Hello, lovely VF community.

So, I'm starting my first ever bloggy thing...yeah! :D

I've never really done one before, and this one will mostly be about my trip to Disneyland in December that I can't stop talking about. I figured since I can't stop talking about it, I should at least have an outlet for all of my excitement, right?

There will be other stuff about my life in it too, of course, like graduating college, getting a job, etc. etc. The focus is on DISNEYLAND, though!

I honestly have NO IDEA what I'm doing, but it's nice to have somewhere to rant and rave to. I don't mind if nobody reads it, honestly. However, if anyone takes even a slight interest go ahead and check it out, I guess. Only one post so far will probably do another today if I get the chance.

Hey everyone...

Been awhile since I've received any new autographs (basically because I haven't sent out any letters recently). But since it's summer, I have had more time to write to more celebrities to see who'd send me an autographed picture.

I received my first autograph of this summer today from Ms. Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes, Morning Glory, Time Traveler's Wife, etc.)

Her autograph now makes number 131 in my collection!

A couple months ago, I created a new blog called "Confessions of a DisNerd," a celebration of all things Disney and the way we encounter them through life. This includes theme parks, movies, music, product, and maybe even things that aren't Disney, yet somehow appeal to the Disney geek inside all of us anyway.

Some articles from the blog have also made their way to the articles section here on VF, under ShrunkenNed's Jungle Tidbits.

I recently upgraded and bought the domain and expanded space, along with a new layout. At this time, I'm currently going through "The 15 Day Disneyland Challenge," a Facebook based "challenge" that asks favorite rides, memories, etc.

Got an idea for a book

Well I figured on my way home from picking up my sister at school to write a book about rides and attractions from a ride operators perspective (former). I have some ideas on where I want to take the book but would be open to suggestions. I know that the theme parks will more than likely see this and question me about it. Anyone got any bright ideas.

"What's Next for WoL" Survey and Findings

Hey everyone!

Okay, so many of my elementary teachers asked me to come in and read to their class on Friday, March 2nd for "Read Across America Day" celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Well, on that day I'm already presenting three Character Education assemblies for the 900 1st - 6th graders for most of the day.
So...to help be a "reader" for their class, I created my own Read Along story.

Hello All!

Been awhile since I posted a new thread here!

Today, I received a great new Podcast Introduction from Mr. Maurice LaMarche - voice of The Brain on "Pinky and the Brain", Lt. Kiff Kroker, Morbo the News Caster, and Calculon from Futurama. He's also the voice of Mortimer Mouse on Disney's House of Mouse as well as many, many more.

I wrote him a letter a few months ago and his agents just delivered it to him (which proves that good agents deliver fan mail!).

Anyway, I took his intro and plussed it a little with some music....check it out:

So I just got back from Disneyland, and finally got to see World of Color! I had no intention of filming it, until I got to our section and saw that I was right at the water's edge. So I didn't have my good camera on me, but I think it came out pretty nice anyhow on my little point-and-shoot. Unfortunately my camera only shoots for 10 minutes in HD at a time, so it is split into four parts. While it's a little close, I thought it was fantastic, seeing it without any annoying flashing lightsabers or mouse ears in front of me.

I got another "Disney" introduction to my podcast for my students. This one is from Mrs. Camille Dixon who is the voice of Disney's California Adventure and get this...she's also married to Mr. Bill Rogers, who, of course, is the Voice of Disneyland! How cool is that? Anyway, take a listen and you'll probably recognize her voice right away!

Map of WDW - Help Needed

Hey guys,

I've been working for close to a year on a map of WDW in Google Earth. The project started out as updtating a map file i downloaded, but evolved into creating the best map of WDW for Google Earth. But with school and other commitments eating up time, I cannot do the research to get the map updated. Once all the research is done, it's simply a lot of coding (which is 30% done) and cut and paste.

Currently, I am trying to use as much Official company images, decriptions, links, and menus. Some things do not have pages or are out of date even on the offical Disney site. This is where you come in:

I need:
- Names of Shops and locations (either GPS coordinates or overhead images from GE with area marked off) with name for all parks and resorts
- Any name of important places for hotels (Ex. Name of Shops at Yacht and Beach Club) for me to find places

If anyone can either copy and paste basic html coding, find and copy links, or organize sections of the KML file that would be great. The faster the coding gets done, the faster I can release the Map.

An encyclopedia for WDW's Magic Kingdom

I have this little pet project of mine that I'm doing in my spare time: an unofficial encyclopedia for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. It's actually based on a preexisting encyclopedia about Disneyland by Chris Strodder:

The problem is, I have no idea how to go about doing this. I want it to be like the Disneyland encyclopedia, but I'm worried about copying too much from the book. Do you have any ideas what I should do?

