I was reading a review about the new Pirates movie that said "The film also marks the debut of a snappy new logo for Walt Disney Pictures that gives Sleeping Beauty's Castle a glittering cityscape in which to shine." Here's the link. What do you all think of a new logo? I think it sounds pretty cool.

I don't have one......the new logo will DEBUT at the beginning of the new Pirates movie that comes out on Friday. You'll have to wait until then.

Cool... As long as they don't get rid of Sleeping Beauty Castle and replace it with Cinderella's Castle, I am cool with it!

It will remain Sleeping Beauty Castle, with a few changes to what surrounds it.

Well, I saw the new Disney logo last night at the beginning of Pirates and let me tell you.....its AWESOME!! It's like a realistic 3D version of the castle, not just a sillouette. It is so cool you guys, you're gonna love it!!

BUT, it's WDW's Cinderella's Castle, NOT DL's Sleeping Beauty Castle, which has been Disney's logo since the old Disneyland TV show in 1955. I'm more than a little dissapointed by that...

I don't care....it looks better than the old one.

Wow you are going to be MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Yeah after I saw the logo at Pirates, I nearly did a spit take. I was so mad. How could they replace the classic SBC logo with a short WDW Commercial. Thats what it is. Oh I couldnt get that out of my head. I am glad they went digital because they were the only company who didnt have a digital logo but man oh man. I am furious.

yeh it should be the sbc but oh well it is awsome

oh yeh what does it matter it is a disney movie not a theme park

k_peek_2000
07-08-2006, 12:22 AM
Well its not about the theme parks. SBC has always been the symbol of disney. Its much more charming that Cinderellas Castle and people are like aww when they see it lol. But I remember seeing that the new logo was SBC and Cinderella Castle combined I remember seeing that box thing on the left size of SBC next to Cinderella castle. But yah. Its definatly an upgrade. I just pray Pixar didnt change their logo.

07-08-2006, 01:21 AM
Space is right.
From what I saw, it wasn't Cindy's castle at all, seemed like a costco-sized version of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. I love how it looks though.

k_peek_2000
07-08-2006, 01:57 AM
Beleive me it was a mix of both SBC and CC. I know I looked at the details. It had the little clock on the front as well as the mini SBC at the top that CC has but around the castle I had the SBC Details.

I didn't entirely care for it either. It looked like there was a river flowing through the castle! Lol.

Maybe Disney wanted to be viewed as a company, not a theme park, and that's why there seems to be no specific definition as to whose castle it is.

But as Space said, it's a logo. I'm excited to see it. And yeah, that movie that follows should be ok, too...

Have you seen the logo? It starts off as a view and a train appears on a track going around the rivers of america and zooms out to the Cinerella Bueaty Castle. It is most definatly show that its a theme park company now. I think the old one was less of a theme park thing that this.

Hmmm.....let's see. If I take a picture of the new Disney Logo and compare with Cinderella's Castle. Does it look similar with it? Hmm...

Ezra
07-08-2006, 01:55 PM
And its not Cinderella's castle because it doesn't have the little thing on the front near the entry way It looked almost exactly like it, except for the big hubcap looking stained glass "Magic Mirror" they put on it last year for the "Happiest Celebration on Earth". Temporary decorations don't count. Here's what it looks like without it: Cinderella's Castle (http://gallery.newrecruit.org/files/original/photo26876.jpg)

OK, now I can say - I saw it. The design of the castle - be what it may - didn't bother me. It was a beautiful intro, and I honestly got goose bumps. I agree w/ Space Mountain - it's a castle. Is it reflective of a theme park castle? Maybe - but it's still different. Let's just call it the Disney Logo Castle inserted into a beautifully put together scene and leave it at that.

Anyone have any idea if we can find an online video of this anywhere? Please let us know, cause I saw it tonight at the theater, but it went by too quickly for me to really pay attention.
But I have to say, I loved it! I am as big a Disney fan as the next, but moreso a WALT Disney fan. And one thing I am always reminded about Walt is that he was always for Plussing, and I personally think this is a plused Disney Pictures Logo. Just my two cents...

and again, if anyone knows where we can find this video online, please share!

I agree 100 %!! The new logo, regardless of whether or not it is Sleeping Beauty's Castle, has a very "Disney" feel to it, even more than the old one. So I think they succeeded in their task.

(I found this while browsing another forum. All I did was enlarge the picture.)

I must say it looks very nice, and I do see influences from both castles. Or maybe Disney wanted it to look more like it did in the Sleeping Beauty film:

Found it on another forum while searching and googling for the new logo. Man, practically EVERY Disney forum is talking about this and debating which castle it is. :icon_roll Some people just need to take a chill pill.

Nice photoshopped pic, k_peek_2000. I think that shows that the new castle logo very well may be the lovechild of the DL and MK castles.

Wouldn't be great to live in a place like that? Awesome.

i still sort of stick with my first impression.. that they wanted the bottom wide and the base familiar with the traditional logo but more people recognize wdw's towers nowadays so they used them.

I really really liked the new logo! I didn't know there was going to be a new logo 'til I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and when I saw Cinderella's castle and heard the music it felt so much like Disney! It was simply beautiful! I want to go back!!!

And for the record, Tokyo Disneyland's Cinderella Castle's turrents also look similar to the new logo's turrents. TDL & MK's Cinderella Castle's are very similar but not perfect resemblences of each other. MK wishes it had the awesome fountains!

During my day at Disneyland Thursday(7/27) my friend and I took a quick break 'cause it was really hot out and saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Since it was my 2nd time seeing it I knew about the Disney logo so I decided to record it in the theater, and there was pretty much no one in there so the video is okay quality. Hope you all enjoy! It's a real tear-jerker and is very Disney-feely

The final result is better than their old logo, so I say "GREAT JOB DISNEY!!" Who cares which castle it is, besides, I think we've established that its a combination of castles, not just any specific Disney castle.

I just figured out, it is not Cindy's Castle, or Aurora’s it is...................................... ........................................ .......................TINKERBELLS! LOL, j/k I don't care who’s castle it is, I bet we are the only people who would study the logo this much(not that this is a bad thing), let alone argue about it. Anyway way it looks good so it does not matter who's castle it is. Even though I do think it is a combo, but I did not get a really good look at it.
