Haunted Mansion recreation

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd share with you what I'm doing in RCT3. I'm attempting to re create the HM (see topic title). I only have one pic of it so far but I will be sure to post more pictures when it gets closer to completion. I have the facade, foyer, streching rooms, and portrait hallway completed as of now. Here you go.

The front center two columns are a little to close together. Is there a way to move them apart?

I tried to evenly space the colums. But it ended up looking too streched out. I wish there was a way I could fix that cause it bothers the perfectionist inside of me.

^^ looks good. Is the ride going to be under ground or above? having it below ground is easier because you don't need walls, then again there are tunnel lights and you may be able to make them black as in the color black not purple neon black lights. If its above ground the inside is still light, unless its night but that means slower fps. so good luck looks good so far, if you look on atari forums somebody already made one do u have the music?

Technically the ride will be above ground. I'm just going to build it in a giant hole behind the facade. I saw the one on Atari, but that was the WDW mansion which is a bit different. Yeah I have music to put in. Hopefully I'll get to work on it tomorrow and get some new pics.

well right now the scenery is all messed up on my computer, something made it so all the scenery i have is generic, i use alot of custom scenery and thats probably why. So i have to reload it and crap, so it may be a while. I'll start a thread.

Very nice! I myself was fooling around with the lighting effects and I recreated (more or less) the Gallery of Morphing Portraits, mostly by making a corridor and adding the windows that look out onto the stormy night. I can't tell in the screenshot, but have you tried something like that?

^^ thx i found out another way. I new it was an f key but i didn't know which so i tried a button then looked to see if it was in the bilboards rct3 file. By the way how do you take just game clips?

I found sometime today to get a little bit more of the mansion done. It's looking pretty good so far. Here take a look.

wow looks good. I know alot of ppl use the mummy thing for the dude in a coffin but this may not be animated? but it is still cool. Orginal ideas are the best, look at Space mountain for instance. And then look at a movie based ride? which is better?

I'm impressed! Do you plan on making a ride-thru video when you're done? Because I'd love to see the completed attraction! This is shaping up to be one of the most impressive recreations of a Dinseyland ride I've seen!

the no svd for sid really sucks. It only happend after wild. So you probably have wild. Somebody on this website www.putmeonthenet.net did the haunted mansion they also made it downloadable. So i used that scenery is that what ur using jermey?

I had that same problem too when I first downloaded the HM custom scenery too. What you need to do is go to
C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon? 3\Style\Themed
Once there open the folder with the HM custom scenery in it. There should be 4 other folders inside. Copy those folders and paste them out with all the other scenery folders in the /Themed folder. Then it should work.

I just downloaded this scenery a few days ago and I was playing around with it and built a whole bunch of cool stuff when my computer just decided that then would be a really good time for a random shut down and restart. >:(

Oh well. That's life I guess. I'll try to get some new pics up sometime this week. I've been really busy. It's only Monday and I'm already ready for the weekend.

I don't. The way I have it is the room is already in the stretched position. What happens is the peeps get onto evelators that take them down toward the bottom of the room. I wish that I could make the room stretch in the game but that would be impossible.

No not yet. I've been really busy with school. My teachers are really working us this quarter. So I haven't had much time to play on RCT3.

Alrighty I think it's about time for another update.

I found that everything I had planned today got canceled so I built some more of everyone's favorite mansion.

Since I downloaded the HM custom scenery I have found a lot of good uses for it. I used it to redo the Foyer. I think it looks much better than before.

After that I continued consructing the rest of the ride. Which lead to the re-creation of the Corridor of Doors. They all seem to have trouble getting through.

Thanks. Actually in the HM custom scenery, that can be found in one of my previous posts on this thread, there is a Madame Leota prop. In the picture in my last update you can only see the backside of Leota bu on the front you can see her face.

Speaking of custom scenery, what sets did you use in the making of the mansion? I recegnize Klinn's Frameworks, Pumper's Darkride set, the Main Street set, and the DRP Lightz. Oh...And the HM scenery.

The windows in the conservatory are actually from one of the scenery packs that came with the game. If you have the Soaked expansion pack you have those walls. They are in the office building scenery parts.

This is what you see when your doombuggy first enters the attic. I'm not sure how acurate it is compared to the ride. I didn't have any pictures to go off of and the scenery in RCT3 is very limiting in what you can do.

Sweet another update. It look pretty good. Have you used jcats scream worx? i suggest it becuase it has candles and black lights. Also skull hands sticking out of walls. You can use that at the end where the hand is plastering himself in the box. Go to my website and i have the link for the download. Thanks Ryguy. I already have Screamworx. It's a really good pack. I used many of the items from Screamworx in the attic already (rugs, cabinets, chairs, tables, ect). I like the idea of using the skeleton arm in the graveyard.

well ya ive tried that a couple of times with screamworks, but never got a very good ride outta it... I'm tryin out a ride that is sorta the same thing as IJA but it has a completely different theme and it mainly uses screamworks.

