Disney’s Aladdin goes dark until Oct. 7th

Disney park musical goes on hiatus Orange County Register Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular is on hiatus for about a month at Disney California Adventure during construction projects. The Broadway-style musical ended its daily run Monday at the Hyperion Theater. The show is scheduled to resume its regular schedule Oct. 7, said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman. Disney put the musical on a break while construction is underway nearby in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of the park. Is there any way to get information about the Convention Center Schedule including the size of the convention? I was at the resort last January during the NAMM show and it was difficult to get a room where I wanted because of it.

Roads close Sunday for Disneyland Half Marathon

14,000 Disney racers set to close Anaheim streets Orange County Register A record number of Disneyland Half Marathon racers have signed up to run Sunday through Anaheim theme parks and streets, some of which will be closed for the event. The fifth-annual, 13.1-mile race is set to draw 14,000 participants from 16 countries, about 500 more than last year, said Michelle Himmelberg, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman. Motorists should plan to avoid the Disneyland and Angel Stadium area early Sunday morning. I am jetting out on Thursday to visit Anaheim and LA for 3 nights, and i was planning to buy a WOC picnic so i would get a reserved area ticket for the show, but due to drama about a possible airport strike i forgot to buy it and now they are all sold out for the 1st show. So i need to decide either to try and book a dinner at one of the restaurants or get there early in the morning for a fastpass. So i was just wondering what people suggest? Fastpass or reserved dining? I'll be solo if that makes any difference!

My mom and I are looking into our latest trip to WDW. The prices we've seen right now are too expensive to go to WDW right now. But Cali looks like great prices.

I wanted to ask the ultimate questions that I bet has been asked thousands of times:

What is the best hotel (still in a moderate price range)
" " time of the year to go (weather and crowds)
" " things to do in such a time frame (usually between a week or week and a half, maybe a max of five days if we have to shorten it down.)

And I'm not looking for any special holiday things to look forward to. (Halloween, Christmas, etc.)


So, I guess I'm asking to all my fellow VFers, if you never went to So-Cal in your life, and you had at minimum 5 days, a certain medium budget, (but just enough to visit DLR for the time needed) and great stamina to do a lot each day... Where would you go, when will you stay, and what would you do.

I was wondering what rides are typically closed for re-furb in January. Now, obviously Haunted Mansion Hoiliday and I'ts A Small World Holiday will go down for a 2 week re-furb sometime in mid-January, but are there any others?

My last trip to DLR I wore brand new shoes...bad idea. Does anyone have a brand or type of shoe they would recommend for touring DLR?

Ok let me explain, I am getting married in December and my Fiance and I are going to DLR for our honeymoon. We already have a lot of basic items as we have been living on our own for awhile. And while we have registered at Bed Bath and Beyond we couldn't really find enough items to give a good enough variety and choice for our 300ish guests (yes I know 300 is HUGE! We both have big families haha)

Anyway in looking for interesting things to register for we stumbled upon "Honey Fund . com" it is basically a place to register for things and experiences for your honeymoon. You can put anything up on this registry, your guest simply clicks the thing they want to purchase for you, the website prints out a certificate for the guest to place in a card with the money or check for that specific item or experience. The reason we have chosen this is because it allows us to ask for help with our honeymoon but still lets our friends and family know exactly what the money they are giving us is going towards :) (and they still have the choice of getting something at Bed Bath and Beyond if they aren't comfortable with giving Cash)

Ok now for the purpose of this thread: I have run out of creative things to put on our "Honey Fund". So what are some cool things that you all like to do or buy at the parks? Souvenirs or experiences that you think are fun?

As the thread is called, what do you do in order of having a cozy day at Disneyland, well here's my list

1. Have a light breakfast
2. Carry nothig more than my wallet, watch, camera, cell, eyedrops, a pair of tylenol, hand sanitizer and gum (no coins at all)
3. (important) Wear a pair of contacts instead of my glasses
4. Dress in confortable jeans, the lighter shoes, light shirt and a sweater
5. Eat the most healty food inside the park (not much oils, grease etc last time I had a monte cristo, i spent like 2 hours with my belly hurting)
6. Drink water regularly (to avoid dehydration and avoid wasting time at the toilet)
7. Hit the park early
8. If I'm buying something, I check it up early and do the shopping just before leaving (to avoid carrying your stuff)
9. Ride "violent" attractions before lunch (Ex, BMTR, SplashM, IJA, SpaceM, Matterhorn etc)
10. Smile to everyone and have fun!:mickey:

Im going to be in California visiting family Labor Day weekend and Im trying to figure out what will be the least busiest day to go. I know the Half Marathon is also going on that weekend and the holiday weekend...which is going to draw in the crowds. We were thinking Tuesday but when I looked at the DL calendar they close at 8pm and there are no fireworks, shows or anything. Having this be my one day I get to go this year Im thinking about braving it ON Monday which is Labor Day. I was wondering if anyone else has actually gone to DL on Labor day and how the crowds were. Input would be fabulous! Thanks!!

Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival

Disney releases dates for food and wine fest Orange County Register The sixth Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival will run slightly later in the spring in 2011. Disney announced today that the 2011 festival is scheduled for April 29 to June 12. Earlier this year, the event ran from mid April through Memorial Day. The six-week festival at Disney California Adventure often features more than 700 events, including celebrity chef demonstrations, wine and beer tastings and special desserts and dinners. Some signature events sell out, while others are free with theme-park admission. All I can say is WOW...I'm sitting here with over $2200.00 in season passes for my family and find out the Halloween fireworks shows are only going to be for the people who pay EXTRA to go to the Trick or Treat parties. What a sham. The brain trust that came up with this little scam needs to rethink this quick and lay on the show for everyone because right now there are a lot of people like me who are going to vote with their wallets and not buy passes next year. I am usually one of the people who defend Disneyland...Not this time.

