Hello all,

So we're currently looking at hotels for next summers vacation and we're interested in the Holiday Inn Express in Garden Grove - http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/ggrca. Can't be doing with staying in Anaheim and not staying at my favourite hotel the Hyatt Regency O.C. so we're going to stay there for one week and another hotel for two. ;)

I've read a few reviews on it (the Holiday Inn Express that is) and it seems real nice. A lot of people say that even though it's not rated any better than a few of the hotels closer to the DLR it does seem better. How people want to stay as close to the Magic as possible so the hotel know they can get away with cutting a few corners?!?

So anyone ever stayed there? Any info. you can give me? No detail too small. What's the road that it's on like? I've had a look on Terraserver and it looks like more of a residential area but with hotels either side of it.

Any help/info. would be greatly appreciated.

Just south of the 22 fwy,
behind the hotel is north santa ana,
not the best of areas.
I wouldn't go for an evening stroll anywhere south of the 22.

If your renting a car,
it shold be OK,
but if your using the buses and walking,
be careful and keep alert for trouble.

where the hotel is, is a nice little pocket,
but don't travel to far from the property there.

Thanks for the info. I posted the exact same message on another Disney board and I got pretty much the same messages. How Garden Grove is a scary place?! :icon_shoc I had no clue!!! So thankful for boards like these.

The hotel looks nice and looks like great value for money but I'm guessing it has to be if it's in a dodgy area?! I'll think twice about this hotel now. Such a shame 'coz the reviews were fantastic. I wanna enjoy my vacation though so I guess not staying there would be the best thing to do.

And yeah, we're renting a car (always do) so we wouldn't be walking anywhere. Especially in areas like that. I found Harbor to be a little dodgy at times so I can only imagine what areas further out are like.

Was that due to the area or the hotel?! How did you find the area in general staying there on vacation?!

The area wasn't great, but the hotel was - well - not great either.

It wasn't really dirty or anything, it was just wasn't very nice (seemed to be a little old and rund down), and when we got the room there was no alarm clock, we had to ask for extra towels a few times, we didn't get an alarm clock until the 2nd day of our stay. Another issue was the "adult" channel was sandwhiched between 2 local channels and as you scrolled through you would get some nice pictures splashed accross the screen, no big deal to me, but my kids didn't need to see anything like that:eek: .

Wow!!! I sure hope you complained as that being viewable to everyone in your rooms is completely unacceptable!!! Really can't believe that!!

We're going to go for the HI Inn behind the DLR for our first two weeks then the Hyatt for the final weel now. And we're all happy with these decisions so we're gonna stick!!!

Thanks for the info though. Think a visit to this hotel next summer will be in order.
