I have to believe that a good amount of you VFers watch this show on Sunday nights. Personally, this is one of my favorite shows, as it tells the classic stories through different perspectives and add on to certain characters stories who may not have played such a big role in the original tales. I would like this thread to be a place where we can all share I thoughts, reactions and just talk about the show that we enjoy so much.

It's just not fair! I'm starting to hate Bob Iger even more. To me, I think it's his fault for lack of hand drawn movies. Even John Lasseter is being a coward for making another one. If I was the CEO of Disney, I fix this problem. Bring back hand drawn and get rid of tween sitcoms. I know we have Paperman, but I want to see Disney to do another hand drawn movie again. People are pathetic ignoring The Princess & the Frog. I want it to be a success, but when I heard the news that it was underperformed, I was so upset, I didn't know what to say. Since Bob Iger might end his run as CEO for the next 2 or 3 years, I suggest we vote Roy P. Disney son of Roy E. Disney to be the next CEO. But right now, this is the saddest day of my life.

I dont think it has been confirmed yet by Disney directly but multiple sources across the web, including Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel that there is plans to make a Boy Meets World spinoff titled [I]Girl Meets World.[I] the show will center around Cory and Tapanga's teenage daughter, very much like the original show. The plan is to have to show air on The Disney Channel later this year!

I dont know about the rest of you, but I am extremely excited about this news. I feel like the live action shows currently airing portray adults to be imbiciles, while the kids are overly sassy. Shows like BMW were a perfect blend of comedy while also emphasizing the importance of family and having good morals. If GMW is anything like its predecessor, I think it will be a good change for the network.

How does everyone else feel about them bringing the Matthews' back to television? Do you like the idea? Or should they leave them be?

Hi,

Please forgive my obsessing, but I just don't understand why can't Disney make a new Mickey Mouse TV series for kids of all ages and kid in our hearts? I think this unfair that Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is more popular than Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse. I think Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse is more successful, but people are so dumb! I'm sick and tired of Disney aiming Mickey Mouse to preschoolers. I think that's wrong and it destroys the personality of Mickey Mouse. I think today kids watch Shake It Up instead of House of Mouse are a bunch of thick-headed dummies. Heck, every Disney Fan hates Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They should of make new tv series for Mickey Mouse and friends for kids of all ages and adults. They should of include Horace Horsecollar, Clarice Chipmunk, and if possible Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. Also, the new Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy movie should of move forward but the Disney Executives are being chicken! I know Epic Mickey 2 The Power of Two is coming and I'm very excited for it, but I still can't stand for this. I tried writing a letter to Disney but they refuse to reply.

I'm sorry, I just hope Mickey Mouse Clubhouse won't stay on air forever.

A new bit of concept art has been released (or leaked, I'm not sure) showcasing the still-under-construction Shanghai Disneyland. Take a look.

It's a bit hard to make out so I'll do my best to put something together for you guys. :)

1. Toy Story Playland is located to the northwestern corner of the park in between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Although I'm having mixed feelings about another Toy Story Playland so close to Hong Kong Disneyland, it seems like it'll be a good fit for the park. China is more familiar with Pixar than they are with traditional Disney so it does make sense. And apparently all the flat-rides in Hong Kong are more popular than the other rides so it makes sense to include a large collection of flat-rides.
2. There is no railroad encircling the park.
3. The traditional Main Street, U.S.A. is replaced by Mickey Avenue and the Gardens of Imagination. Mickey Avenue seems to have the Mickey floral arrangement and both Dumbo and the carousel are in the Gardens of Imagination. There also seems to be some kind of arena seating with a stage, and a relatively large body of water.
4. Tomorrowland doesn't reveal much other than a few things which have been released to the public quietly, such as a TRON coaster, a jet pack Astro Orbitor, a PeopleMover, and I think a Space Mountain?
5. Fantasyland has a Pooh dark ride and a Pooh version of the teacups, along with the Seven Dwarfs' mine train, some other dark ride, I think PhilharMagic, and then a boat ride through a garden-like area. There're also a lot of things to the northern point of the land which looks pretty promising.
6. Adventureland looks absolutely fantastic. It has a dinosaur-filled river rapids ride and a new version of Pirates of the Caribbean. Rumor has it that POTC in this park will be a drastic departure from the original and utilize an EMV boat ride with no animatronics. Instead they're doing something to how the characters are presented in the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Some other concept art shows a Mayan temple and an African village which don't seem to be present on this map.

Well what do you think?

Well, it's official: On June 21st, 2013, the Goodman Theater in Chicago will play host to the stage version of Walt Disney's 19th animated masterpiece The Jungle Book, adapted by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman! And of course, since this is going to be a Disney musical, we'll have some amazing songs. We'll have the original classics (like "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You"), a couple of songs that weren't used in the film, written by Terry Gilkyson, plus some new songs with an Indian flavor.

