Well, as long as the main page and the chatroom are down, we can use the Twitter add-on as a temporary shoutbox to keep in touch during maintenance.

There is a new release for the software that's currently running Visions Fantastic. This new release is significant in that it makes vast improvement in the software's ability to use data from blogs and it will permanently replace the existing content management system on VF with one that is much easier for us to keep updated. We also want to bring more features to VF members and this is the first step in that process.

The upgrade will mean the loss of some features temporarily as we do a significant re-design and rebuild of VF that we haven't done in several years. I believe the benefits outweigh any temporary setbacks and we will be able to enjoy VF hopefully in a much more stable environment.

The new software comes at a hefty price (and incidently, we just paid the yearly lease on the existing software about 2 months ago), so its not a cost the site can just "absorb".

As many of you know, we've been giving away Premium Memberships to those participating in VF events, and we've been giving away those memberships in contests and giveaways.

What that has meant is a significant loss in revenue due to Premium Members not renewing their memberships. Advertising revenue from our ad sales are down this month. In short, we just don't have the cash to cover the upgrade.

After October 30th, the upgrade cost DOUBLES, so if we arent' successful, the upgrade will have to wait for quite awhile.

I'm asking VF members to please do one of three things:

1. Purchase a Premium Membership or renew their existing Premium Membership early for $15 - Purchasing an additional membership lengthens your current subscription.

2. Donate using the PAYPAL button on the main page (Premium Members will need to LOG OUT to see the Paypal button).

3. Do a one-time purchase of a special promotional "button" that will go on your profile as "Upgrade Supporter" - Cost is $25 - Your username will also appear as "Green" and you will get all the benefits of Premium Membership along with it for 2 years. (A $30 value)

I know times are tight for everyone right now. This is a great opportunity for us to upgrade VF and get some fun new features, like blogs, news feeds and integration. We're not out to CHANGE VF, just make it better and easier to use.

The newest VF Contest will take place now through October 31, the Halloween Avatar Costume Contest.

We're looking for the best Halloween themed avatar on VF, and we will award up to two Premium Memberships for the winners. If you already have a Premium Membership, your subscription will be extended.

To play, change your avatar to fit a Halloween theme. The most clever, creative, fun, interesting, or downright spooky avatar will win you the Premium Membership prize. You can change your avatar, user title, signature, and whatever other aspect of your profile you think will help you convey your Halloween theme (all within the bounds of VF Guidelines, of course!)

For a limited time (the month of October), Premium Members have a basket of eggs and can throw eggs at people's avatars. The tell-tale marks appear on your avatar and fade after 12 hours.

You can clean your avatar by egging yourself and choosing either the sponge or towel to "clean" your avatar (remove the eggings). You can select the Spong or Towel by clicking the green splotch under your own Avatar within the discussion board threads.

You can find out who egged you by going into your User Control Panel.

Keep in mind this is a playful feature and isn't meant to be mean spirited. Premium Members are limited to the number of eggings they can do and your avatar will reach a certain number of eggings and then no more will be permitted until they fade.

I know know why it's like that. Apparently my sister thought it would be funny to change it when I registered. I remember what happened. I was almost done registering when I had to use the restroom. So I left my computer on and left for a minute. And so she changed it. Me not knowing she did, finished registering and now it's messed up. Why she changed it, I have NO idea. :(

Hey guys, I don't know if you can help a girl out, but I've been trying to upload some pics on here for y'all (I made a new album called 'Photo Requests' if any of you have any!). First of all, when I try to upload straight from the gallery, I get VF's equivalent of a 404 (link could not be found). After a little bit of searching I found my album and I could get to a page to upload, but this is the text that I got when I tried:

I managed to make my own mp3 of the Visions Fantastic (50th Anniversary remix) theme, and so, I would like to ask the main people on this website.

May I have permission to use the song for a video I am working on and planning on putting on Youtube?

Now, I'm not really upset about banner ads being on the website here, but why do they keep showing the same one over and over again? And why are they always about Disney World more often than not?

Maybe I just need to be patient LOL but wondering how long it takes to get into Napa Rose as i've requested and I see that request but I keep getting a message that I'm not allowed in.

A big congratulations--and also a thank you!--to both ShrunkenNed and Lovesdisney for being selected as the new Visions Fantastic staff members! ShrunkenNed has been a very active member on these boards for a long time and will do a great job being a Mod in his very Ned-like way =) Lovesdisney will be the new update photographer and with her enthusiasm, she will do a great job also. Congratulations to both of you and thank you for volunteering your time to help make VF even better than it already is. Good luck with your new positions!!

I remember a while ago they had this on VF. When you had an acronym for something in Disneyland, such as DLR, it would highlight the acronym. Then if you were to hover your cursor over the acronym, a little message would appear and tell you what it stood for. What happened to this little feature? I liked it because it came in handy when I didn't know what some of the Disney acronyms meant!

Visions Fantastic currently has two staff positions that need to be filled and we welcome the interest of our VF member community.