I don't have any updates at the moment. RCT3 has been giving me trouble and randomly shutting itself down. So the progress that I had made on it was lost because I didn't get the chance to save it. I might be able to get on RCT3 tomorrow and work on it some more. I guess I'll just have to save the game more frequently.

This project is dead LOL well the mansion is full of ghosts lol so its not living. Im not saying that its dead as in the ride sucks or that the project is over. Yeah sorry for the lack of updates guys. I haven't been able to get on to do anything to the mansion recently. If you didn't know, I graduated from high school and I'm trying to find a job right now so I can save up for college. I've also been doing little jobs for people. I just finished a DVD movie that I edited for a friend of mine who has a karaoke business. This DVD project has taken a few weeks to finish and it's where my time and energy has been these past few weeks. I'm supposed to be doing a mural here sometime soon for another friend.

I wish I had time to just sit around and play on RCT3 all day, but I don't. Once I find a job it's likely that I'll be able to sit down everynow and then and play on RCT3. But right now I just can't.

I WILL get around to finishing The Haunted Mansion. So don't worry about it never ever getting finished. I will finish it. I promise.

Hey guys! I know it's been forever since my last update. I'm sorry. But things have just been so crazily busy since I got my job. And it's looking like I'm going to be starting college in April. But anyways that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.

I sat down today, cause I had the day off, and did some more stuff to the mansion. The graveyard is pretty much complete. I put black walls and roof tiles over the entire graveyard to make it look like night time. I think it turned out rather well.

From here on I just have little things to finish and tweak before I put it up for download. So hopefully I'll have it up and done by Christmas.

I'll have pictures of the completed graveyard up in the next few days.

The Mansion's facade is also changing. I downloaded some new custom scenery that helped it look more like the real thing.

You can Run RCT3 for macs, the only place i've seen it at is the apple store. There usually in malls, and if you can't find one you can always get it off of apples website. You can use custom scenery on the mac, although its a lot tougher to get things on, but once you figure it out it should be simple enough. I don't run a mac if your wondering but i know there is an RCT3 mac version. I think there should be a tutorial on www.ataricommunity.com just look under stragey games, then RCT3, then RCT3 mac there is a whole forum just for that.

Just outta curiousity, do you run rct3 on windows or mac? cuz i use my mac and love it! Once again, good job!

I am currently running Windows 2000. I was running XP for about a month at one point but then my new hard drive that we installed XP on crashed. Luckily my RCT3 HM wasn't on that drive, or else it would have been lost. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Okay I know I promised I would have the park up for download by now. I'm sorry. It's taking longer to finish than I anticipated. The interior stuff for the most part is complete and intact. But the exterior facade needs to be finished, the show building hasn't even been started, and many many more trees need to be planted to give it the overgrown look.

I'll try my best to get it out soon, but chances are it might be a while before that happens. Sorry guys.

So are you going to record it? Also i will say that bulding the exterior of a show bulding is harder then it is on the inside, sm took forever all those black walls, but an faster way (well it still takes a while) is to make a custom structure. Just put six wall pieces together that make a wall the right height and all that save it in custom structures, and just use that piece to make the thing, its way easier then having to put in every individual wall piece.

Hey guys. Sorry it's been so long. Things have been pretty crazy around here these past 2 months and I haven't really had time to sit down and play RCT3. But I got the day off from work today and I think I finished the mansion. Here are some pics of everything basically looking good.

Hey guys. Last Saturday I sat down and recorded a few really good ride throughs of the manison. But since then I have been busy as heck!!! I'm really sorry you guys have to keep waiting. I will try to get the video edited as soon as possible. But it might be a week or more before I'll have enough time to actually sit down and edit it properly.

And yes, I have been working on a Pirates park. It's supposed to be a mixture of both the ride and the movies. But a good portion of it is the movies. Once I'm done with the mansion stuff I'll let you guys know more about it.

^The problem with fraps is if you have lag, then the fraps picks it up. If you use the in-game stuff then you can't see the lag, and im assuiming there was lots of lag here. Also when i said FCR that means Flying Camera route, when the car was tilted the other way did you have it in the on-ride mode or the FCR

^Exactly. I intended to use fraps at the very beginning, but ended up not using it because the lag was horrible.

To answer your question when the camera was turned to the sides it was in on-ride mode. I only used FCR during the parts where there was no ride or track.

I was wondering how long it would be before I got that question. lol The reason I left out the stretching room was because you really couldn't see much from inside the elevator. And I didn't feel like deleting the elevator just to get a FCR shot of it.