So, what do you think? Ready to step inside Rudyard Kipling's amazing world? Post a reply!
3. Place Kevin Fiege as Rich Ross's replacement

4. Darker and maturer movies (think Pirates of the Caribbean meets Haunted Mansion tone)

5. Movies based on ABC hit series like Once Upon a Time, Castle, & Grey's Anatomy

6. Good quality CGI animated movies like Tangled

7. Films shot at 48 frames per second

I'm not sure if this is where this should go, so feel free to move it where it needs to be.

I have a friend who is searching for a music box/snow globe that has Alice in Wonderland on it that is half oil and half water. She found it in person for about $40, and tried to find it cheaper but only found one online that said it was worth $200- which said it was made in 1951 for the release of the movie. She's wondering if this statement is true and if the music box was ever recreated and reissued. Thank you all.

This thread is all about one of my most favorite galleries in the Walt Disney Family Museum, Gallery #7. This gallery is about postwar production,...

This thread is all about one of my most favorite galleries in the Walt Disney Family Museum, Gallery #7. This gallery is about postwar production, the year that Walt tried to diversify his business to save the studio. It features all of the films released between 1945 and 1955 (animation and live-action alike):

The Three Caballeros (1945)

Make Mine Music (1946)

Song of the South (1946)

Fun and Fancy Free (1947)

Melody Time (1948)

So Dear To My Heart (1949)

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949)

Cinderella (1950)

Treasure Island (1950)

Alice In Wonderland (1951)

The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952)

Peter Pan (1953)

The Sword and the Rose (1953)

Rob Roy, the Highland Rogue (1954)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)

Lady and the Tramp (1955)

I spend a lot of time in this gallery when I come here. It is one of my favorites, even more so than gallery #9, which features the big scale model of Disneyland, probably the crown jewel of the museum. But gallery #7 is my most favorite. It shows off the artifacts to create the live-action movies and the artwork of the animated movies. But the best part is this long strip of film that adorns the upper wall of the museum. Here are some shots of it (all in various sizes):

Those images are constantly shifting, as you can see. What do you think of this gallery?

Disney Theatrical's "Mary Poppins" is now in Sacramento. My wife and I just saw the
2nd show of it's run here! Another great Disney Production. Although, I did miss the carousel and dancing penguins, but it was great! LOVED the "Step in Time" number! And the actress that played Mary Poppins, I could have sworn at times I was actually watching Julie Andrews! She looked, sounded, and had the SAME mannerisms as Julie Andrews! Also loved when "Bert" walked completely around the frame of the stage (up the wall, across the ceiling, and down the other wall). So much fun!

So now, I've seen "Beauty and the Beast", "Aida", "Lion King", and "Mary Poppins". Bring on "Tarzan"!!

Anyone else seen this production?

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me with this. So about two months ago I woke up to a "clean comedy cut" on my local Christian radio station. One of the things that he did was a song about Disneyland. I have no idea who performed the original song but I think I remember some of the lines from the song:

"My sister got sick on the teacups, my brother on the Matterhorn. Then we got stuck in a small small world...wish that Mouse had never been born"

Does this sound familiar to anyone? If it does who performed it and/or what is it called?

Thanks

Tokyo DisneySEA Fantasmic review

Hello all I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted on my Facebook about my initial impression with Tokyo DisneySEA's new version of Fantasmic. ...

Hello all I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted on my Facebook about my initial impression with Tokyo DisneySEA's new version of Fantasmic. 2.0 persay. Here is what I thought:

So, I just finished watching Tokyo DisneySEA's version of Fantasmic. Initial impression - the show is visually very good with fountains and lasers, but I really thought the show itself was pretty weak compared to Disneyland's or even Walt Disney World's. More or less combined little snippets of World of Color and Disneyland's Fantasmic, but I just thought it wasn't excuted as well as ours. Of course this is coming off of a youtube video, but I thought it could've been better. Therefore, in my opinion, Disneyland's is still the best Fantasmic! Oh, and our dragon looks and moves way better than Tokyo's.

Now of course I can only judge so much because of how far and inaccessible DisneySEA is to me right now, and it's coming off a Youtube video. The show itself has very many visually stunning effects with LED's, lasers, and really nice looking show barges, but man those things just moved way too slow compared to DL's or WDW's. This is the link I watched: YouTube - Tokyo DisneySEA's Fantasmic! 4/28/2011 1/2 and Part 2: YouTube - Tokyo DisneySEA's Fantasmic! 4/28/2011 2/2. Your opinion may differ of course. But, I think Disneyland's Fantasmic still hasn't been matched, and leads the way in quality, hype, and execution!