Somebody with an inside line needs to get the email addys of the people in charge out in the wild so we can let them know what we think of this disgusting little act.

I am going to Disneyland for my bachelorette party in mid september and am getting nervous that things will still be in transition for Halloween Time.

..Disney's website says Halloween Time begins Sep. 17th. Does that mean the holiday changes for the rides will be complete and open by then?! I'll be there the 18th-20th and really want to do 3 things: ride haunted mansion holiday, see Fantasmic and WOC. I am giving up on Fantasmic since it seems to be only a "summer" thing now.. I don't want to give up on HMH too!

I've been waiting patiently for Disney to update it's website, but I know someone here will know the answer.

I will be off to Disney really soon and since I will be taking a pillow and a blanket with me for Fantasmic, I thought about renting a locker down in Main Street where I can store them for a while and then pick them up when the sun sets. Does anyone know how much they charge to rent a locker? Also, do they charge per hour or entire day? Thank you! :smile:

Sorry for re-posting this. I haven't heard back and thought maybe I posted it in the wrong place. So here is a thread for those wanting to know a little more info on the Preferred or Reserved viewing for World of Color, like myself.

I'm going to Disneyland in August with three others. We are thinking of purchasing the picnic meals. My only question is: How early should we arrive to get our meal and a spot?

I called Guest Services and they told me the reserved viewing may sit in the orange or blue section. I asked him where that was and he had no idea. He said the layout might change. He also advised me that even with reserved viewing, whether it's Ariel's Grotto, the Wine Country Trattoria or the picnic meals, everyone will be standing. My other question is this: Will everyone be able to see? I'm 5'2" (and 3/4!!! :p) and I just hope I'm not paying for reserved viewing if I won't be able to see the show.

Anyone who has seen the show, your help is greatly appreciated! :biggrin:

Has anyone had to do the parental trade-off on Soarin' yet? I have a two year old who won't be able to ride with the rest of us, so we were wondering, where do they have you stand to wait for the rest of your party?

I've heard from some of my friends over at miceage. They say that part of the hotel remodel of the Disneyland Hotel includes getting rid off the Bonita/Wonder Tower Waterfall/ fountain. I've only seen the fountain once. It was rather beautiful at night. Many of us are sad to see it go. What about any of you guys? They're starting a huge discussion hoping to save it. I personally think Disney has made up their mind. So what do you think, improvement, or huge mistake?

Does anyone know approximately how many tickets they'll be selling for the Halloween Party at Disneyland this year? Will they keep it about the same as when it was at DCA or let more in because it's in Disneyland?

Can anyone give me a review of the Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian hotel? It looks fantastic but after seeing their menu online it is quite expensive....

Does anyone the dates for when the Halloween decoorations are supposed to go up at Disneyland this year? We are planning a trip based on our annual pass dates and I am not sure if this is gonna work out.

I've just joined as i was directed here from a trip advisor thread for some advice. I only have one day/night to spend in the Disneyland Parks, and i would love to see both WOC and Fantasmic. Is this doable? If so, what would be my best plan of attack?

Having been a CM, I pretty much know the parks upside down and backwards. HOWEVER, there are still a few places I have yet to eat in, not just in the parks, but in the surrounding areas as well.

I swore I would have a Disney birthday dinner. I've already had my last b-day dinner at the BB, so I'm looking for another place. So far my best thought is Rainforest Cafe, but if anyone can suggest any other places more Disney themed, that would be great!

I'm planning a trip to Disney in early July and I was thinking about taking my digital camera to record inside Space Mountain, my favorite ride! I know it's very dark inside and all, but I want to record so I can keep it as a memory! :smile: So, do any of you have any advice about camera handling, recording in a dark ride and all? This is going to be my first time doing this. I'm also a bit afraid since I really don't want to lose the camera while I'm on board! The good thing about my camera, though, is that it has a sort of wrist handle attached to it so I can hold on to it.


P.S. I also regret not taking a lot pictures on my trip last year! This time, I'm going prepared with the camera! ;)

I've heard several people say they've gotten their Disney tickets from travel agents on Ebay... Are there restrictions on these tickets? Has anyone bought tickets on Ebay? Any feed back on these, it seems too good to be true.

Advantages and disadvantages?

I am headed to Disneyland between August 29th and September 3rd. I have been told that this is one of the busy seasons for the park and this has mildly discouraged me. I was wondering if the following questions could be answered:

1. How long are the lines for popular rides such as splash, space and thunder mountain during the morning, mid day and evening? (Ignoring fastpass systems, I will be making good use of that)

2. How difficult will it be to get reservations for restaurants such as the Blue Bayou?

3. What type of weather is typical for that time of the year? (I'm from up north so dealing with 100 degree weather takes a little bit of effort)

We are thinking of planning a trip to Disneyland for Halloween this year. It is about the only holiday we haven't been to the park for. Any suggestions on when is the best time. Disney just released the dates of Mickey's Halloween Party, Is it worth the extra price for this? They haven't released the ticket prices yet. Is it better to go early Oct or later? or wait till first week of Nov?
