I heard the first week in Dec. was going to be pretty empty at DLR, however when I called to book 2 rooms at Paradise Pier, I was told everything was booked. So we upgraded to a suite. I am going Dec. 4th-8th. Is something special going on that I am not aware of or is this just a fluke...?

It is the Holiday season for the DLR. They have rides like the Haunted Mansion Holiday and parades and stuff.

It's also the 50th celebration, too. When I called a year in advance to make my reservations for July, everything at the 3 DLR hotels was filled up, except for a city view room at the Paradise Pier Hotel.

They also have the candlelight ceremony on the weekend of the 4th and 5th I believe. It gets pretty busy on that weekend.

Bingo. I think it's actually the 3rd and 4th, though.

I believe it is when there is a moment of silence and all the people raise a candle. I'm not 100% sure though.

It is the Candlelight Procession and every year Disneyland has a celebrity recite "Twas The Night Before Christmas" and they have a chorus sing Christmas songs. It's a nice event.

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm planning a trip for that weekend. Can you give me more info on this? Do you have to have tickets to the event? Is the park closed to those without tickets?

I would also like information about this event. I have heard rumours that Dick Van Dyke is hosting the event. Is the a website we can see the details for this on?