I think they did a great job on it! It's almost like WOC and F! combined. I'm jealous of their dragon.. It breathes fire more than once. And their barges are larger.

Overall, I think Disneyland's is the best. This is next to it, though.

A bit of back story, I walked into my local disney store at the end of January to get an application, and was told "we aren't hiring because TDS is opening 2 new stores in Seattle" Applause, Applause! Oh happy day! 2 new stores in my area??? that means lots of job openings!

Well it's 2 months later and I got a call saying they are having an open casting call next thursday, I've googled and searched and some of the info i've found is disjointed and from when The Children's place still owned TDS, so I guess I'm just asking if any of you VFers have some tips for me?

I'm already planning on dressing in black pants and shoes, and a bright professional blouse. I will be sure to smile and keep eye contact.

Mostly I'm worried about the group interview, I've never had one. What sort of questions will they ask?

Thanks for any and all tips

I apologize in advance if this topic has been brought up already...

I've noticed where Disney appears to be turning its back on "ownership" of its properties: namely, dropping the "apostrophe S" in everything it owns or the "presents" titles. It's awkward, it's grammatically incorrect, and it's just plain lazy. What's going on? Do you think it does not want to "own" anything anymore?

I just found out that Mickey's PhilharMagic finally found it's way to Japan 3 days ago when it opened it's doors to the public. Okay, so maybe this isn't overly ground breaking or anything but I've seen pics of the attraction & it certainly has it's unique charms when compared to the incarnations in Florida & Hong Kong. Like, for instance in the lobby (before guests enter the theater) there are dioramas of classic Disney films such as Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin & Peter Pan shown which really adds some flair to this version. Definitely good news for Tokyo Disneyland to get this puppy.

You guys should really check out the pics for the attraction & the video (I will say this, although the film remains the same only translated into Japanese, keep your eyes on the Donald Duck animatronic at the end of the show, his movements have been slightly changed for Tokyo Disneyland).

This is probably going to be quite a depressing thread for the fans, but I must get it off my chest...

Do you think that Disney deliberately tries to ignore the serious Disney fans? It just seems like that everything Disney does lately, its established fans always seem to confront with an objection or two.

Now, I'm not trying to ask if Disney can focus more on the fans than the general public, I'm just trying to find if it's possible for them to try to find a win-win balance for both groups.

I have pictures to go along with my story, I just do not have access to them at this point, so they will be added later.

My husband and I had the oppertunity to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNNSHP) in WDW on October 31, 2009. We decided to go as Brer Fox and Brer Bear. My husband made us awesome costumes (and yes, you did read that correctly). The park was fairly busy. We knew there would be a lot of people who whould have no idea who we were supposted to be, but I was suprised that only a handfull of people knew who we were. Only one guest knew who were were, the rest were cast members. We rode Splash Mountain and none of the cast memebers working the ride had any idea who we were. We had a lot of people ask "Who are you supposed to be?" We'd explain, "Brer Fox and Brer Bear from Song of the South and Splash Mountain." We just got blank stares.

We then decided we wanted to see how well these costumes would do in Disneyland at Mickey's Halloween Party. We went to Mickey's Halloween Party mid September 2010. It was like night and day. Cast members, characters, and guests all got it and loved it!

My question is why would these costumes do better in one park that another? Brer Fox and Brer Bear are out and about at both parks. Splash Mountain is popular at both parks. Any thoughts?

He says that Aladdin, Newsies, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are coming to Broadway in the future. Here's the interview: BWW EXCLUSIVE: Alan Menken Talks TANGLED, SISTER ACT, LEAP OF FAITH, HUNCHBACK, ALADDIN & More 2010/11/15 Page 1
Here's the poll. Which upcoming Disney Musical you're most excited for?

Hi everyone,
I visited the Tokyo Disneyland Park yesterday and to my suprise the park was packed! Even being a weekday with no public holiday or anything. Makes me rethink how many people live in the Tokyo area. I just got 2 questions if anyone can help me answer them.

1. Does space mountain now have no ride music in this park? I rode it twice with no music and was feeling that an integral part of the ride was missing.

2. There seems to be some new construction in fantasy land right beside Pinnocio's daring journey.

Also I must admit that I did wait over 80 minutes to go on Monsters Inc. Ride and go Seek and was suprised to notice that I enjoyed it much more than the Mike and Sully to the rescue. The effects were awesome and at the end of the ride where Roz actually talks about people on the ride, (she said the guy on the right in the first car - I like your type.) Before us I heard her say, (the girl in the second car on the right with the glasses, can I have a pair of those) it was amazing.
