just so you all know, i'm a big broadway nut. well, anyway, i was with my friend shopping in palisades mall the other day, & i picked up the Mary poppins cast recording in london. I had been very interested in the idea of a Mary poppins musical, and i'm very glad they made it. well, anyway, the cast recording was fantastic, and i mean really, the lyrics are great, the cast is brilliant, and it's practically perfect in every way. know, here comes the reason why i made this thread. has anyone else bought the cd? have anyof you seen it? if so, can you give a complete synopsis, & any pics of it you have. well, JUST POST!!!!!

well, i got inot the cty around 8:25. We then got to the audition room around 8:40. The line wasn't that long. We waited about 2 hours in this big room, but i didn't care, i was just talking to people & such. There were mostly adults, but there were about 6 girls, and two other boys. when i was called, i really wasn't that nervous. When I went in, I had taken my glasses off, so i couldn't really see faces that well. I sang my song, pretty well i thoought, and left the room. After that, we ate lunch, and my dad bought me a nice pop-out picture for my room. overall, i did my best.

Maybe next time. I am still impressed that you even went in for an audition, to think I used to get nervous at your age about an oral book report.

Ok, more news, now, rumors are going around that Disney is out of money for Mary Poppins and people who have seen sneak peaks of it don't like it. They say it's too dark and scary. In my opinion, it is pretty scary, but the main point of the show is it's amazing music. So, there may be a possibility that Mary Poppins won't live long on Broadway, if it ever comes. Still, let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

More new news!!!! Ashley brown & Gavin Lee are comfirmed as the title roles on Broadway, ashley is from Beauty & the Beast & Gavin's from the original Mary Poppins. Also, the darker parts of the show seem to have been cut out, but my singing teacher is preparing kids for the show and in her copy of the script, the two originally cut out scenes are in there. The two scenes come from the original book. One is Temper Temper, a scene where Jane and micheal's toys come to life and punish them after they loose their temper. the other is mary popins leaving. she leaves, and a terrible nanny takes her place. but, mary poppins comes back, and shrinks the nanny, puts her in a bird cage, and has the nanny's bird carry her away. also, my friend's neighbor got the part of Jane in th show!!!!

Yes, I did see Lion King, It's definately amazing. So, as for last night! First, they had to stop the show, for a large set piece wasn't moving. After that, the show was absolutely amazing! Definately go see it.

Whoa, wait, Temper Temper was taken out?!!!! And Miss Andrew too? Nooo!!! I thought those scenes were so cool because they aren't in the movie and tie the books together much better. And Temper Temper is such an awesome song. Do you know why they cut them?

Ok, so I don't know how I missed this thread. Maybe because I haven't been on the forum in ages but now I just have to share. The musical is amazing and if you get the chance to see it... GO!!!! There are a bunch of new songs and many of the songs we know and love are in there as well but slightly different (as I'm sure you noticed, jagfkb). I love two of the new ones, Practically Perfect and Anything Can Happen, and I really love the new version of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious because now I know how to spell it! I'm just really hoping that they keep the choreography pretty much the same from the London show because it was so awesome in that song.

I've known about the show being in London for months and told my mom earlier in the year that I wanted to go to London so I could see Mary Poppins on the West End. She looked at me and pretty much just said, yeah right, in your dreams. Like we could afford to go to Londond just to see Mary Poopins. Well, just as Disney says, dreams can come true. My sister and grandparents were supposed to go to England on a Harry Potter in July but my grandma hurt herself and couldn't go (she's fine now, she just couldn't handle the long flight at the time) and my grandpa didn't want to go without her. SInce there was no way they were cancelling the trip (it was about two weeks before they were supposed to leave) they sent my mom and I with my sister instead. The last two days in London we had some free evenings and since everyone in our tour loved musicals we decided to go see some shows. We saw Les Mis the first night because we've never seen it and I really wanted to. But the second night I (finally!) got to see Mary Poppins!!! And my mom reminded me while we were sitting in the audience during intermission about how I'd told her a few months before about how I really wanted to see it in London and there we were, seeing it in London. So there's my story.

I very, very highly recommend this show but I have to warn you that it is really different from the movie. And it's pretty different from the books as well. The scenes aren't all in the order we know or even the way they are in the movie. Jolly Holiday, for instance, doesn't take place in the picture. In fact, they never even go into the picture. The reason behind this, I believe, is because the people that wrote the show were trying to stay closer to the books, in honor of the author, because she really didn't like the movie (and if you've ever read the books you'll understand why). So the scenes take place much more like they would in the books. I think they did a great job tying the books and the movie together but I thought I ought to warn you guys because about halfway through the first act I started getting really confused because the show was different from how I remembered the movie. But I'll shut up now because I've already written a lot. If anyone wants to know anything, though, ask and I'll tell you what I can.

Actuallly, I had bought the soundtrack a year ago, and had everyone in the cast sign it. The main differences from the West End show and the Broadway show is that in Jolly Holiday, while there are statues, there are also the people in the park, in extremly bright clothing. They also meet Quen Victoria. They do haveTemper, Temper, but the ensemble of dolls are now giant teddy bears, stuffed rabbits, and frogs. And in Anything can happen, all the choreography was the same, but there was a new set, a giant version of Mary's umbrella. In Step in time, Bert walks around all the walss instead of just the one wall, then floating down. In general, the colors were much righter, but the plot stayed the same.
