From the looks of it, it looks similar to the Sims Online or whatever it is.

I am not trying to bash it, so please don't take it that way, but what is the point of it? I seen somebody won an ipod nano, but is that a common occurrance? Are the pins real or are they icons that are tagged to your profile? I seen a picture of a booth at Disneyland, what is the purpose of it? I have seen some threads where codes are posted to get points...what do you do with the points?

Just curious, I am not much of a gamer, but my little girls love online games (nickjr, disneychannel, barbie to name a few sites) and would love another disney game.

TIA

VMK is kind of a gaming/community area.

You get to make your own character to walk around all the different lands of the VMK Disney park. (One of mine is in my signature) The park has a Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland and Main Street. And you even get your own room to decorate with the items you can buy in the VMK stores.

You can talk to other players. But the VMK staff is very strict in what you can say, so some words you can't even type. So you little one should not be able to give out her age, school grade, phone number, home address, etc...

In the different area there are games to play. In fantasyland you have an Fireworks game. Where you click on the different fireworks to make a fireworks show of your own. You get credits when you play this game.

In adventureland you have the Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean. In the Jungle Cruise you take a boat ride a long the river and take pictures of the animals you see along the way. Each animal is worth different points, each ride will also get you credits. For Pirates, you compete against another team and try to sink there pirate ships while at the same time pick up ammo and supplies.

In frontierland we have the Haunted Mansion game. In this one you and some others go through the haunted mansion and catch the pink or green ghost who call it home. Agian, the more ghost you find the more credits you get.

Then on main street usa, you will find out about the Hidden Mickey quest, throughout the areas of the VMK world are Mickey Head shadows. You have to take a pic of them when you find them, when you find them all
(50) you get points and items you have to pick up at the parks.

Now ALL pins that you buy in the VMK stores or the one you win are virtual. They go into your characters storage area, and then you are able to pick the 8 pins you would like to wear, be it all the time or just for the day. These pins you are able to trade with other players in the game, if you would like.

As for the IPOD, no those are not an everyday occurrence. In the month of February, they had some ride-a-thons in some of the staff room. While you were riding you had the chance to win the IPOD, but it was like one person picked per hour...or something like that. For the month of March they are having a Villains month, so they have some staff rooms set up to give people a chance to win some virtual prizes. Like credits or pins.

The codes you are seeing are codes for virtual magic pins and credits. The credits you use to go shopping, be it to buy clothes for your character or furniture for your room(s) or even pins. Like this past weekend, they had a green weekend because it was St.Pattie's day. So they releases for the weekend only a green superhero outfit, a green clover pin, a green barrel chair, a green tiki bamboo room divider. And this coming weekend a new superhero out fit is suppose to be released. There should be four in all. But you have to play the games to get the credits to be able to buy the items in the store.

Now the booth at the parks, because there is one at DLR and WDW is for the park only quest and to redeem some of the PDF prizes you win for playing some of the games on-lne. On the park quest, you pick up a card and go through the park answering the questions. When you have them all answered you go back to the booth, for each answer correct you get a VMK card that will have a code on it. The code will give you virtual furniture or clothes that can only be gotten for your character in the parks. Some of these item are like Stitch Teleporters, Teleport magic pin, Penny Press, etc...

Another only in the parks thing is to get a "born in park" badge. These is when you go to the parks and make your character at the VMK areas. You get black mickey ears, the badge and 5 rooms.

Now VMK is closed for now. But if you would like I can take some screen shots of some of the areas and post them here. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would also like to ask a question: How many rooms are you allowed to have? Because I think I read once there's a limit, but I don't know exactly. I have 4 rooms now but I would like to built a really good ride and add a few new rooms. And another question: Is there a site where you can find out about the abbreviations that people use when they chat? Because I often don't understand what they mean (this is my own fault, I have to say that I'm German). "dc", does that mean "disconnected"? Is it normal that people get disconnected once an hour or so? Is this a problem VMK has or is that the player's own fault?

For rooms I have never heard of a limit. My main character has 13 rooms, five of those are the new Everest room. So if you don't need 13 rooms for your ride you should be safe. Also if you make the rooms these free rooms, like the skull rock room, the Everest or the space mountain room. When you are done with them then you can sell them back. You can get 5 credits for the Skull Rock Room, and 100 credits for the Everest Room. I am not sure how many credits you can get for selling back the Space Mountain room, will have to check that out when I get on tonight.

As for the abbreviations others use while talking on VMK, I have yet to see a guide. But a lot of it you see in normal chat area talk. And yes "dc" is for disconnected. "l8r" is for later, "gg" is for good game, "gl" is for good luck. If there are some others you can think of post them here and I will see if I can translate them for you.

