Space mountain:
Cool special effects
Huge enviorment
Awesome music
very fast
very smooth
INDIANA JONES:
Vey cool special effects
very rough (that makes it fun!)
Cool animatroonic of Indy
The boulder effect
The laser that comes of Mara's eye
I have no clue which is better
But I like space mountain a bit better.

There is no way to pick one. They are both among the best of the best at Disneyland.

I would say Indy, but... That SMELL... What is that supposed to be, anyway? It probably is supposed to smell like an old tomb or something, but it actually smells like a reuben sandwich that has been sitting in the sun for a few days, LOL! The smell is just too sharp and synthetic. I wonder who decided that it was bearable in the first place. YUK!!!
So, for the sheer enjoyability of the ride, Space Mountain has to take the prize. As long as there's no line, that is. The queue is so much more beautiful on Indy.
Okay, now Indy is better.

I think Indiana Jones is okay, it's a little boring, but Space Mountain isn't a thrilling ride either, but I think I'll go with Indiana Jones, it is longer and has more to look at that white dots on the side of a building and ugly coaster machinery crammed together.
Space Mountain Mike
09-27-2005, 06:35 PM
It's actually kind of difficult to see the coaster machinery because it's so dark, but then Indy is also dark.
I think that's more true of the other place (http://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain) "hey look an orange rollercoaster, hey look, that one is BLUE. Gee, such imagination and variety. Sorry I'm getting off track. No pun intended

Psh Indy is better than space mountain... Space Mountain is still exactly the same. While it is a great ride, it just isn't astonishing enough to get my vote. Indy was a ground breaking new type of ride... it hadn't been done before, and has only been used in other disneyland parks (i think)... Space Mountain, although newly refurbished and with an awesome soundtrack, doesn't have much going for it. Like someone said, it is just a crammed up track with white lights... I mean i could do that at my house with some boards a wagon and a disco ball. There is just no comparison. Indiana Jones just blows my mind. It has fire... inside of the ride... and a BUBBLING lava pit. Not to menion one of the best themed qeue lines ever. It has little hidden things from all of the movies and just fits everything so perfectly. As for space mountain... Its themed yes... but, I think they should have made the qeue line more like mission space. They should have looked at real space station pictures, and made things more realistic... right now they seem like a disney space sci- fi film, especially since the qeue didn't change, and that stupid mission control thing is still hanging in the middle of the ceiling. GO INDY GO!

Exactly my thoughts. I love the ride on Space Mountain, because it's fast and I feel it's more worth the wait. The first time you go on Indy, though, you're just amazed and you have to ride it again because you know you didn't see everything.

I am going to have to go with Indiana Jones because they took out the Dick Dale soundtrack on Space Mountain and Indy is worth going on more than once. The whole thing of taking the Dick Dale soundtrack out on Space Mountain in my opinion was unnecessary. I want to know why they changed it.

As much as I love SM. I'm goin to have to go with Indy. Space is one of my favorite rides, but it doesn't have the "let's go on it again, and again, and again" factor that Indy has. I can ride SM a couple of times during the day. But with Indy I can hop on it over and over again through out the day and I never get tired of it.

I consider both Space Mountain and Indiana Jones equal because they're in the "Top Five". And I like the "Space Mountain--New Daytime Track" in Space Mountain. Indiana Jones is cool because it was rough like what the Rocket Rods used to be.

This is the way I look at it:
What if Disney said "OK, listen up people!! Today we decided to blow up an attraction, but we can't decide between Space Mountain and the Indiana Jones Adventure. So you all riot and duke it out old school."
Which would you fight to defend?

Indiana Jones! I love it because of the story and all of the little details! (I know that Space has lots of little details too, but what about the cool story?) I think that I could ride Indiana Jones over and over and oever again because it's one of those rides where you can see the people next to you and just enjoy their facial expressions and hear them screaming like crazy.
Space is awesome too, it's just that my heart belongs to Indy. :D

I wouldn't be able to decide which one. I love both of them.
Indiana Jones Adventures and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye is a great attraction that has a great theme and has parts in it that interacts with you so that you wouldn't be bored waiting. Of course, the attraction involves you right in the beginning when you enter the queue. Those are the great things about this attraction.
Space Mountain has always been a crowd favorite. For those of you who said that it's dark, all I have to say is that you're in a rocket going through space. It's suppose to be dark and it's a cool effect having the stars moving around. It's a well-themed attraction that has a great feeling and music.
It's just too difficult for me to decide which attraction is better.

Wow.......I think my brain might explode if I think about this one any longer.
It's a very difficult decision, and I feel an obligation to say both, because I'd feel bad if I chose one over the other. It's like trying to chose between ice cream and mashed potatoes, I really like them both, and it's simply impossible to decide between the two.
Indy is extremely exciting. It gives you this sense of adventure that you can't experience in day to day life. It's creative and fascinating. The ride is very well done, and it's complexity is mind-boggling, I mean for heavens sake it has 160,000 different ride combinations!
Space Mountain is, and will always be a classic. It's very thrilling, and and an excellent roller coaster. It's remained popular among Disneyland guests for a very long time, and is the favorite ride of many people. I would definitely feel a loss if Space Mountain were to disappear. I mean, how many roller coasters go through outer space!?
I can't decide, it's completely impossible. I love each ride equally and I'd never be able to choose.

Wow! Of all the impossible-to-answer threads I've answered lately, I think this one takes the cake. These two are quite possibly my top favorites at DLR--I've been known to ride each one two to four times in one day if given the chance. I'd be devastated if either were ever removed, but I guess I'd have to say that loss of Indy would be slightly more devastating for me--simply because it'd be a harder experience to recreate. Space Mountain is an incredible experience. I rode it four times last time I was there, and happily would have ridden a fifth time. The intermingled senses of creepiness and adventuresomeness and wonderment and fear are simply mind-blowing, and the ride itself is quite a thrill. I love swooping through the dark with the cold wind in my hair.
But...and I HATE saying this...it's not quite so unique an experience as Indy. While on a given day I may enjoy SM more than Indy, it's the latter that features the most unique and involved theming. TDL's version is different in numerous ways, making ours truly unique. Space Mountain exists in four similar-but-different incarnations. I've only ridden the Disneyland version, though I've extensively researched the others, and I have to say that while Disneyland's version will always be unbelievably special to me, I would still be able to get a somewhat comparable experience at WDW, TDL, or HKDL. DLP...well, that's a different beast, and one that I fear I may terrifiedly take on someday...
Anyway, I guess I'd have to say Indy is my choice for this thread. But saying such things feels like stabbing a dearly beloved friend in the back. :(
