Which Hall of Promise do you like the most? WHY!?
Disneyland_Wolf
09-19-2005, 07:26 PM
All, cause I am a Indy fantatic and Sallah and Indy would visit all of the doors to find out it's secrets of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Also, the Observatory of the Future is filled with sparkling and stars. Mara tells your future to each tourists, if they don't look into the eyes of Mara.
I am not greedy, but do enjoy buying my favorite games and movies. I would get a lot of gold and give it to the poor people and the homeless. And I would also save gold for my family. Just don't look into the eyes of Mara.
If I drink the fountain of youth, I will become younger or drunk or immortal.
Don't peek into Mara's eyes or he will sent you to the Gates of Doom. Some tourists or people mistaken Mara as a female goddes. But his voice is male and his face is masculine.
"A chilling tale, Indy."

The Hall of Promise is the hall where Mara face is, in the Temple of the Foribidden Eye. Just choose the door that you want and Mara will grant your wish. Watch the Eye of the Globe again and now you will know what is the Hall of Promise. It is the pre-show film in the safety film part.

By the way...
Nobody seems to like the Fountain of Youth that much! This is how I think the results should be!
1. In first place, The Observatory of the Future (which is already there! )
2. In second, The Fountain of Youth (nobody likes the watery lights and sounds? )
3. Last, The Chamber of Earthly Riches (gold isn't that interesting:icon_conf )

I think the observatory of the future, imagine you could see who will win big sporting events to gamble on to win money that way, you could see how you will die and try to prevent that as much as possible and live as long as possible, I know thats not forever but its good enough for me, plus you could see what we finally figure out to be the cause of Cancer and other diseases so we could cure them now. PLUS a bunch of other stuff.

I like the chamber of Earthly Riches, because you see treasures on the side of you. When Mara says "You seek the Treasure of Mara? Glitter in gold, it is yours!" I say, "Great! now I can have my own mansion!"

I picked the Chamber of Earthly Riches, because that is what reminds me most of Indy, and feels the most Indy to me. Maybe because that one is use in all the press stuff!

Eye on the Globe never mentions anything about a "Hall of Promise." Neither the full version, or the edited version version that is now shown in the film room, says anything about it. I can give you the entire script if you would like. I've never heard of a "Hall of Promise" either, but I know there are apparently names for many things in IJA that weren't exactly made public. In Remember, Sallah warns "As you enter the Chamber of Destiny, do not look into the eyes of the idol!" Well...the only place to do this is in the so-called "Hall of Promise," but it's referred to as the "Chamber of Destiny." The entrance room with the moving walls should merely be the Chamber's entrance.

The crem de la crem of the international smart set are wearing khaki this year, and the new vacation hot spot is Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Everyone's agog over this intriguing discovery by famed archaeologist Indiana Jones. They've heard rumors that it rewards visitors with unlimited riches, eternal youth, or visions of the future. There's just one little hitch - the ancient temple idol. Dr. Jones' longtime friend Sallah warns that if you so much as peek into its eyes, the next stop on your intinerary will be the gates of doom. Here's silent film star Norah West, one of the temple's recent visitors. She visited the Fountain of Eternal Youth. No more matronly roles for Norah, move over Gene Harlow! This jubliant junior visited the Chamber of Earthly Riches. Looks like his allowance has gone up. Hey buddy, can ya spare a dime? How 'bout a million of 'em? Why even Sallah confessed that he had recently visited the Observatory of the Future. Maybe he can tell us who will win the World Series? Let's ask. "Oh yes about the series, my friends, the baseball players are the big winners. Someday, they will be making millions of dollars a year!" Hmm, perhaps even the vision of the gods can be a bit blurred. Will it happen? Keep your Eye on the Globe!
Well there ya have it...don't see any mention of a "Hall of Promise."
-- Peoplemover "Your path now leads to the gates of doom... AH HAHA! :old_wink: " Matt
EDIT: And for the record, http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/Shores/1345/ calls it the Hall of Promise, but gives no explanation why. It's also very interesting that the inscriptions, that site translates them all, talk about a Chamber of Destiny, but give no mention of a Hall of Promise. Let me know if I've just missed it, I don't see it.

maybe Disneyland_Guy is talking about the version in which Sallah talks for most of the time. The version that shows that guys turning into a skeleton and stuff. There's that version and the woman talking...maybe he means the Sallah version. But you're right, Sallah does say in RDCT not to look at the idol in the "Chamber of Destiny". possible mix up?

Ever wanted to know which chamber did Indy went to? Here's a cool fact:
Indy went through the Observatory of the Future and looked into the Eye of Mara & saw himself and Sallah lifting the Ark of the Covenant. This is in the ride map that they used to sell. In the map, Indy writes that he went into the observatory & looked in the amulet and saw him & Sallah lifting the ark in a tomb in Egypt. He wonders if he was really seeing the future or it was wishful thinking.

Is it a carved image on a wall or an actual 3-D statue?

Actual 3D statue. If it is flat and themed on the wall. How was it supposed to pour fake water from its pot it's holding. Also it is pretty small, so the giant rooms can switch each time, when the door is changed.

I'm a big fan of what the rooms do when you go into each fate. I like the future one the best because of the stars on the celing. It looks the Hawaiian stars to me, which is the best.

Ah...Can't decide, only because I've only started riding the ride, and I've only been in the Observatory of The Future and the Chamber of Earthly Riches. I'd very much like to see the Chamber of Destiny for Eternal Youth.
Oh. And to put the theory to rest, the same map that was mentioned earlier labels the loading area the Hall of Promise. I actually use the map for a desktop. ^^
Hope that clears things up. If you need proof, I could always post the image.

It gets paintings because the lights in front of the scrim are turned on as opposed to off during the other 2 doors.
barfownz
04-01-2006, 08:52 PM
So the lights make up the paintings?
wdwmickeyfan
04-01-2006, 09:02 PM
So the lights make up the paintings?
Yes, the paintings are "painted" on the scrims, and will only show when there is light shining on it. For the youth room, the lights in front of the scrim are turned on which reveal the paintings of natives. For the treasure room, the lights in front are turned off, and the lights behind the scrim are turned on instead. This makes the paintings disappear, and shows you the statues and the pictures of gold behind the scrim. For the future room, all lights are turned off except for the dim purple light. Also, a fiber optic star projection is shown on the ceiling with an illuminated eye for the amulet.

It's really an interesting effect. The good thing about the future room is that you can't see the walls and the scrims. In the youth room, you can sometimes see the gold behind the scrim.

Actually for everyone's sake, I will list all the effects in each different room.
Visions of the Future: Room is dimly lit in a purple light. Fiber optic star projection is turned on in the ceiling with an illuminated eye for the amulet.
Earthly Riches: Room is brightly lit in a golden light. You can see golden statues of Mara on each side of the room, with a background of golden coins.
Eternal Youth: Room is lit in a blue light with water reflections everywhere. There are water paintings (frescos) of male natives on the left, and female on the right. The frescos show them drinking from the fountain, and turning back to their youth. There is also a small statue that looks as if it's pouring water from an urn. It is lit in a blue light also. This room is really packed with details, and you will have to look closely to find them all.
