Hey,

I'm heading over the sea from Australia to DL on November 23rd, and was wondering what in the way of tours and extras would be good to do?

We were looking at a Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour, and possibly a Special Seating at Fantasmic! We already have a Character Breakfast booked, but what else is there to do in the way of extra tours and special things. would appreciate any help we can get. We're coming a fair way and are really looking forward to it, and we have 2 weeks to do EVERYTHING

Lucky you! For us we usually only get 5 or 6 days there. One day is a no park day so we do a downtown disney day. We start with the gospel brunch at house of blues. Absolutly incredible!!!!! I cant say how much we loved it. The music was great, the food was great and since it was my bday last time we got to go up on stage! They have a 10 and 1 show. We use up our ESPN game cards, do shopping and wandering in the stores. You didnt mention any kids but build a bear and the lego store both take up a good hour each. we usually end the day with a movie at the theatre.
Ive also done the tjjauana mexico tour (without kid) and that was pretty cool. Seaworld and universal with kids. OK. I am hoping to do the Fantasmic! dessert this next trip also. Anyway, have fun!

Well, the next day you can find me at the Disneyland Hotel's Thanksgiving Dinner :)
It will be my birthday!

Okay, so that's not all that fun, but.......

You CAN'T (and I repeat CAN'T) miss the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show at the Golden Horseshoe! Okay? Okay!

Is the hotel just running that for guests or is it a booking thing or what??

We're interested now. Oh and just so you know it'll just be me (21) and my partner (21). No Kids... well except for us!!!

This really isn't at the park but... When my family went down we went to the Medival Feast. That was so cool. I would highly recomend it to anyone.

it's called Medieval times (http://www.medievaltimes.com/)
(click on it, its a link so you can see what it is)
It is pretty fun, right down the street from Knott's Berry Farm in close by Buena Park.

which if you have 2 weeks, you might just want to spend 1 day there.
(not as big as DL but interesting to see)

they are also opening another dinner/show room next to MT, it's called Pirates!
(not POTC though):icon_roll

I'm going to second this one, it is a blast. Dinner and a 2 1/2 hour show.

Two weeks in Souther California, there is a ton of stuff to do. San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park, Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier, LA has great museums, the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Again go on the web and check out the city guides.

Well since you have so much time on your hands...

-Grab a good spot two hours or so before Remember.... It'll be a long wait yes.... but you can send people out to grab food and bring them back. Maybe pack along some distractors too. Trust me, this show is worth the wait, if your spot is good enough.
-On that note, Grab a good spot two hours or so before Fantasmic. Same reasons.
-Enjoy everything on mainstreet. There's a lot of charm put into each of those buildings. I personally like the Cinema, just to relax, and enjoy the air conditioning.
-Enjoy all of the shops in Downtown Disney. Yes, its not disney... but we all need a break every now and then. The shops are interesting, some higher priced... but they're all very welcoming. Also take advantage of the movie theatre there.
-Take a day or two to just do LA, or San Diego. Hollywood is fun, as is the SD Zoo. Trust me, you will want to leave the resort. As much as we all love it there... the cabin fever will set in.
-If you all are really into Disney movies, check out the whole loop in the Animation lobby at DCA. Last I checked I thin it might even be like an hour long.
-Take time to explore all of the Grand Californian. Even if you're not staying there, the lobby is a nice place to relax. The restraunts are cozy, and I even think you can get a map from the lobby where you can find pieces of interest. If the adults want some time to relax, the heathstone lounge is a really cozy bar there.

All in all, if you have that much time, do everything you can. Do every attraction, look in every shop, try to experience as many different food venues as you can.

I would say spend a day at Disneyland Hotel.

Do they do special things there? Or are there special displays? Just curious. I'm looking at maybe staying there in May for a few nights. Is it worth it?

I would say the distance that you're traveling it would be worth it to stay there. I don't know if they have shows anymore, they used to have a dancing waters show but that's gone. They may have something else. No matter how you slice it, it's a wonderful place to stay. I'm only 97 miles away so when I go there I kind of stop by and hang around for a while

There is also a great tour of the Grand Californian hotel. It is free and you can sign up at the desk. It talks about the art and the hotel itself.

Thanks for the pics! It looks pretty nice, especially the waterfalls. We're probably going to stay there for a few nights of our trip, then move to someplace less expensive for the rest of our trip (after disneyland). We'll be making the decisions soon.

We enjoy heading over to the waterfalls on busy days at the park.
It's never very crowded there.

The waterfalls are in the common area, just in front of the south wing.
