This sounds right, but aren't the "yetis" the Abmoniable Snowman? And I heard from the Disney podcast that SB's Castle was made small so it was not too intimidating!

The Yeti is the true name for the abomidable(SP?) snowman, just like Sasquatch is the truwe name for bigfoot.
Back on topic, did you know that Splash Mountain was originally gonna be named "Zip Ah Dee Doo Dah River Run"?

Yeti is another name for the Abominable Snowman, but you are right that the Disneyland Yetis are referred to as Abominable Snowmen. The one(s) in the new Expedition Everest will be called Yetis because that is what they are called wherever Mt. Everest is (Asia?)
About Sleeping Beauty's Castle, that's what I meant. The old English castles were large and imposing, and Walt thought this type of castle would be too mysterious and intimidating for his guests (there are no castles, after all, in the USA). So he decided to have a smaller one built that looked friendlier.
Belle's Chateu in Disneyland Paris was made to be both tall and very beautiful visiually. This is because Europeans are far more used to seeing castles, big and small, than we Americans. Belle's Chateau is thought to be regarded as the most beautiful of all the castles, and I think it really is.

That's weird, but also pretty logical ya know? At least that title would have derived from the film, since they sing Zip-ah-dee-doo-dah in the movie. But Splash Mountain is actually nowhere in the film (I own it). In fact Chickapin Hill is not even near water at all.
Anyways, having that name makes sense because the area where the Steamboat is is called "Zip-ah-dee-doo-dah Landing", a perfect place for a River Run to end right?

Yesterday i was looking on Wikipedia about the different Disney castles, and actually it calls the castle in DLP Cinderella's Chateau. I thought that was odd cuz I've heard it called Belle's Chateau (and wouldn't that make more sense since Belle is from France?). So I dunno for sure, but i do think it's Belle's Chateau, and that's what I'll call it lol.
But hey look to see if you can find something about it!

ok - we're moving this into the "rumor mill" area because most of what we consider facts about Disneyland are actually just rumors that we've 'heard'.
so off we go.

It's a small world was originally was made in the new york world fair 1964-65 with all the dolls singing their own country's national anthems, and it was a mess.Because of the small world's boats, and Carousel of progress's(which came to Disneyland in 1969 to be replaced with america sings)AA's they could make pirates of the Caribbean, (which was going to be a wax Museum).Well, Walt went to Richard M Sherman, and his brother Robert B Sherman(i saw Richard on the disney cruise)to make a small world song.they wrote it's a small world,a rather low beat tune, but the disney chorus made it more jumpy, like the song you know today. The attraction came to disneyland in 1966,the year before walt died.Disneyworld's got a smaller look for the outside of it's a small world.I believe that Disneyland got the small world holiday in 1997,but I'm not so sure.Does anybody Know if Disneyworld has the small world holiday?

Did ya know that when the lights(the old school light bulbs that flicker) in the Queue for Indy flicker in time with the Audio of the generator, when they stop flickering it means the the ride has broken down or stopped for some reason. I heard this a while back and actually pointed it out to someone and they didn't believe me untill a CM walked through and told us the ride was down.

Did you know? On Star Tours the name GEORGE LUCAS is mentioned in the first waiting room. They make an anoucement for a passenger by the name of "EGROEG SACUL" witch spells George Lucas backwards. Also they mention his first film, and that is mentioned when they make the anoucement for a mis parked car. They call out the license plate for the car but it is also the title for George Lucas's first film. : ) -share your Disney Secrets.

^ not sure if this is true, but also at the end of Star Tours when you almost crash into that truck of fuel at the end, that guy in the office is George Lucas

1 At one point in Star Tours the ride you fly past a giant microscope, the microscope came form Adventures through inner space, the ride that used to be where Star Tours is at.
2. In Indy's office there is a map either on the wall or on his desk (I have seen it in both places) the map is of the ride.
And also in the same area there is a box. Or there was I think they put part of it above Indy's door. Anyway on the box there was/is a number 9906 753, that is the number of that the Ark of the Coventant was put into at the end of Raiders.
I have more...

