So if I had a business trip to Pleasanton, CA and I could get away for a week day to go to DL, how would I do this? Drive times, distances, where to stay on property, when to leave to get back to, etc...

Let's assume I have a Thursday to dedicate to this - meaning that I could drive from Pleasanton on Wednesday evening and be at the park gates waiting for them to open on Thursday.

This would happen in November.

Thanks for doing my research for me...

Hello!!

I work in Pleasanton, CA. Pleasanton is not all that close to Disneyland, I would say a 5-6 hour drive, but then I may drive slower than most. You might be better off flying out of Oakland, CA after work on weds and coming back on Thursday night. Of course that's more expensive, but not much more than driving with the way gas prices are out here, lol.

To get there you just take Hwy 580 E. to I-5 South, which runs right by Disneyland.

As for where to stay, I always prefer the Park inn Anaheim. It's right across the street from the back entrance. But that's when I fly and don't have a car and am going for a few days so want a more comfortable room. You can probably find a less expensive room if all you are going to do is sleep for one night and will have a car.

I have actually known people who have taken similar Disney trips, lol.

I have been to Pleasanton before but all those cities south of SF run together for me.

Hmmm. 6 hours? I guess I should have my return flight leave LAX. So the drive would be from Pleasanton to the DL hotel on Wednesday night. Wake up and all day on Thursday in DL. Fly out of LAX the Friday morning.

Is that better?

If you don't have any reason to return to the San Francisco bay area after Disneyland I think I would definitely look into flying out of LAX on Thursday night or Friday morning (Friday is going to be busy). John Wayne airport is also nearby (airport code SNA) and is the airport I usually use, but it is smaller and it depends where you are going after that. for flights from the middle of CA to So. Cal John Wayne is easer than LAX imho, but it seems flights out of LAX can be less expensive in my experience. Mind you this is only based on research I have done for various trips where I started out in Oakland, CA. I paid a few bucks more for the convenience of flying into John Wayne.

A co-worker of mine says they get to Disneyland in five hours from here. It takes me about six, but I like to stop when I want to stop and I don't really drive much over the speed limit. I like to make the drive down part of the journey.

P.S. all the cities over here run together for me too, and I'm from here :-/

Yeah, Pleasanton is roughly 6 to 7 hours away. You WOULD be better off flying down there. See if you can fly into Orange County/John Wayne Airport. That's the closest airport to Disneyland (about 15 min away versus LAX that's more like 30-40 minutes away).

Thanks, I have flown out of John Wayne before - I forgot about that! That's the airport that it is good to warn a friend before they take off (they kill the engines after take off of noise abatement) - pretty scary if you do not know in advance!

Yeah, when my wife and I visit the park over Thanksgiving (also my Birthdate), we will be flying into and out of John Wayne Airport! It's a nice airport, I used to fly in and out of there when I won trips to Disneyland in the Cub/Weeblo/Boy Scouts.
