there are a ton of hidden things at disneyland. I will just list off a few of what i know. fell free to post your own "hidden" info.
In line for alice in wonderland, right before you get in the caterpillar there is a yellow mushroom, look closely. there is a door. It was one of the original ticket booths!
In new orleans square, stop right before the pirates of the carribean line and look up and left. You will see the top of a replacement columbia ship just incase one breaks down. After every few posts i will add new info on hidden things.

the 'ghost ship' has always been there....I remember seeing it as a kid
(many many many years ago),
it's just some mast on the roof tops, not a 'spare columbia'...

how bout in star wars...all those little baskets going around on the conveyer above the queue have names and birthdates of the imaginears that helped create it! Also in star wars, when they "page" peole over head they page Sacul Egroeg which of course is George Lucas backwards!

I have heard that on the Pooh ride are the 3 heads from the Country Bear Jamboree. They are said to be hidden in a room above the door you enter, but to see them you have to turn around and look up. I have looked for a picture of this on the net, but cant find one.
I have also heard of a Hidden Walt, in the Disney Gallery, I think. Not sure on that one, though.

According to "printed stories", there is a bust of Mr. Toad, somewhere in the rafters of the que, that the cast members miss during "inventory". We found it +/- 4 years ago, sadly, on our last visit to the Park.

'Sorry....I was in a bit of a rush when I made that post. The bust of Mr Toad is said to be in the "rafters" above the que area of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride @ Disneyland. If memory is correct, I read this in an old copy of Disney News ( or whatever it may have been called at the time). I'll try to search through my archives for the specific publication, & location in the attraction. If it's still there, I'm not sure.
cheers,

Hmm I just looked around on google, and supposedly it's the one that you see in the waiting area. They found it up in the rafters during the 1983 fantasyland renovation while they were redesigning the front of the ride to look like toad hall.

When Walt was planning NOS he sent his artists out to New Orleans to gather info and drawings of what they saw. They saw that and drew it cause a ship was in the harbor. The drawings were sent to the architects and they made what they saw on the drawings. So now they are the shipless sails. It is all for looks and realism.

The lighthouse in front of storybookland is also an orinial ticket booth!
There's another original ticket booth in Fantasyland. It sells camera film and is sponsored by Kodak now I believe. Has a yellow roof which slightly resembles a Circus Big Top if I remember correctly.

Although I've heard the "hiding the lights" theory, the only explanation I've heard for the sails, from a CM tour leader, in person, was that the sails were put there for effect.
Millions of visitors have overlooked the sails; I doubt any lights that might be behind them would be noticed, if seen at all.
Also, the sails have been around since long before Fantasmic.

I'd never heard of that before, either! If someone could tell me where, I might get a picture.
Has anyone ever seen the Louisiana state flag flying over New Orleans Square? I actually got my question in the Disney Magazine over that one!
A lot of people know about Walt's and Lilly's apartment over the fire station, but many people do not know to look just to the left (over the restrooms) and you can see the veranda where Lilly entertained her own personal guests.

Your kidding right? No, no picture - I've seen it, my kids have seen it, our friends with us see it, people around us have seen it (heck we say in the ride look at Belle and everyone looks) - no flash photography in HM remember - I don't take pix inside the rides - makes others slightly edgy -
Maybe somewhere, someone took a picture - but the people dancing are holograms so I'm not sure if it would come out anyways, especially at the angle.
HM isn't closed yet for the holiday makeover - someone go and check it out

Which area of the ballroom is she in and is she dancing with a partner? Could it also be just a similar looking character?
With a partner and it's bell - in the gold dress and gloves - hair the same, etc. when you ride through that area you'll see the light shine off of the dress - I'm not kidding - we saw this when my youngest was 9 years old -
Some special occassion in the park, radio stations everywhere - we stopped for one of the LA rock stations (I used to work for KLOS, but I think it was Danny Bondeduce and another person) anwyays - they were doing trivia for prizes. So I whisper in my daughters ear to do the HM trivia. She raises her hand and says 'which disney character is dancing in the ballroom in the Haunted Mansion' - the radio jocks didn't know, it was funny, saying all kinds of things - all the 'disney people' trivia, AP'rs etc where all around - so they ask my daughter who, she repies Belle - and one of the jocks stand up 'okay smart ass little kid......who is the person....' and Boneduce stops him - but it was funny cause they were bested by a 9 yr old - anyways, we got a 4 pack of tickets to DL - cool - we had APs but cool -
It's pretty much a known little tidbit for the ballroom

That doesn't mean anything. Yes, the sails were put there in the first place for effect. When they made Fantasmic! they utilized those sails as vantage points to hide lights for the show. it doesn't matter that the sails were there before the show was created.

