Any chance VF could implement a PSP friendly version of the site? I am away from a desktop/laptop computer throughout the day more than I am am from my trusty little PSP, which I love to surf on, and I'm usually always in a wi-fi hotspot - easier to whip out my psp than to tug a laptop around I guess. I know you guys have been busy just getting the site back up so if not then absolutely no worries at all as it is not that big of a deal. Thanks

If I had this device and service it would be much easier to answer that question, but since I'm not unfamiliar with this mobile device, I'm guessing the chances of us being compatible with mobile hardware in the future is not likely. Since the entire site is based on tables and CSS (Cascading style sheets) makes it even more difficult.

Totally cool. Just wondering if one of my favorite sites would be going that way at all. Thanks Chris!

Hmm.. The forum itself should be psp compatible. I'm assuming you mean the real site itself..

PSP's browser basically doesn't support java / flash / shockwave. So it'd pretty much be an issue of having one of those alternate viewing sites that's just traditional html pages.

Even without flash, I'd think the PSP would be able to view the text and urls on these pages, and most of the VF pages have all the links featured on their flash maps listed as text links as well... So it should already work just you don't see the flash maps.

No I mean formatted to fit to the screen, etc. If you have a PSP you would know what I mean. At least it's viewable so I'm happy. Sony is talking about supporting Java and Flash soon so at least we will get to see the flash intro at the entering the site soon!

how about cell phones?

The VF forums and site would not be compatible with cell phones because they use tables and CSS formatting. I think we're going to have to wait for the technology to catch up, which it likely will soon.

Yeah hopefully the browser on it will be more useful to people than gimmicky so more sites will tailor psp friendly versions. PSPs are very pricey still and PCs are still the best medium to interact with websites (especially since typing messages on a psp is still not as fuild as typing on a good ol' keyboard), so I might be dreaming for anything to start happening soon. There are some already for PSP, but as almandot was stating, VF still works without the flash stuff for now. Hopefully sony will support flash soon.

I love this little device. I don't use it as much for the games as I do for holding VF ride videos, music and the browsing. I do play a few games but I just don't have the time like I used to.

Hope you can get one Stephen since they are great! Oh btw- the dancing milk is hot!

Yes... people do... but a handheld video game platform with a chat service and internet browser is a big advance in technology... wait for Nintendo to catch up, then Playstation will make another gigantic leap and leave Nintendo in the dust for a few years.

I do find it interesting people are using the PSP to play Nintendo games.

1 gig! Nice! Yeah no more emulators with the new update I dont think. That sucks. I love old school games.

Sorry Chris. I hope we are not going off topic too much.

That is why I have to live without the browser but I still have my laptop so I am not really worried. I can also use my cell phone as a modem with my laptop. At home I can use PortableVNC to view my desktop on my PSP. It is really cool. I only have 70mb left because I put Pirate's the movie on it. 670Mb put it is cool if you are stuck waiting for something.

Wow, I just haven't had the heart to shell out 150 bucks for a gig yet, but that may be changing sooner than expected.

That portable vnc seems very interesting. Esentially it is just another vnc only rolled on the psp right? Is it homebrewed? I've been hearing a lot of people having issues with homebrew now that fw ver 2.0 does not allow unsigned code. I will definitely scope it out.

Maybe we should start a thread in off-topic since this one is going off the original topic and seems to be of ongoing interest to at least a few of us.
