That's right fellow VFer's! The time has come for me to reveal to you the master list of movie release dates for next year! Now, I usually do this in January or February of the subsequent year I'm writing for because January 1st is the unofficial deadline for films to have "official" release dates by studios. Unfortunately, due to the pariah's of confused release dates this past year (eg: Shutter Island, The Wolfman, Nottingham, etc.) the studios have agreed to bump their deadline to November 1st to account for any last minute changes they make for the following year. So, without any further ado, I give you the release dates and sneak peek of the major films of 2010!

Disclaimer: Although these films and their release dates have been posted and confirmed by their respective studios, the studios reserve the right to change their release dates at any moment.

August

22nd - The Green Hornet (Film adaptation of the classic comic and television show starring Seth Rogen)

Now that you've seen the entire list, there are a couple things that I'd like to point out that I've noticed. First off, the summer lineup looks incredibly impressive and to be perfectly honest, also looks more epic than this past year's lineup. Second, there are a lot of films that are going to be released in 3D this year. As much as I enjoy these films with the expansion and revelations made in 3D technology, I believe they are going a little too far with them. A final observation I have made is that the Spring and Summer has an incredible amount of films being released where as the Fall and Winter doesn't have much. That may change at any time, but as of this moment, doesn't look like much.

Other than that though ;), the films I am most excited for are The A Team, Clash of the Titans, Inception, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Toy Story 3, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Legion, Red Dawn, The Wolfman and Tron Legacy.

And now, last, but certainly not least, my list of shame. These are the films I am not excited for in any way or form...

MacGruber (If you look at the track record for films based after SNL sketches, you'll see the odds stacked against this)

Piranha 3D (Really???)

Footloose (Leave the original alone! Especially if the rumors that Zac Effron is starring in it are true)

The Twilight Sage: Eclipse (No Comment)

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (First, why did they get Nicholas Cage to star in this? Second, way to capitalize off of those thinking this will be a Disney film)

Resident Evil: Afterlife (After seeing the failure of the last 2 films, I have a feeling this one won't be any better).

I am currently watching Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure with my 5 year old for the 5th time in a few days. I actually think this is a SUPER CUTE movie.... but I had to share a question my son asked me and get some insight :)

He said "Mom... if they have wings like bugs .... then why do they need pixie dust to fly?" Good question!! Why do they?? Tink runs out of dust and she has to walk everywhere....what good are wings if it's the dust that does the flying.... There has never really been a backstory explaining that... what does everyone else think? I personally think this is just one of those things they didn't properly think all the way through.

Have you noticed anything else like this in other movies? Not like "oops, there's a boom in the shot" or "he was wearing a jacket, and now he's not". More like things contradicting other things in the storyline. Just wondering :) Oh, and what's with the wings and pixie dust???

The Walt Disney Treasures "Zorro" Seasons 1 & 2 are AWESOME! The original black and white episodes. At the end of each episode is the "Next Week" highlights that aired with each episode. Each season comes in a BLACK tin with yellow lettering....very nice! Each season comes with a lithograph...one is Don Diego and one is Zorro. They also include collectible Zorro pins.
The episodes have been digitally remastered and look very clean and nice. When I get the chance, I will scan and post the lithos and pins! Definitely much better than the "colorized" versions they released through the Disney Movie Club!

I was hoping you could answer a couple of questions about Android and Behold2...

Could you tell me what your experiences have been with Android vs. iPhone softwares, and how you think the two operating systems compare (weaknesses vs. strengths)? And what will Behold2 have to offer that is special in the hardware department? In other words, How does it measure up against iPhone?

I know there are a ton of reviews out there, but I'd like to hear a testimonial from you, since you are very technically savvy, and don't have any bias between the two products.

I really want to get rid of my iPhone, not because of the hardware or the apps, but because the service plan is insanely expensive and AT&Ts network coverage is AWFUL. Android has a lot to measure up to, but if it's great, then I would gladly go to another carrier.

Hope you have time to answer. If not, could you link me to some of your favorite review sites for Android? And could you point me to the community spot that you would use to get Apps for Android?

Thanks,

I am extremely upset right now.

I am a senior in high school.

At the end of the year, Seniors are supposed to go to Grad Night. I'm guessing some of you did.

But no.. The majority of students said that Disneyland is too crowded that night, and Magic Mountain isn't, so they want to go there. I guess its also cheaper. We are going to take a vote on it soon. One school in my district already voted and is going to Magic Mountain.

What is happening to the traditions!?

Yes, I know Disneyland is crowded that night. But just being there on Grad Night is the point.

Any thoughts on this? Is this happening to some of you?