If anyone is interested, I recently finished editing together a 3-angle version of Fantasmic in California, similar to what I did with Illuminations at EPCOT. Beauty and the Beast 20th Anniversary Audio Commentary... By Us!

Hello VisionsFantastic!
My name is Michael, but most people call me Strat. I'm a young person, very young, probably one of the youngest to run a Disney podcast, but I could be wrong. My podcast focuses on short shows about Disney history, called D-History, mainly focusing on Disney audio (check it out here). But I'm not here to plug, like most people do.

Instead, I am here to present to you guys a project that I have been working on since I started D-History, and that is special episodes and projects. Some of those are already going to happen in 2011: Musicians Month, 5 episodes all about Disney musicians, in March, and Opening Motnh, 5 episodes about the opening of 5 Disney Parks, in celebration of WDW's 40th Anniversary.

However the biggest project is an audio commentary done by us, fans, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie. That's right, a full-fledged audio commentary, where some of us will sit around on Skype, somehow start the movie at the same time in our homes, comment it, and later release it as a free download. Now, here are three questions that I want the fans to decide:

1. What type of commentary should it be? Humorous, a la Rifftrax? Informative? Trivia?

2. Who should be in this audio commentary?

3. How many people should be in this audio commentary?

I would love for you guys not only to answer, but to post a thread about this idea in other Disney sites out there. I want the fans of the movie to mostly decide how this will work. What do you guys think?

I haven�t been active on the forums here, but I�ve been reading your posts here for a bit now. I�m hoping that some of you may be able to help me on a project I�m working on.

I am a graduate student at California State University Northridge (anthropology), and am working on a research paper about Disneyland. The class I�m writing it for is about pilgrimages, festivals and tourism, and I�m interested in the importance of participation in guests� experiences in Disneyland.

Part of my research includes using a survey to collect information, and I would be very pleased if you would consider answering it.

I just love fireworks and hav recently started a blog discussion about my upcoming spectaculars. I did a Light Magic remake not to long ago, and it recieved good press. I am now working on a Christmas show that is set to debut in early November. I've also come up with a brand new type of concept, something that has never been seen before. MLB Umpire Ejection Fantasy League

The MLBaseball Season has been over for several weeks now, but the following is a link to my baseball website: The Left Field Corner is a host to the MLB Umpire Ejection Fantasy League, which keeps track of all MLB ejections from the first pitch of Spring Training to the last of the World Series. The League (UFL) assigns points, accuracies, and records many more statistics regarding the world of MLB Ejections.

For instance, did you know...

In 2008, the Texas Rangers were ejected more times than any other team (15 times... the Orioles and Tigers tied for second place, with 12).
From 2003-2008, the number of ejections has been on the decline, with 289 ejections in 2003, 236 in '04, 227 in '05, 218 in '06, 215 in '07, and 208 in 2008.
In 2008, for the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim held the highest ratio for most ejections as a result of incorrect calls to total ejections classifiable as correct/incorrect: 85.7%.
In 2008, there were only six ejections for arguing a HR/Not HR call. Of these six, three were blown calls and three were the correct call.
Most ejections occur in the bottom of the 7th inning of an MLB contest (followed by the top of the 7th)

This is an all-new area of VF, and we reserve the right to change these guidelines at any time.

We do have a few guidelines for Pet Projects, so please take a moment to review them:

1. Content must be appropriate for the VF community - Profanity, nudity, sexually oriented content is not allowed.

2. Linking to Commission Pages (or pages that are link farms) where you receive compensation for clicks/visits are not allowed and will be considered commercial spamming.

3. Bumping your topic to keep it current is against VF guidelines.

4. Advertising your thread via the shoutbox, chat room or other threads on VF is not allowed.

5. Using the private messaging system of VF to get people to visit your thread, web site, or project is not allowed.

6. Linking to ANY copyrighted materials is not allowed (audio, video, photos that don't belong to you).

No. We will be opening another forum soon for these kinds of postings.

2. If I have ongoing updates to my blog, should I use the same thread or create new ones each time?

Use one thread and post updates accordingly. Make sure you clearly state you have an update so we don't think you're needlessly bumping your thread.

3. Can I put the URL of my update thread in my sig?

Yes.

4. Am I limited to the number of posts I can do?

At this time there is no set limit to the number of threads you can make in this section. However, excessive posting will be considered abuse and action taken accordingly. If the staff feels you are abusing the good graces of Pet Projects, your threads may be merged or deleted.

5. If I am doing updates, and I create a new thread for each update, at which point does it become "excessive posting".

This is a judgement call based on what the staff feels goes beyond the bringing of useful linking and borders on self-promotion and spamming. Multiple threads MAY be merged into one thread once we feel the user in question has posted an unreasonable amount of new threads for each update.