This morning I asked my daughter - who's in the HM? She said Belle of course - I told her there were some doubting Thomas's on the board, she laughed, she also thought everyone knew this

If the sails are for hiding any Fantasmic lights, it appears that they also placed buildings to hide the sails and added trees to hide the buildings.
You can hardly see the sails, let only anything that might be hidden behind them.
And, from the satelite image, you can see there's nothing behind them anyway.
I know!
Maybe, during the performance, they wheel out some rooftop lights and use the sails as cover

Maybe, during the performance, they wheel out some rooftop lights and use the sails as cover On that picture of the stage, that roped-off place in front of you looks like where Maleficent stands. Could you confirm, please

That picture makes me sad. They didn't even make it look nice. It is very sad to see them and know they won't be talking or singing again. Just stuffed AA trophies. Thanks for sharing it though. They aslo had at one time another trophy of Buff in the Mile Long Bar before they changed it. Also mad about that. I loved the Mile Long Bar.

in reguards to belle in the HM:
Beauty and the beast was released in 1991
HM opened in 1969
the dancers in the ball room have not been changed.
Yes there is a dancer that is dressed simular to belle,
But the HM is based on a southern plantation house.
(look at gone with the wind, same style of dresses)
it's close, but it is not belle.
(not unless some late 60's immagineer had the great fore site
of a movie that was coming out some 22 years later!!!) :icon_shoc

I agree. Belle is not in the Haunted Mansion. It could be a ghost that looks like her or something. But havent you ever seen pictures of how the dresses and hair looked in that time that the HM is trying to depict? A lot of women (who were wealthy in those times) wore dresses Identical to Belle's, and wore their hair identical too. Im sorry to say that, but it cannot be her. They have never changed the ballroom dancing ghost, and the HM has been around since 1969, and Belle since 1991. I can see why people would say that about the ghost that looks like Belle, but really it is not her. Sorry if anyone disagree's with me, but just think about the facts.=)

There many hidden things in the park. The Tower of Terror, if you look at the girl closely in the video you'll see she's holding a Mickey doll. Another something interesting is on the Haunted Mansion, the talking head in the graveyard that has fallen over resembles Walt Disney. Another fun fact is that on Indiana Jones there's and hidden Eyeore. In the video projector room, when you first enter, turn right and look closely. (You'll probably need a flashlight) Under some discharge on the wall you can see the Eyeore. It's there for the memory of the old praking lot that was in the place of where the ride stands today.

Actually, the head that has fallen over is not to resemble Walt Disney, it's Thurl Ravenscroft. He is the deep voice in the Haunted Mansion. The deep vocal voice I should say.

Just a bit of trivia that most people miss - in the store at very front of Disneyland there is an old section of newpaper rack outside of the park. The newpaper section inside the park used to carry a Disney Newspaper and the section outside the park and on the other side of the fence used to carry "Real World" newspapers. Just an example of how Walt wanted to keep the real world outside of the park. Sad to see it gone now -
Belle is not in the Haunted Mansion. It could be a ghost that looks like her or something. But havent you ever seen pictures...
Here is a pic courtesy of http://www.doombuggies.com/media_wallpaper.htm
Which one is Belle? The AA are very colorful (garish really) so that the transparent reflections you see are more clearly visible.
I recently read an article about how cast members working Peter Pan's Flight were always being asked which mermaid in the lagoon was Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Guests were so insistent about this being so that the cast members requested Imagineers to make one of them look like her during a rehab, so they did! Now one of the mermaids in PPF is Ariel.
(I thought that article was on JimHillMedia.com, but I can't seem to find it to link to, sorry)
Did you know that that is the actual skeleton of Walt Disney?
Walt Disney was not cryogenically frozen, he's not in any of the attractions, and he's not buried under Sleeping Beauty Castle either... Walt Disney was cremated and his remains are interred at the mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
Here are the directions if you want to go see the Disney family plot for yourself.

