Hi there!

I have been posting in the wrong section, so no wonder I wasn't getting any replies, lol!

I just got my Nikon D50 two days ago. IT IS FANTASTIC!!!

I have a couple of questions regarding the use of it, and regarding hardware.

1.) What is your favorite online resource for lenses, filters, and accessories?

2.) Do any of you know of a good, free online tutorial on SLR photography? I have been a point and shoot photographer up to this point, and I want to unleash the potential of this camera. Again, I have been a one-button guy to date, so I am a TOTAL NOOB. I don't know what f-stop is, what ISO is, what white balance is... or how they work together. I guess I am looking for a lesson-by-lesson approach to successful SLR picture taking.

Thanks, looking forward to your replies.

Hans

1) You mean to purchase them? I buy virtually all my equipment through B & H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com) - they're incredibly reliable, and have good prices on a lot of their stuff. As far as a stricly-information resource, I haven't found a really good one yet.

2) I like to refer people to this (http://www.thepeaches.com/photography/Basics.htm) page for that sort of information. I think it does a very good job of explaining ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and the basics of lenses, filters, and even a bit of composition, and it's all done in layman's terms. My advice is to find something simple around the house that you can use as a practice object. Learn how the settings work, then play around with them on your own camera at home to get a really good feel for them. That way when you go someplace where you intend to take a lot of photos, you're more prepared.
