I have heard that certain attractions, like the peoplemover, and rocket jets might be possibly returning in 2008. If anyone has any information, PLEASE post any facts or other rumors here!!! I'm hungry for information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since there are no official announcements, anything in regards to this post will be rumor...so off we go to the rumor section.

haven't heard a thing. Most likely something will probably return to the Rocket Rods track, since the track is still there. I think the People movers will come back as Tomrowland Transprortation Authority (TTA) which is at WDW. The rocket jets? who knows, they might come back. I hope they do because those are higher up which gives you a birds eye view of the park, since its atop the Rocket rods/ people mover station. I really hope the astro Jets are demolished, or blown up, because Astro jets = Crowd Madness after fantasmic/fireworks

If so, plans need to be announced extremely soon for construction to have enough time.

i heard that the rocket jets (the ones there right now) will be moved to the original jets place to open up Tomorrowland's entrance. other than that, they should do something with the PM track since it's there and standing. I mean, I'd even settle for a Star Tours Clock Parade, but I just hope they put SOMETHING!

I hope that's true. Moving it to the entrance of Tomorrowland was one of the stupidest things the park's ever done. To add insult to injury, they replaced it with a... thing... that spins... and plays music. Oooohhhh!

And breaks! :) Every time they fix it, it breaks within weeks. It's a 39-year-old structure that wasn't meant to spin every 15 minutes. It was meant to spin almost constantly every day!

That would be so cool if some of the rides that I never got to see were to come back and re-live the magic of being at Disneyland!

I love how it starts with a fanfare to get people's attention and then starts spinning, playing really histrionic music, as if people care. I think I'm the only person that notices it most of the time.
One time I started clapping at it and cheering and people turned and looked at me, then looked up and then looked back at me with really confused expressions. I loved that.... ;) ;)

Heh, I felt like I was the only one that payed attention to it anymore, when I see it go off, I always tell my friends, "Oh there it goes again." and look at my cell phone for the time, and of course its on time.

I asked a CM last week if they willl bring the People Mover back. She said "they're planning to bring back something there". Although she didn't say it would be called the People Mover, it will at least be another attraction for us to ride. Something is better than nothing!

Just from my experience, Cast Member information has not been the most reliable, if at all. I always take what they say with a grain of salt. Not that everything they say is false, but I'd rather hear it from Imagineering or TDA...
Someone should start a peoplemover society and lobby Disneyland to build another one, sorta like the way they lobbied to have the Lilly Belle put back on track...

PeopleMover = legend = needs to be brought back. I don't care what you name it, it would be a dream come true for me. Preferrably as it originally was, but hey, money talks, so it would probably have new theme to it.

Something on The Old Peoplemover track, But Its not going to be like Rocket Rods like the Peoplemover in WDW
I'm for the PeopleMover because it was the prototype for a real life transit system of the future. And we still don't have them! It would be so awesome if we had one in my town to go from place to place in. Did you know the airport in Huston has a PeopleMover?
Our new streetcar here in Portland is pretty nifty though.

I think PM would come back because Besides subs PM is the other ride that people really wanted back.
Over on Mouse Info we have had allot of Threads about PM.
But something else I want back from the past is the Hatbox Ghost in HM.

I'm pretty sure that the peoplemover will return someday, because there are so many fanbases and rumors that the old ride will return. They say it may appear along with the mark 7 monorail, findiing nemo: submarine voyage, and the newly moved astro orbiter.

If the PeopleMover were to return, it wouldn't be in 2007 with the subs. Truth is, a lot of work needs to be done which would require extensive closures of various parts of Tomorrowland, which already got a total refurb. Maybe for the 60th, they can restore the PM (Rocket Rods wouldn't work because the track wasn't built for it and it constantly broke down) and put Rocket Jets back in its proper place. It'd be worth the construction around TL. As for Skyway, it's nice but I think it's against the law to have open-air compartments like that.. Plus in the past 12 years I've developed great acrophobia :p
psycho812
08-08-2006, 11:09 AM
I don't really think that it's against the law. The Sn Dego Zoo still has a ride exactly like the skyway. I think they closed it, because a few years before it closed, a man threw himself from his skyway cabin and landed in a tree, also some people (especially kids) started spitting on people below, dropped things on them, etc.

What makes a peoplemover a peoplemover? Soemone said its at an airport. San Francisco Intl has a tram thing but im not sure its considered a people mover.
I hope they make it like a TTA at WDW. You go past little dioramas of future communities and other things.

Deb said they're not re-installing the People Mover cos if there was ever an emergency its a bit hard to get out of.
Say like if an escaped Rhino was running along the track towards you, you can't just hop out without falling a storey and splatting onto the
pavement and worrying some kids.
It's the same sorta thing with the Matterhorn Skyway thingos.
If a Rhino was swinging along the Skyway track, what would you be able to do?
I certainly wouldn't have jumped out!

Disney would not bring back the Skyway because of the Santa Ana Winds that blow every year. It is just too dangerous.

No they wont be anything like the original sub ride
One of my customers is doing the Rock work on the Nemo ride and he said It`s a Whole different kinda ride I dont even think the subs will be getting wet by the port holes. He said they are using some kind of Digital movies when you look thru the porthole.
I cant wait to check it out... I used to get Claustaphobic in those old subs.

It's too dangerous for Disney but not too dangerous for numerous ski resorts in CA and around the the world? These gondolas systems are built very strong. Yes your car hangs from a strong cable, but then again on an airplane you're screaming through the atmosphere in a pressurized metal tube. We take a certain amount of risk with every action we take.
Those Santa Ana winds wouldn't disturb the gondola system I was thinking of. Might sway it a tiny bit, but that's actually a good thing.

The Santa Ana winds don't really do much out that way anyway. Not like near Valencia and Simi Valley. They took them out more so for safety reasons being an open car easy for suicides, spitting, dropping trash and so on. And like Matt said, we take huge risks everyday far worse than a 2 minute gondola ride across a park. Just getting in your car and going down the street is more dangerous. Consider it an insurance reason why they took them out.
PeoplemoverMatt

Hence my suggestion for enclosed gondola-style Sun Wheel-esque cars for its replacement.

If they used "sunwheel style" gondolas in the first place, the ride never would have shut down.