The following positions, are, obviously, unpaid positions. As a staffer you will be expected to meet certain criteria and produce material. These materials are the properties of Visions Fantastic. (For instance, you can't use things you've created as a staffer on VF on your own personal blog, website, etc). If we cannot find an appropriate person to fill the position, the position will remain open.

Couple of rules regarding staff positions:

1. Staffers must be 18 years of age or older and must be able to furnish their own transportation when needed (VF special events, etc).

2. Staffers must be a member of Visions Fantastic in good standing for at least one year and must have at least 200 posts.

3. Staffers must adhere to codes of conduct as a VF staff member and act appropriately at VF events and elsewhere online when representing VF.

The two positions currently open include:

1. Moderator: As a Mod, you will enforce the VF guidelines when neccessary and assist VF members with issues they may be having with the website/radio, etc. Mods must be 18 years of age and must be a very active member in the VF community. Mods must be able to devote a number of hours per week to website duties. Good communication skills are very important.

To apply: Send a PM to Chris stating your past experiences as a Mod, or as a VF member and give examples of how you've been helpful in the past.

2. Website Photographer (No, DaddyB isn't going anywhere), but we need a photographer who can visit the park on a regular basis (2-3 times per month) to take photos, get up-to-date information about the Resort, and assist in VF special events. Photos will be featured in our weekly Disneyland Resort Update. An annual pass (preferably Deluxe or Premium), good photographic skills and good communication skills are required.

Note: Being a staff member does not neccessarily bar you from VF events like the Scavenger Hunt or DCA Dash.

To apply: Send a PM to Chris with examples of your photography (Note, we are not looking for "desktop quality" photos, but simple snapshots that showcase skills in exposure, composition and focus.).

Visionsfantastic.com - Disneyland Resort Update - May 25, 2009

I'm a member on another non-Disney forum, and they completely changed the look of their whole website. It went from white and blue to black and gray. It's such a difference and it's just not the same. I would be so sad if I came to this site one day and was greeted by yellow and green or something else drastically different. Who else loves the VF purple scheme?

I have been a member of VF for a couple of years and love the content. I have been spending more time on here now than I ever had being a Cast Member and that the theme park enthusiast site that I worked for has shut down. But in the time I have been a member of VF, I have looked now and then into becomming a premium member. Everytime I would look to sign up, I would go to the Premium Membership information page and would follow the link to go to the payments page. However, everytime I would go the the payment/subscriptions page....it is not listed. Is VF Premium Membership available at this time? Any help would be much appreciated.... thanks.

Also, if there is a recent thread discussing the same subject...I apologize for posting this. I made sure that before I started a new topic that I went through and checked to see what other topics were available. As far as I checked...the topic most related to mine was made in '07. So again I will apologize if this is a repost of some kind.

Okay, for those entering teams in September's Scavenger Hunt, or just want a souvenir of this event, the official T-Shirts are now ready to order. Below you will find samples of what they will look like. The back will have the official event logo and the front will have the VF logo along with your teams logo, if you have one. This year we're trying out different colored shirts.

For the men, these T-Shirts will be available in either White or Ash Gray in sizes Small through 4X. Please note that sizes 2x, 3x, and 4x are $3 more per shirt. Please notify myself if you want these sizes before ordering so we can work out your payment for the extra $3.

I've been on alot of forum sites (disney and non-disney alike) and I have noticed somthing special about this site. On alot of sites (im not gonna mention names) people will bash you and post some pretty rude things about an opinion you've put up. Here, that never happens! Whenever two users have clashing opinions, they'll usually both respect each others point of view. I love that about this site. In my entire time on VF i don't think anyone has ever bashed me or someone else, unlike some of those other sites.

So I just thought I'd put that out there :smile: And I hereby award VF the

VF is now part of Twitter. Updated news stories will be posted to our Twitter so you can easily get these updates. We will also be utilizing Twitter for future VF events so we can get updates quickly posted. It's also a fun place for VFers to get together and start "following" eachother's tweets.

This is my third time asking this question. Where is the link to contact the administer? I can't get into the VF Arcade site, even though I have log in information. Can someone out there at least answer just a simple question?

Hi Folks,

I've sent out some PMs to those of you who are either have too large of an avatar, or too many images/lines in your sigs. Please take a moment to read over VF guidelines regarding your sigs and avatar image sizes. We have let it "slide" for a number of you but it's gotten a bit out of hand. For those visiting the site on a lower resolution, the larger avatar sizes make reading the site difficult. For those on slower connections, multiple images in your sigs take more time for each page to load.

Some websites have installed hack that places your sig within a frameset. We don't want to resort to this method because it makes scrolling thru messages difficult. Please understand that we want you to express yourself thru your sig, but please keep within the limits we've layed out.

