There was talk of theming the entry plaza to the spanish missions for a while... but its only been talk, that hasnt been backed up by anyone.

Why would that be so bad? The Spanish missions serve as the first meeting between the indiginous people, and the europeans. There are like 20 of them all over California, and they're quite beautiful.

It has recently confirmed by BOB IGER that there will be rethemeing going on to the entrance of DCA. If anything it's going to be more of a 50's chrome style. You guys should expect ALOT of changes to DCA coming soon.

^ But remember, the Monorail will have to go down completely before the entrance work will be even started. That pushes it back about 6 months from now.

Historical Note: There are 21 MAJOR missions in California, and a few Spanish presideos and astencia (submissions) around the state.

Well enough with my nerdy trivia.

I wouldn't mind the Spanish entry if it came true. I find the architecture beautiful and inspiring. Especially when my favorite saint-to-be founded many of them, Blessed Fr. Serra.

I've ALWAYS thought DCA should have an entire new LAND devoted to the Missions of California...sort of a "Zorro" theme going there! BRING BACK ZORRO! PUT ZORRO OUT ON DVD!!!!

er....sorry, love the Zorro shows.

Anyway, if they put a land in there devoted to Missions of California, then the park could potentially generate THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of dollars of revenue for California Fourth Grade classes (like mine!) field trips (assuming of course they also created an educational program to go along with it!

I know that I would pack my kids up on a bus and travel the 8 hours it would take us to get there for a field trip on CA missions! :)

I hope it does. No offense to any of you but it could prove interesting. Maybe there will be a Zorro show. An action-filled show.
Sincerely, a brother of a half-demon,

There have been rumors that the entrance would be changed to more like a craftsman type thing. Or a 20s and 30s type thing. But of course it's just rumor.

They should at least leave the CALIFORNIA letters. If they take those out they'd be getting rid of one of the parks icons. Everyone I know that has gone to California Adventure has gotten their picture taken with at least one of the letters. So as long as they leave those I'm good.

well they are going to re do it, i really wouldn't mind the spanish mission theme because thoose missions were like the first thing that was ever in calif. before it became a state. But on the other hand it kind of has to do with religous stuff and disney needs to stay away from that topic, or things could go bad.

How is an important part of California history not right for a California-themed park? :icon_conf

I don't know, I'm not too keen on a Missions-themed front entrance either. I think it'll be much better than the confused look of what's there now but missions? They could do worse, but I just don't see the potential or need for that theme. If you want to retroize the park back to CA of the 1920s, do some more research and come up with something great.

Don't the rumors point to a craftsman style entrance? Or are the two styles more similar than I'm thinking?

I've heard two things, A craftsmen entrance and what California looked like when Walt first arrived (20's) but I want to think it's the same thing.
