, OR READ KINGDOM KEEPERS AND/OR KINGDOM KEEPERS 2, MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!

I have this strange theory that Jessie is older than Woody because Emily is Andy's mother... call it weird, but it could be true...

END TOY STORY SPOILERS. KINGDOM KEEPER SERIES SPOILERS UP AHEAD!

I have another theory pertaining to the Kingdom Keepers series... In book 1, it is said Amanda's parents have something to do with the parks . However, in the second volume, it is revealed her parents have died a long time ago. Could it be possible they had something to do with the parks and knew Walt and Wayne?

END ALL SPOILERS HERE

Your turn!

I created this thread for any VFers who have been to Disney parks outside the U.S. who'd like to share their stories & kinda tell us how they differ from Disneyland or Disney World. I myself have never been to any of them but I've always wanted to visit Tokyo Disney Resort because the parks there seem to have a lot more detail in the little things & Tokyo DisneySea is worth the trip to Japan alone. But I digress, feel free to share your international parks stories & maybe outline the pros & cons compared to the U.S. parks.

I know the D23 ended a while ago now but I was wondering what your thoughts on Mystic Manor? To be honest with ya, I was skeptical of it at first but judging by the concept art & the video on YouTube the attraction sounds really original. I like how they incorporated other lesser attractions in the ride (Take a gander at the Tribal Room concept art & many of the tiki gods from The Enchanted Tiki Room appear in that scene) plus the whole thing about Harrison Hightower & Henry Mystic being adversaries is genius. The only thing I'm still skeptical about is that Mystic Point only has the manor as it's main attraction & it reminds me of Epcot's World Showcase for some reason with the whole big space, no rides thing. But that's just my two cents what do you guys think?

P.S. I'm really like the Grizzly Mountain concept art but Toy Story Land ugh... not so much

Has anyone seen these yet? They're so amazing! For anyone who doesn't know, these toys are 99.9% perfect replicas of the Toy Story toys you see in the films! Each toy comes in its packaging, whether it be Woody and the Saloon packaging or Buzz in his space ship, it basically pulls the toys off the screen and on to your shelves. There are some toys whose boxes aren't seen in the films, so they have original designs! So far the toys that have been released are:

Woody

Buzz

Rex

Bucket O Soldiers

Three Aliens

RC

You can turn Woody, Buzz, RC, and I think Rex on interactive modes and it's AMAZING! All of those except for Buzz have two modes, while Buzz has three.

The modes are:

Toy Mode

Interactive Mode

Space Ranger Mode (Buzz Only)

What's cool on interactive mode is that when you put Buzz's helmet behind him (Sadly, it still doesn't go all the way in), it makes a whoosh noise, and he says something about it, and it may be different each time. His wings are bigger than Mattel's Buzz, which is ULTIMATELY great AND they light up! To add greatness to more greatness, he CAN GLOW IN THE DARK!

Woody says 50 lines too! Which is great because Mattel's only says about three or four.

Sadly, none of them have Andy's name on them, but other than that, it's just great!

Thinkway has really done a great job on the detail, and this fact is totally enforced because I'm a Mattel fan, so it's odd for me to compare them. I really hope they break into Bo Peep, Potato Head, Jessie, and the rest of the gang, because Thinkway has blown Mattel's Toy Story and Beyond line out of the water, or more appropriately, out the room. If I ever get these toys, their boxes may be the only one I ever keep! Applause, Applause!Applause, Applause!Applause, Applause!Applause, Applause!

Like the title suggests, what would be something that happens in the company, but crazy? I would put this in Disneyland, but there are plenty of other parks out there. This thread is probably random, but I was bored one day, blowing bubbles.

So I thought about Maleficent in Fantasmic and how she blows fire, and asked myself, "What if she blew bubbles one night?!?!" As I thought about it, it looked pretty funny in my head. Then I listened to the music from the show, and it was on the villain sequence when Maleficent had started to ignite the river. You know how it's all dramatic. BUM-BUM-BUM. BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM That would be pretty funny with bubbles set to some dramatic music...

Hey all you VFers! Lately I have been watching a lot of Boy Meets World episodes on YouTube. I was wondering whether or not there were any other BMW fans out there? List your favorite characters, favorite sayings, favorite episdoes, anything!

My favorite character is most definetly Eric! He is like the funniest person on the show. I love the episode where he and Jack dress up as women to get away from thugs and everyone thinks that Eric is ugly.

I also love the wedding episodes
Before the wedding-"Eric is going to loose the rings, he's going to look for them in the ministers pants, he's going to knock the minister over, into the candles, set the church on fire and Topanga's gonna blame me!"

