it is when many people post on one topic, like has 4 pages of posts in like a day or something like that :)

A "Hot Topic" has at least 150 views or 15 posts, whichever comes first.

I always wondered. It is probably in the rules but I haven't read them in about a year!!

It's not in the rules, just a feature of the software.