Welcome, all! I am pleased, proud, glad, and every good adjective to present you with:
ANOTHER EPIC POP CULTURE STORY!!!

Previously on the last Epic Pop Culture Story...

"So, you got any sevens?" Bart asked Chuck, the shape-shifter fairy from Bikini Bottom. D was in the back of the speeder, filing her nails, while her assistant was holding up a copy of a teen magazine with Robert Patinson on the cover and feeding her a chocolate-covered biscotti.

"No: Go fish." Chuck responded. DHI was next to him, typing away on his laptop.

It wasn't until Captain Kirk noticed DHI typing up "Another Epic Pop Culture Story!" did he say something. "Please, no more! We just found the Coke formula, now what?"

DHI responded, "The relic of- Greetings, readers! I suspect you want a play-by-play of what happened?"

Suddenly, a flash of white came from no where.

"My name is Captain James T. Kirk," Kirk told little Fred in Idaho, just after Judy had left. "How would you like to join me on a quest to stop the evil Darth Vader?"

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" Shouted the cloaked figure first seen in Far Far Away with its original name. A giant foot belonging to Gumby came from the sky and crushed Fred. A scream came from Mushnik's. Kirk and Luke were seen in the trunk of a New York taxi cab driving Kirk around. It stopped at the Around the Clock Cafe where Nicky and Rod were bickering like a married couple.

"Wait a minute, that's not how it happened!" Rod said, pausing the flashback film. "Kirk met Casablanca, then he walked to the cafe, where he met us!"

DHI said, "Just forget it!" With that, the film restarted. Nicky and Rod looked straightforward, smiling, each with clips of each character fading through the corners. Suddenly, clips of the Searchers accomplishing tasks also faded through until they got the Coke madness game. The strategy guide fell from the sky and into Larry's hands. DHI, D, and a little blue dog jumped into the Star Speeder. Now, they had dug up the Mirror of Erised, and they were at the North Pole, speaking to Santa. Each Searcher awoke in unison, with a bottle dropping on Ron's head saying Part 2 of Epic would begin with a musical number almost ensuing.

"Oooohhh.... we're off to--" DHI sang until Kirk looked at him, raising his brow.
"See the lizard, the wonderful lizard of Oz!" DHI continued. Suddenly, all the trees, flowers, and even the sun had come to life and started singing!

I was wondering if you guys knew more about the iPhone than I do. Which is very likely.

In which case, I was wondering... can you get different "themes" for the iPhone, and if so, do you know where to get a legal, licensed iPhone Disney theme?

Thanks.

I see we have a thread about scary movies for Halloween, so how about books? Anyone read a scary book at Halloween? Or just share a book you think is scary and have read some other time.

The scariest book I have ever read was the Exorcist. I read it right after the movie came out. First I went to see the movie and then read the book. I swear, I could not sleep! I was fine with the movie, but the book was freaking me out!

I also read Mary Reilley, which was based on the movie (with Julie Roberts) about Dr. Jeckel's maid. That was pretty tense.

Of course, Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevensen, was pretty good - although short. Makes a better movie, although the way the story is written is just wonderful. I like the movie version that has Spenser Tracy playing Dr. Jeckel.

So, I just picked up Mary Shelley's Frankenstein at the library (I'm there right now) and absolutely will have to read that someday! It seems so easy to get into.

I created this thread out of sheer boredom & because I just had an interesting discussion with an old friend about what films he enjoys watching around Halloween. Since they don't market Halloween films as much as Xmas films it's a bit harder to class what I consider a perfect movie for this holiday. But it usually comes down to The Addams Family (Featuring an awesome job by Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester I may add), the original Halloween (remake just doesn't compare) & The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. So what are your guys' favourite films for this "haunted holiday?"

I'm seeking advice from some of you trained singers out there. I have taken voice lessons, but it's been a long time. I don't sing right now, except when I go to church and for pleasure to the radio. I enjoy swing tunes and standards. Okay, so here is what I want to know. When I want to sing a note I'm holding a little longer or stronger, the top back of my mouth gets to feeling like I am about to cough. Does anyone know what causes this and how I can exercise to stop it or should I try singing past it? Thanks!

Have you ever noticed how some movies are often unscrupulously edited to fit within a fixed range and for content, instead of just going 100%? Why do they do that? To me, that's like how Mr. Sir from both the book and movie versions of "Holes" says, "Once upon a time, there was a magical place where in never rained. The end." Why do they that? And more importantly, what can one do to see the movie in question in its entirety with almost no unscrupulous edits whatsoever?

One obvious solution would be to get a DVD of the movie in question, but wouldn't that mean to basically renounce TV (at least where movies are concerned) and dedicate your life to DVDs?
