I read this on the Internet: "Pixar is working on Ratatouille, their first non-Disney project, about a rat (big surprise) who lives in Paris. That's their 2006 release." Does anyone know anything about this movie?

are you sure 2006? They're releasing Cars this year.

I heard somewhere else that it was 2007. If it was 2006, then it seems like it would have been advertised by this point.

It's likely that any & all Pixar exclusive projects are shelved pending results of the merger.

It's likely that any & all Pixar exclusive projects are shelved pending results of the merger.Nope. According to this AP story, Disney and Pixar struck a limited liability deal so they could continue production durring the merger interim. This is a deal Disney would never have made if they weren't merging anyway.

Disney, Pixar Extend Distribution Deal for Film 'Ratatouille'
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

(Feb. 2) -- The Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios Inc. have agreed to extend their current distribution agreement to include Pixar's 2007 release, "Ratatouille," a deal that will be moot if Disney's proposed acquisition of Pixar closes this summer as expected.

The two companies negotiated what amounts to a one-picture extension as a fail-safe measure in case the acquisition doesn't happen.

"This is a deal that Disney and Pixar negotiated independent of the proposed merger to handle the distribution of 'Ratatouille' until such time as the transaction closes," Pixar said Thursday in a statement.

Pixar would finance all the production costs of "Ratatouille" and pay Disney a straight distribution fee under the new deal, according to a regulatory filing. Pixar would also own the film.

The extension differs from the current arrangement, where Disney and Pixar split the production costs and the profits, and share ownership of the copyright.

The animated movie is about a rat named Ratatouille who lives in an upscale Parisian restaurant run by an eccentric chef, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Well, I said it was likely, that was purely conjecture on my part. Glad to hear there's another one coming that isn't being held up by the merger. Sometimes mergers can be a painful process that gets bogged down in logistics and egos, but it doesn't look like that's happening here.

Well, I said it was likely, that was purely conjecture on my part. I though it was likely to be put on hold too. As a matter of fact I posted a message agreeing with you. Then I deleted it when I found this story. I didn't think a deal like this was possible, but it makes perfect sense. I mean, when you buy a movie house like Pixar a 7 billion dollar dinner, you expect it to put out.

I can't wait for "Ratatouille" to come out! I'm sure it will be great.

Pixar has never let me down, but Cars worries me. Ratatouille doesn't have Larry the Cable Guy in it yet, so as Anakin would say, Yippee!

I'll be looking at every single detail of that movie to find a "Pizza Planet" truck in that movie(Pixar always puts one in every movie) when it comes out.

Is there a Pizza Planet truck in "Bug's Life" or "Incredibles"? I know there's one on the "Incredibles" video game.

A Bug's Life: As the two bugs are talking about seeing the light, the truck can be seen on-screen.In the incredibles, it can be seen on the freeway towards the end of the film.

I like how Pixar has it's own ways of including mementos from movie greats [Toy Story] into other movies just like Disney has the Eeyore sign in IJ and the tribute to CBJ in Winnie the Pooh. It's just cool ;)

I was watching Monsters, Inc. a while ago, and when Sulley is picking up Boo's toys, Jessie (from Toy Story 2) and Nemo (from Finding Nemo, which came out AFTER Monsters, Inc.!) were there. Everyone else probably already noticed those before, but I felt cool.

Ratatouille Rat has a long distant cousin....Mickey Mouse or
Ratatouille Rat meets Mickey Mouse at Madison Square Garden.

What is this Rat supposed to look like?

Upon seeing the Rataouille teaser trailer in theaters, and briefly reading the story behind this film, well... A rat wanting to be a chef really wasn't all that appealing to me..
I was never really quite sure what to expect from this film... Would it be a hit or not? Having the vague idea of how the movies story would be, I was kinda turned down by it... Then yet, I still had hopes, because this is director Brad Bird we're talking about..

Well, all I can say, seeing an actual trailer just today, gave me the perfect idea of what Ratatouille really is. It gave me a great view of what the plot will be... And all I can say is, it's A LOT LOT better than I thought it would be!

The trailer was hilarious, and of course the finished product will be too, because this is Pixar (Duh). Well, all I can say is, I am 100 times more excited for this film now, and I absolutely can't wait for it to hit theaters!
Who knows, this might end up being my new favorite Pixar film, judging how cool the trailer is.

I wasn't all that impressed with the first trailer where he just runs from the people throwing knives and such at him.

The most recent trailer showing him being the chef puppetier looked MUCH better.

I thought it was very good. Not as good as Meet the Robinsons or Over the Hedge. but good

head mouse, I just checked the history of your post. It hasn't been edited by anyone. Maybe that image is no longer at that url? It says it's at http://movies.apple.com/trailers/disney/ratatouille/images/apple_trailer_0120060616.jpg but it doesn't display. When I go to that address I get the 404 page that says:Looking for something at Apple.com?
The page you tried was not found. You may have used an outdated link or may have typed the address (URL) incorrectly. You were linking directly to another website's image (hot-linking) which isn't allowed anyway. In the future you may want to copy the image to your gallery, or attach it to the post, or store it at a file-sharing site like photobucket. Whatever the image was, it's gone now.
