I have been borrowing the JVC GR-HD1U from my work. Same size as the Sony PD150. Although I would much rather have the Sony. It is one of our old cameras we are trying to get rid of. They make great dust collectors.
hmm i will post a picture of mine:

I'm thinking of getting a Sony HC96 tomorrow. There are a few recent cons I found that have been bugging me but I think it's pretty good. It's a mini-dv, and even though I didn't think I could ever stand having one of those straight to dvd ones, it seems that's where sony's moving towards until they get their HD models out. So the thing that's nagging on me is how the DVD ones are getting all the improvements instead of the tape ones. Oh well. I'll have to come to a decision heh.

I use a Sony TRV30 Mini-DV (PAL, cos I'm in England).
I guess in a few years time when I get myself a nice HD TV (I'm waiting for 1920x1080p 46"+ LCD panels to be generally available over here) I'm going to need to upgrade, but for SD single-CCD, it's about as good as I've seen.

I use a Sony Digital 8 TRV-840. Rugged and shoots great footage for a single-chip camera.
Everyone was saying Canon but I had one of those A1 Digitals for shooting Hi-8 and had a problem with it. I found Canon to be very ineffectual. that's why I went Sony this time.

I've got a Sony Digital 8 as well, but I think it's a little older. I've been wanting to get a 3CCD digtial, but I'm concerned about their inability to shoot anything in anything even thinking about being close to 'dim' lighting.
Tony, is that really your camera?
Hey Tony, did you ever get your HD (Sony FX1)? I was wondering how you liked it. I was thinking of going HD soon but low light capabilities has me worried.

I'm still mad at myself. I wanted a digital camcorder badly but I shoulda waited another couple months and gotten an HD one :/ Particularly this one.

Mine is similar to that but only mine has x64 zoom and a few other things but other than that, it's basicly the same model as this camera.
after reading everything i am going to get the FX1. the FX7 does not have native 16:9 chips and the chips are smaller then the FX1. the fx7 has better resolution in well lit places and is better for dark rides and uses the new CMOS but in camparison the FX1 is a better buy. then i will have two cameras. my XL1 and HDR-FX1 from canon and sony. ;)

I have a Sony HDR-HC3. I am planning on getting some great video of :disneyland: when we go in November.
I have a Rode external mic that I will take with me and see if I really need it. I would really like to get the audio straight from the rides and add background music.....but we will see what it sounds like.
cool as long as you got the work flow for HD on your system your set but beware of long rendering on higher resolution

I use a Sony DCR-TRV130, and I use this mount to videotape rides at Disneyland The black strips are velcro, so I put the other side of the velcro (the cloth side) on to a flat surface. That screw is the same size and threading as a tripod so it goes in where you normally put a tripod and clamps the acrylic (aka Plexiglass™) onto it.http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2261/1833286675_ad7f931e37_b.jpgI'm still mad at myself. I would have felt the same way, except I only paid only $75 for mine

I use a Cannon GL2
http://dvinfo.net/canongl2/reports/gl2-back.jpg
I used to have the GL1, but the Mini DV recording part stopped working :( the quality went way down, instead of bothering with tech support we sold it. Now i use the Cannon GL2 i can barrow it from school whenever i want to, they have three so as long as they always have one i can barrow it.

?What is the resolution on DV camcorders? For that matter, what's the resolution on Digital 8? I don't know the res of my own camcorder, it isn't stated in the manual

I believe, Mini DV has the capacity for 3,500 lines of resolution, CAPACITY your camera may be lower. Digital 8 has the same resolution.

those are great little cameras. not bad res for smaller 3ccd's. i was looking into getting one of those because it's the same picture as the xl2 just does not have the lens changing on it.

my DCR-HC96 does 530 lines. ;) it's mini dv

Thats not too bad, a bit better the VHS quality, thats whats nice about Mini DV is that it can be used in tons of cameras. There are a few HD camera's that use Mini DV and it comes off the tape HD quality.

Realy good. But the memory card it used can only go up to a 2GB. For good quality, recording a video(with any pics in the memory card) with a 2GB will record for over 16 minutes. For an okay quality with a 2GB, it doubles.

Yeah I know it's huge. I think I am going to be choosy on which rides I will leave it on for. I will leave it on for CA Screamin but I will turn it backwards to get the onride audio, I hope it works but I know I can dub in the audio from the soundtrack.

Thats what I've read and been told.......have only done some minor testing with it and it seems to get rid of the wind noise and most of the tape whine. Don't know how it will react when on a ride but I was thinking about doing a recreation of the old Ranier beer commercial with the camera out my car window filming Mt. Ranier....we will see.

A. Whatever pays.
B. Whatever is interesting.
Have to do weddings and such also. We're working on a Doc with the AVP (Pro Beach Volleyball) right now. We currently have a short clip in the finals for a March of Dimes contest. www.marchofdimes.com/videocontest. (http://www.marchofdimes.com/videocontest) I posted about it somewhere in here. I think it got buried.
