I have been a faithful listener for over/almost a year now. By far it has been the most helpful way to cope with Disneyland withdrawals. This new interface is amazing. I got quite sick of the ads about eHarmony.com on Live365. Thanx Chris and long live VF radio!

Gretings Chris,
I've been listening to the VF radio "test" for +/- 30 minutes now. Clear sound, no commercials, no odd breaks, pops or clicks, & it goes on without delay. So far, so good. Except for frustrating me, that I don't know when we willl be able to get "down South" again! Otherwise, I think you've got a winner.
cheers,
Steve

Chris, you've done it again! Not only have you created a new and improved version of Visions Fantastic Radio but also the Visions Fantastic website of audio and video files. Unfortunately the files sound like samples from a CD and probably not the origional recordings...yet.
I leave that for you to decide when to put the real recordings in later. In the meantime keep up the good work!

Hi Scott,
If you mean these are in their original form, then no, they have been edited and remixed by Rick Conant as part of his '50 Years of ImaginEARing' set celebrating Disneyland's 50th Birthday.

I'm sure someone will come along with a technical answer. When I go to the radio page, it just starts playing after it buffers. Do you see the listing of the songs? Perhaps you need to download software from somewhere? I don't know what plays this: Flash? something else?

If things are working correctly, you should see a playlist on the left-hand side of the player 'interface' and a random clip should begin playing. Do you have Cable/DSL or are you on dialup? If you're on dialup you may have to wait quite awhile before it buffers. If you're on a slow dialup, you are probably unable to use VF Radio.

I checked what you told me to in the other thread. And yes, I do see the playlist on the left-hand side, but nothing begins playing. I've got a DSL connection, so it shouldn't take long to buffer, but I've left the window open for hours without hearing anything. The words "Preloading Track" keep scrolling at the top, but after waiting a long time, nothing seems to happen. Either there's something else on my computer interfering with it, or I'm doing something wrong that's blatantly obvious and I just don't see it.

One question, do you have broadband or dialup?

Hello again. I've been enjoying the new VF Radio for awhile now and just want to say great job! In my humble opinion I enjoy audio files much more than video files when it comes to the park. Somehow your memory of the parks seems to be better enhanced if you have to use your head to see images, don't you think? Anyway keep up the great work and I'll keep appreciating it. Thanks.

Nevermind. I tried accessing it in Internet Explorer and I didn't have any trouble. It probably had something to do with AOL. Thank you SO much for all of your help!

Chris, I'm using a dialup version but I don't know if I'm using broadband. The VF Radio preloads a track, plays for a while then fades away and preloads another track and so forth. But I'm not changing the tracks myself.
I will try to download the next version of Flash Player to see if that helps me or not then get back and let you know, kay?
Chris

Scott,
If you are on a slow dialup connection the system is not buffering properly. We will be releasing a 56k version of VF Radio soon.
Scott Oliverson
11-30-2005, 09:15 AM
Chris, when I went into the VF Radio site it sounded A-Ok to me. You did create a 56K version of the program like you said you would and the files are not preloading anymore. Oh, by the way, before I go...some movies that have come and gone for winter are the following:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire "4th film based on the book" (NOV)
Lion-Witch-Wardrobe "Live action film based on Chronicles of Narnia book" (DEC)
King Kong "Remake version of the 1933 movie" (DEC)
Then, of course in 2006 next summer comes the Disney Pixar film "CARS" as well as a sequel or episode 2 of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN on July 4th "Dead Men Tell No Tales" then the next year 2007 are two live action movies based on famous cartoon shows, they are "TRANSFORMERS" and "TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES"
Just wanted to let you know this, that is if you ever watch these movies or not or wait to buy them on DVD instead???
Scott Oliverson
12-01-2005, 12:05 PM
Uh, on second thought...you were right, I am using a slow dialup version to access the Visions Fantastic Radio and once again it's preloading tracks, plays a few portions then preloads another track, blah-blah-blah.
Maybe I should consider using that Premium site you've discussed previously but I don't know how to use PayPal...any ideas???
Chris

Scott,
As I said, we will have a 56k (dialup) vesion of the Radio coming soon. Please be patient.

12-02-2005, 08:13 PM
Okay, sorry if I'm being rude or pestering about the problem, didn't want to make you mad or anything...I can be patient and wait when it's fixed.
Meanwhile...I did mention about the new films already out for December which are THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA and KING KONG and of the films coming in 2006, the Disney Pixar CARS and the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN "DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES" sequel
Keep up the good work on your Visions Fantastic site, celebrating 50 Years of Walt Elias Disney's theme park he built for children and parents to have fun together in 1955 to 2005

Chris, you have done an awesome job creating the VF Radio. Having visited DL first in 1957, there are so many memories on these clips that take me back. The DLRR clip has mention of the D coupon and I can remember the days when coupons were used. The Coca Cola clip, probably featuring Rod, the piano player is my favorite. I've known Rod many, many years and have never failed to stop by there when he's playing. The song in the clip is Maple Leaf Rag, a request I make everytime I see him. He always told me stories of Walt Disney, he knew him, and the tales of Walt being in the park in early morn are fantastic to listen to. Thanks for a great concept in radio, you have given me the opportunity to visit the past with sound, since videos of these things don't exist. Keep up the fantastic work.

Chris, it is 2006 of the future, great scott! That means Disneyland USA will be either updating or bringing in new attractions for the Magic Kingdom, Disney California Adventure, blah-blah-blah. And the same can be said for Walt Disney World, blah-blah-blah.
In the meantime, continue the work you and staff are good at doing, the creation of video & audio files for Visions Fantastic!

What is "50 Years of ImaginEARing"?
Chris
06-10-2006, 06:09 PM
The '50 Years of ImaginEARing' is a retrospective set of Disneyland attraction and show audio put together by Rick Conant. VF was choosen to exclusively feature this material. It pre-dates the 6-disc set from Disney and in some ways is similar, but it contains quite a bit more (it's a 10-disc set). This is an unofficial composition of existing materials, some of it has never been featured before.

Wonderful. I especially like the Main Street Electrical Parade. It has the original talking intro (ha ha ha) then the Opening, Alice, Cinderella, Dumbo, Briny Deep units. But I have a question. What is the next unit? It is really weird and incorporates part of Auld Lang Syne. Only brass, and an occasional drum are in the unit. Following that are Elliot's unit, two variations (maybe some different floats got removed and they only kept Elliot), It's A Small World, Disney Neon Finale, and the electro-synthe-magnetic (not talking but singing) ending. I love it!

I know that Rick did take elements of WDW and incorporate them into many of the other materials in the 50 Years collection, so it wouldn't surprise me if he took some elements from the original WDW version. Personally I have no idea what the added music is for.

Is it possible to load these tracks into iTunes so i can listen to it on my iPod? I would love to listen to these on trips.
Chris
08-20-2006, 06:29 PM
Unfortunately they are not in a downloadable format on the station. As part of our agreement with Rick Conant, we agreed to not distribute the material.
Matt, in regards to your question, the original link is gone and I've been trying to find a full listing. The prospect of sitting down and writing it out by hand is a possibility, but a very time consuming possibility. I'll see what I can do.
