I am coming in late jan/early feb. My daughter and i are coming for a special 'we beat cancer!' trip. I want to spend some extra money on the DRH but the CCI sounds almost just as good. (reveiws I've seen) I'm just stuck and I need someone to push me over the edge! Anyone willing!?

I loved the Candy Cane Inn. I guess it's what you want the most, having more money for Disney stuff or having the experience of staying at a Disneyland Hotel. I really don't think you can go wrong either way. Hope you have a wonderful trip and what a great reason to be going!!

The money difference is the big thing. If you know you can afford the DRH then go for it, otherwise stay at the CCI for much less money. You might even look into other hotels that are right across the street from the main entrance on S. Harbour Blvd. I am from BC too and went in August. We only used the room to sleep and shower. The rest of the time was spent in the parks and Disney District. The price difference between the two hotels is big but again, if you can afford it, more power to you, if not, Disneyland won't judge you . Have a great time and congratulations!

Ididn't like the CCI very much. It depends how many people you have. More than three go with disney less then three go to CCI if you want a magical expiernce and early park hours go Disney Land Hotel

Personally, I'd even stay at a cheaper hotel and use any extra money on souvenirs!!! You aren't at your hotel room all that much, just to sleep pretty much....so why spend more money on an expensive hotel, when you can buy more things to take home forever!!! Try the Castle Inn, or the Anaheim International, or Abby's Anaheimer Inn off Katella.....they are less expensive, clean, and you can then buy more stuff!! YEAH!

I say if it is just you and your daughter and you can afford the room rates stay at the DLH. Request the Sierra Tower with a Downtown Disney view. What a wonderful trip you are going to have and congratulations on beating cancer, that takes a lot of patience and courage. This will be a well deserved trip. Feb is a good time to go also, less crowds so, you can take your time.

The CCI is a great place to stay, and the DLH is a resort hotel. It depends on what you want. Price is a big difference, and me personally I tend to stay at hotels with my employee discount, and spend more money in the parks! But of course, both are great, and it is true that you'll pretty much use the room for sleep and showers! But for me, the hotel has to be ok for me to stay in it, but the CCI is great! Both are Great! Hard decision... but congrats on a great recovery, and have a great time, which you will, no matter where you stay!

We always stay at Park Vue Inn which is directly across the street from the Disneyland entrance. We made our reservations when we were there in July for our November trip and our room is only $62.00 a night! Since we spend every waking moment at Disneyland, we choose not to spend the extra money on a room where we only go to sleep for a few hours. I'd rather have more money to spend on Dole Whips and other Disney things!!!

I have stayed at the CCI twice and DLH twice in recent years. The CCI was nice and close and they do provide a shuttle bus anyway if your tired of walking at the end of the day. it had a great Continental breakfast and the pool was ok, a little small but it was fine.

The DLH was really good too. it had the Disney magic and it also has the pixie dust. I stayed there once on the 3rd floor and once on the 12th floor. on the 12th floor stay we were staying on the same floor as cuba gooding jr.. but back to my thoughts on the hotel, it was a very nice hotel but a bit more costy. you can take the monorail back and forth so there really is no walk. the pool is awsome, neverland themed. if you have never stayed there before you should probably stay there because the expieriance is cool, but again it costs more. so your call those are just my thoughts

Thank you all very much for your reply. Maybe the first night at DRH just to get in the Disney mood (not that that will take much!) And yeah, i'm sure we would only be there for sleeping and showering. The good continental breakfasts and fridge are really important to use. That cuts down alot on the amount of food that has to be bought on property. I'll look around some more. Park Inn & Suites?

Check out Hotels.com. They have a special going with DRH. I'm not sure if it is still going on for Jan., but you can still look into it. Park Inn and Suites is also a great hotel, but a little extra gets you the DRH. That's where I'll be in Dec. Booked Grand Californian with Hotels.com and got a rate about $200 a night.

Candy Cane Inn is something that I would recomment. Just because it's cheaper so you can use the extra money for spending money!!!

Really, the Candy Cane Inn is a pretty good hotel. The question is - how much time are you planning on spending at the hotel? If you want a place to sleep, go with CCI. Plus, they have a really good continental breakfast included with the room, so, hey, free breakfast. What could be better?

However, if you're planning on spending a lot of time at Downtown Disney, your feet may be more thankful for a quick walk to the DH.