Linklewt,
Even though YOUR postings may be fact, when you ask others to participate and their postings are not "Facts", the thread goes to the Rumor Mill. It's the nature of the thread and nothing you've done wrong. We can't make exceptions because it's trivia.

^^sorry bout that post, it was kinda out of line. i deleted it to clear things up.
^ not sure if this is true, but also at the end of Star Tours when you almost crash into that truck of fuel at the end, that guy in the office is George Lucas
no, that's like a well-known Disney Legend. i believed that too and told my friends that it was George, but it's actuall not him. Look up Star Tours on Wikipedia and it will tell you who it is, but ya definitely not George.
But hey, tell your friends it's George anyways! It's so much more juicier that way!
Did you know? On Star Tours they call out the license plate for the car but it is also the title for George Lucas's first film. Lucas' first film is THX 1138. Is that the license plate number they call out? I'll have to listen next time.
Also he named his improvement on the old SurroundSound system THX after his first theatrical release.
More Disney Trivia: The SurroundSound that some movies were formatted for in the 1970s acually played on Disney's 10-channel FantaSound systems that were installed for Fantasia in the 1940s!
What goes around comes around.
In it's a small world, only one song plays throughout the entire attaction, the title song by Richard & Robert Sherman. There is only one exception to this (not counting small world holliday). In only one country, a second song is mixed with the infamous Sherman Bros. song. Can you name either the song or the country? I'll post the answer tomorrow morning.

Actually the guy who ducks under the table at the end of the rides name is Ira Keeler, hes good friends with goerge lucas and is a cheif model maker for ILM, whos worked on hundreds of famous movies, indiana jones 1,2,3; star wars 1,2,3,4,5,6; back to the future, MIB, MIIB, A.I.; dozens of movies.
No guesses? Okay here's the answer:
In it's a small world, only one song plays throughout the entire attaction, the title song by Richard & Robert Sherman. There is only one exception to this (not counting small world holliday). In Ireland, the traditional tune The Irish Washerwoman is mixed with small world.

Back when the Matterhorn was built there could not be anything that tall unless it was a sports arena . So Walt had them put in a half basket ball court. That is above the area over the main lift hill.

My aunt's friend's teacher was a mirmaid in the submarine lagoon (I think it was the submarine lagoon).
linklewtt

^^that's cool, but not really Disneyland trivia...
but since you're talking about the mermaids, just like the Walt Disney video in the Opera House says, mermaids were really out on the rocks in the submarine lagoon. And once or twice guys dared by their friends did try to swim out to them.
When they were removed, many thought that it was due to the guys jumping in, but actually the women playing the mermaids had to spend long hours out in the beating sun, and that did a number on their skin. Also the chlorine from the water did not help much.

Did you know that there is a hidden mickey on the Winnie the Pooh ride? It's so small, that you can barely see it. I got stuck on the ride and the ride attendant showed it to us. It's right when you go into the ride, to the right on one of the poles that has all the lines to make it look like wood. It's the 2nd or 3rd one in the ride, and in the middle of the pole, you have to look at it during the daytime though, that's the only way to see it.

1. The Rivers of America used to be stocked with fish.
2. A rose garden used to exist where New Orleans Square now sits.
3. Alweg, the company that co-designed the original Disneyland monorails, proposed a plan in the 50s to the city of Los Angeles for an experimental 43 mile monorail mass transit system. This plan was considered until General Motors and other automotive companies won out with their proposed bus systems. Alweg then went to Disney, who promptly installed them into his theme park. The reason the monorail track winds around and around Tomorrowland in sharp turns and upand down steep grades is that Disney (and Alweg) wanted to prove the capabilities of the monorail system, with sharp turning radius, climbing ability, and small displacement of space.

A lot of people say tha, but that is not true. I do not even believe Walt was alive when they put the hoop up there. I have a picture of the "court" if you want to see it. One of the climbers brought it up. They used it to pass the time. I tried to put the pic in the Gallery! It is too large! PM me about it!