At the Wedding-"Haha! Shawns poor (they start to fight at Cory's wedding)

At the Honeymoon-"What do you think Mr. Bird? Bird bite me-left side paralyzed"

Why does Disney clone their rides at each park? I'm not just talking about classic Fantasyland attractions or Jungle Cruise, but I mean all the stuff unnesential towards the park it's at? Toy Story Midway Mania, Fantasmic, Indiana Jones, AND EVEN THE LITTLE MERMAID! I was disapointed upon learning about Ariel's Adventure being cloned because it would be so unique for DCA to have because TSMM was cloned the summer before and WDW people could already experience the same exact thrills of Radiator Springs Racers.

Okay, so obviously, we all used to watch Disney Channel (some of us still do *ahem*) for its great shows like Dave the Barbarian or Phil of the Future, but a lot of its good shows are over :( and then it became a crazy "they need to hide their secret" thing after Dave the Barbarian and Brandy and Mr. Whiskers and lastly, it became all about music. This wouldn't cancel anything, though (sorry) :(
EDIT: Now I have lifted the 2000's show rule, I think we're ALL dying to know what you're gonna pick, Jeany ;)

It seems that the studios cousin in good ol' Pareee is somewhat lacking compared to other parks. It looks like the whole park was built on a small budget & it reminds people more of a Six Flags park than a Disney park. All the buildings look like office buildings & for a while all the attractions there were "D" tickets. But as all stories should have happy endings, ever since they added Tower of Terror the park appears to be rising a bit in the theming department. The whole area around ToT is overall nicer than most parts of the park. Anyways do you think Disney will spend a lot of money on a renovation here similar to Disney's California Adventure? I heard that they are adding a Toy Story land similar to Hong Kong so that's pretty interesting but what are your thoughts on the matter?

P.S. I'm now back on VF after a while away which involved my leaving of League of Dreamers due to personal reasons. I thought I might tell y'all now what was the problem... my grandmother died in her sleep a few weeks ago at the age of 75 & I was too torn up to create ideas. But I'm back now & I look forward to posting new ideas in the Imagineering section & beyond so it's good to be back!!! :D

Alright, I know I'm gonna get blasted on all sides for this, but isn't this actually a good idea? I know, everyone here hates Jonas/Miley/Demi/Selena (or any combination thereof), but the people who do are young enough to be influenced by this and get involved (and if not, then their 1.29 can go to DWCF like everyone else's). The page itself isn't too bad, and the pledge thing is interesting.

Weigh in: what do you think the next step should be for this program?

So, I bet pretty much alll of you have seen at least one of the Disney Park specials where TV show characters all go to Disney Parks, right?

Which was your favorite (vote for it, but if it might not be there, click other)? Which TV show should go to a Disney Park? Which park should it be?

________
I love the Full House episode. Or episodes as it was a two part episode. Same for the Roseanne episodes, Walt Disney World War I and Walt Disney World War II. What I would like to see is a Phineas and Ferb episode at Disneyland and California Adventure, where it reveals their inspiration is Walt Disney's curiousity... another episode that could happen at any Disney park would be a (everyone may disagree with me on this..) Suite Life on Deck.... I mean, they travel places, right? So I can't see why it can't be possible...

Ever since I was young I've always wanted to work at Disneyland & I still plan on doing so after college perhaps. But one of the many characters that caught my eye was The Mad Hatter because of his crazy sense of humour & his interaction with guests. Many of my friends say I should audition for those kinds of roles because they save I have a bizarre sense of humour & because of my experience with acting. Does anyone have suggestions for how I could audition for that role or if I have to be a certain height or weight or whatever. I'd appreciate anything I could learn.

Why does it seem like that the Fab Five is reserved exclusively for people in the single-digit-range of age nowadays (case in point: the Mickey Mouse...

Why does it seem like that the Fab Five is reserved exclusively for people in the single-digit-range of age nowadays (case in point: the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse)? Once upon a time, Mickey and the gang were for everybody of every age. But not anymore, right? Why is Disney so hung on eliminating the values of their assets? Mickey and company are highly valuable assets, but to only feature them in low quality animated product for toddlers reduces the value of those assets by making the audience believe that the characters are only for children 5 and under. And why does that show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse have to be a rip-off of Dora and Blue's Clues?

Mind you, they do release the classic shorts on DVD every now and then, and I am only too proud to say that I own all of the shorts on the Treasures, but why does it seem like whenever you see them in the stores nowadays, they're seen primarily with this "Clubhouse" nonsense? What is going on here?

Please, though, I don't want to turn this into an argument; I was just making a observation the likes of which I was getting tired of.