I hate my school. Their "X-Stop Safe Filter" won't allow me to get on VF at school. :frown: And I can't apply for an unblock because there is no way they's approve it because it is "not school related". :icon_cry::mad::icon_evil:frown:

* = Park admission is not included in your registration. You are responsible for entry into Disneyland, along with all associated costs (parking, food, beverages, etc). No items will be located inside Disney's California Adventure, so you will NOT need to purchase a Park Hopper ticket. However, there is a chance that we will try to get a group to go into DCA after the event for a meal or the go on some attractions.

Now this is a game for a team consisting of two people with at least one of them a current member of Visions Fantastic in good standing. Only the two people on the team may search the park looking for the items. Visions Fantastic staff and event volunteers will be scouting the park for teams that are asking for help from anyone else, including Cast Members. Again, this is prohibited. All the rules listed below must be strictly adhered to. Any team found to be deviating from any these rules will immediately be disqualified and have their Scavenger Hunt booklets removed from their possession. Please make sure that you fully understand these rules before submitting your entry. If you have any questions regarding the Scavenger Hunt, please PM Cavemandon prior to sending him your player information.





Official Rules:

1. Each team must send in their team entry fee of $40 prior to Saturday, August 15th, 2009.
2. Each team must PM Cavemandon with the following information immediately after sending in their team entry fee: Team name, VF screen names, real names, email addresses, camera type, and memory card type. If the team information is not sent, the VF Staff will disqualify the team and return that team's entry fee minus any PayPal fees.
3. Children under the age of 16 may enter the game, but they must bring with them a written permission letter from their parents before they can begin the game. It is important to note that the parents may NOT walk around the park with their children's team at any time during the game.
4. Parents who wish to enter a team into the event who have children must also be aware that any children over the age of five may NOT accompany the team during the actual event. They are welcome before and after, but not during.
5. Cavemandon will send each team member a PM confirming that the entry fee and team information have been received.

Now for the rules during the game:

1. You must take pictures of the items listed in the booklets. Only one item will count in each picture and you must get EXACTLY what is asked for, not something similar.
2. Points are awarded for every correct photo of an item is taken. The different point values will be listed in their respective sections of the booklet.
3. Before starting the Visions Fantastic Scavenger Hunt IV, we ask that the first photo be taken of yourself to better identify your team and the card.
4. Teams are allowed to use only one (1) digital camera that uses a single removable memory flash card.
5. No cell phone or non-flash memory card type cameras may be used.
6. Only one (1) flash memory card may be turned in per team. Be sure that you have enough space on it.
7. No "backup" cards will be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS
8. The above stated flash memory card must be turned in along with the team's booklet at both the 11:30 am and 4:00 pm check in to be judged. These memory cards will be returned to the players after the judging has been concluded.
9. All photos taken become the property of Visions Fantastic and will be deleted from the memory flash card.
10. Any team that fails to check in at the designated check in locations at both the 11:30 am and 4:00 pm cutoff time will automatically be disqualified.
11. No photos may be taken on or in any area where it is clearly stated NO PHOTOGRAPHY or NO FLASH PICTURES. Any photos that the judges find haven been taken in any of these areas will not be awarded any points, regardless if they are correct. To note, there are no items located where in these areas.
12. However, some items may or may not be located where the above photography rules do NOT apply. In fact, some items can only be located while on an attraction or in an attraction’s queue.
13. All items are located inside Disneyland Park. There are no items located in Down Town Disney or Disney’s California Adventure.
14. No photos may be taken outside of the Disneyland Resort.
15. No team may ask for or receive ANY assistance from ANYONE including other Disneyland Resort guests and/or any Disneyland Resort Cast Member for ANY reason. Any team found asking for or receiving assistance will be immediately disqualified and their team’s booklet will be confiscated. Teams will be provided with card explaining the event and why you, the team players, cannot talk to them.
16. No electronic devices may be used at ANY time during the event, besides the single digital camera of course. These items include cell phones, PDA devices, walkie-talkies, GPS units, etc. Any team found using any of these banned devices by a Visions Fantastic staff or event volunteer will have their score disqualified.
17. All teams must obey any/all Disneyland Resort rules and regulations at all times. Teams may not enter into any area where normal park guests are not allowed to go.
18. Above all other rules listed above, please do not interfere with any other Disneyland Park guest. Don’t ruin their day by trying to get in front of them to take a picture of something.
19. As a participant of the VF Digital Scavenger Hunt IV, you are acting as a member of Visions Fantastic. Please act in a way that reflects professionalism and pride in the website.

Also available to all the players are event T-Shirts for $25. These shirts will feature the event logo on the back, with the players name and the Visions Fantastic Logo on the front. These T-Shirts will be available in either ash gray or white only. We are still working on dark color shirts. If the players wish to purchase an event T-Shirt, they can purchase the shirt at the same time they are sending in their entry fee or at any time prior to the event entry cutoff date of Thursday, August 15th, 2009. These T-Shirts will be available for pickup at the 7:30 am check in. No shirts will be available for purchase on the day of the event. It is requested that anyone ordering shirts PM Cavemandon so he knows what size, gender, and color... :)
