![]() Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: White Mountains, Arizona | ok... just a few more helpful pointers from my vf friends and we are good to go. we have been saving up for a long time and everything must be perfect. ok, first things first, I need to know how crowds will be in march. I need to know about estimates for the week of the 15th and the final week in march. I also need to know about spring break. you california vf guys, when do you guys do your spring break? I wish to avoid spring break crowds. Now for you out of town vf guys like me... good hotels. I mean.. .suggestions of good hotels... low prices.. close to the park... walking distance perferably... the hotels with shuttles, how late do they go? like, if we wanted to stay until closing at 12:00... would the shuttle be available to take us back? and finally... any good pointers on how to get from John Wayne Airport to the disneyland/hotel area? is there a better airport than john wayne in this case? Any information that you could provide would be super valuable. This is the first time that I have planned one of these on my own. Thanks a ton!!! |

| Mover of People ![]() | Public school spring break where I live is usually in April, far later than the rest of the world. I'm not sure if LAUSD or Anaheim school districts follow suit, but if they do then you won't have to worry about spring break. John Wayne Airport is the best airport to land in IMO. You can take the 55 to I-5 north & ride it about 15mins to the park. However, you're coming from the south, so you'll need to navigate surface streets a tiny bit to find the entrances to M&F or Timon lots. -- PMM ![]()

![]() | Just got back from my trip to DLR. From John Wayne Airport I took the Grayline Disneyland Express. http://www.airportbus.com/ $14 one way, $24 round trip. Takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. I stayed at the Tropicana Inn. Decent room, about $80/night, directly across from the Main Gate and just north of the one and only pedestrian crosswalk over Harbor Blvd. Booked it through Expedia.com. |

![]() Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: No. Cal. | Any hotel in the 1500 block of S. Harbor is good for walking. I have stayed at the CAROUSEL INN AND SUITES and the Ramada Inn Main Gate Saga and while they are not the Grand Californian - they both served my purposes just fine. Both of these hotels are in the 1500 block. There are several other hotels there too. I live in No. Cal. and our spring break times seem to be different than some of the schools in So. Cal. so it might be hard to say when spring breaks are happening for the whole state. I have gone at the end of March 2X and found the crowds to bearable and while you do have to wait for some of the "bigger" attractions the lines seemed to be nothing over a half an hour (without using fast pass). Hope this helps you out a little bit. |

I have stayed at 2 hotels and both were reasonable and nice. Anaheim Inn and Suites and the Radisson. Both are walking distance. I suggest checking the travel web sites (Expedia, Travelocity, etc) - they have great deals - and hotel prices for those specific weeks will give a clue about expected crowds. (If one weeks price is higher then the other, then expect larger crowds that week.) RU

![]() Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: White Mountains, Arizona | ok... we have set a date. March 15th through March 18th. 4 days. Any input or warnings on that one? all the hotels mentioned a large religious convention and a cheerleading competition. also... we are looking at a hotel... the parkside... on katela. they said that its a short walk to the south entrance and that the tram would take us from the parking lot to the main gate. I havent ever been on that side of things. they said its on katela and disneyland drive. some questions on this one... is it safe to walk at night? like when the park closes at 12 and we have to walk back to the hotel. the last time I did such a thing... it turned out bad. has DL area security improved since then? and... judging by the location of the hotel... Where is the south entrance and how would I get there? isnt the parking lot fenced off or something? I cant remember. the rates at this place are by far the lowest I have seen and its right next to the park. can you believe that its only 33 dollars a night? has anybody ever stayed at the parkside? |

![]() | In June I stayed at the Anabella on Katella. I was in a group of 4 girls. We walked to the park both days. Both days we stayed until almost one a.m. We walked out to Katella from the street where the PPH and the GCH are located on(sorry don't remember the street name) and I felt very safe. I never had a bad feeling at all. Sorry, the rest of the questions I cannot answer, but $33 a night is a killer deal! ![]()