Now as for the "dc"ing every hour, there are some users who have this problem. It all depends on how many people are on VMK at the time. You can get "dc"ed if you have not moved in a while, so this some times become a problem during the staff games, when you are waiting in a staff game cue. But some times a box will pop up saying you haven't moved in a while and if you didn't click the box in so many minutes then you will be "dc"ed. I get that a lot when I am trying to traded between my characters. But a lot of these "dc"s are because of VMK, they only have so many servers to run the game. So if you aren't doing anything then they sign you off themselves. But a small percentage can be blamed on the players computers.

Thank you very much, this helped me a lot. I always used to sell the Everest rooms I won because I thought you are not allowed to have many rooms. I thought about where I had this from and I found out that I read it here on the forum, post #108, page 8 of "post your VMK names here":
my name was Wildangelica until they said i couldnt go in because i had about 30 rooms and they said only 5 rooms and i didnt know that
Maybe 30 rooms are really too many, but when you say you have 13 rooms, I think it will be okay for me to buy 3 or 4 more. ;)

For that getting disconnected thing: it is only very annoying when it happens during a game. I waited a few days ago half an hour to get in that "Chernabog ring of fire" room (I was behind 48 other players), and when I was in the room and it was my turn, I got disconnected. :(

I think I got this right: you have different VMK characters?! Is it possible to trade with a character that is not logged in at the time I am logged in? I ask because my boyfriend and I, we both have one VMK character on our own. My character has 2 Everest chairs and my boyfriend would like to get one of them, but I don't think that works. I tried to log in both characters at the same time (we're both using the same computer), but it didn't work. Maybe you know what we could do, because you also have different characters.

And another question. When you win the Hidden Mickey game or the Jungle Cruise game, you get that "certificate" you can save to a file or print out, which you have to bring to Disneyland. What do you get when you bring them to Disneyland? I am just curious, I think I'm not going to DLR or WDW in the next 5 years... (unfortunately, it isn't for Disneyland Paris, too)

Yea, I hate it when I have spent the time to wait in line for the staff games and I get dc just as soon as I get into the room. What some people have found that works for them is if they have already been on for a while. They sign out and sign back in to VMK. Then they go straight for the staff game line. It seems to work better for some then others. Give that a try some time, see how it works for you.

Yes, I do have more than one character on VMK...I have 4 of them. Three girls and one boy. I will try to post pics later. You can't trade with anyone unless they are also signed on. So there are a couple of things you can do. If you are using IE (Internet Explorer) After you have the sign up window up hit ctrl-n and a new window should pop up that will let you sign in a different account. I have never done it this way, but others have. Another way is to download another explorer, the one that a lot of people use (me as well) is Firefox. I wouldn't use it for regular web surfing, but it is what I use when I need to trade between my people. I will have one in a IE window and one in a Firefox window. It has worked pretty well so far.

Now the PDF certificates that you get for winning some of the games. Those are only good for so long...so if you will not be getting to one of the American parks any time soon you won't be able to use them. You might want to see if you can make a trade for the items, like a gold set for the gold PDF, the Jungle Room for the Jungle Room PDF. You won't be able to do that in the VMK game, you will have to do it outside VMK, like on a message board like this one. Or if you can find some one who lives in the area and can trade them in for you, and send you the cards. I think the PDFs being rewarded right now expire in September 2006. Now what you get is a VMK card. I will try to post a pic later. There are two different sets of them. On the front of the card is a pic of the item. On the back is the code you enter to get the item in your VMK account. So if you have a PDF, you take it to either WDW to DLR and they will give you a trading card with the code for the Jungle Cruise room or the Gold set depending on the PDF.

To buy things in the store, you can one click the shop button while you are in the store, or out. Or two click on the cash registers in each store.

The Emporium - just move your mouses over the area until you get the white gloved hand.

Star Traders - This one is a little tricky. You don't really click the register, but close to it. Again just movie the mouse over the area until you get the white glove hand.

Golden Horse Shoe - Just move your mouse until you see the hand.

Small World Imports

Shrunken Ned's - this one has two. You can click on the pink shirt or the register. I always click the register.

But make sure you go at least once a week to each store to up date the store inventory you will see in the shop box that pops up. And if you don't already know. Each store has specials, 7 days a week. But to see them you have to be in the store, then you will see the special button in the shop box.

I went on this with my son to play some of the games as well. They have a fireworks, pirates of the carribean and Haunted Mansion Game that were fun to play together . We especially liked the Haunted Mansion Game that gives allot of Credits. There are other games and hidden Mickeys with in the game as well.