I was trying to say that Belle is Not in the HM. I havent heard anything about the immagneers transforming one of the ballroom ghost to look like Belle. Sorry , but in my opinion, its not belle.;)
I'm not saying one of the ghosts was re-done to look like Belle. As far as I know they havent been changed at all. for one thing the women still lead the dancing, and wouldn't that be the very first thing they change?
My real point here is about people being insistent that one of these ghosts IS Belle. I can understand indulging a small child by saying "Yes, honey, that is Belle" but to actually argue the point! I don't think any of these dancers look like Belle at all.
Maybe people see the orange one and think it's Belle? It doesn't look like her, but this image is the atual AAs, not the reflection you see when you're on the ride. The colors are toned down when you see them so maybe that's the one they're seeing.
Anyway, people see what they want to see. And you can't stop 'em! :icon_excl
BTW - I know this is off-topic, but ... since I found that neet pic of the Dancers in HM on Doombuggies.com I made a wallpaper! I layered them against a pic of the empty ballroom I found somewhere. I even painted in the orgainist. It's how it would look if you could go downstairs and join the party! It's only 800x600 because the ballroom pic is even smaller than that, and I didn't want to interapolate too much. Since this is a derivative work, all the credit should go to Doombuggies (http://www.doombuggies.com/). Anyway, here it is!

This is just your imagination! There in one 'hidden mickey' in the alice in wonderland attraction. It is in the rose garden scene, as you first enter- to the left. You see two cards painting the roses red (on the tree)... well the first card you see spills paint off his brush... one of the red paint drops falls on the bush into the shape of mickey! I'd like to see a picture of Ariel in Peter Pan's Flight, the link above doesn't work anymore. All I'm asking myself is, didn't those people asking for Ariel in a Peter Pan attraction (!) watch the movie Peter Pan or why didn't they know there are mermaids in the movie (and btw, also in the book...):icon_roll ? And then, Disneyland really changed one of the mermaids :icon_shoc. Has anyone of you older pictures of the mermaids, so I could compare the older one to the new one? That would be very nice.
Plus, what has become of that Belle in HM rumor? Was it really the ghost dressed in orange? I am just asking, because some of you absolutely insist it's her.

Here's the article about Character Cameos (http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jeff_lange/archive/2005/10/04/1524.aspx) in attractions. Jim Hill Media was redisigned. The Arial mermaid is in WDW's Peter Pan's Flight.
Here's a pic of the Ghostly Dancers (http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/showimage.php?i=4494&catid=member&imageuser=9791) in my gallery. The dresses match the hair, the one in the pink dress has pink hair, the one in the orange dress has orange hair, etc. None of them look to me like they're intentionally designed to look like Belle.

Thank you Ezra for the new link! This mermaid doesn't really look like Ariel to me, I mean her face. Maybe from far away, yes, but on the close-up picture you see she looks quite different from Ariel. It is obviously that they just changed an existing mermaid. Nevertheless, it seems kind of stupid to me that people asked for Ariel in a Peter Pan attraction. In an attraction that was built many years before The Little Mermaid came into cinemas.
But good to know that this is in WDW's Peter Pan's Flight, because WDW isn't really where I want to go. I want to go to... Disneyland (of course)!
I think they were talking about wee little children asking Is one of the mermaids Arial? They just know the videos, they don't know what came before when... So they gave one red hair and a clamshell bra just so the CM's could say Yes, did you see her? I think it's kinda cute.

Has anything been proved on Belle in the Ballroom thing?
Belle isn't in the Ballroom, the ghost that wears a golden dress that is similar to Belle's, but she does not look like her. It is hard to notice the facial features, since they are constantely dancing, also they do not appear in color, they are unearthy-greenish/blue see-through.
For more information: Doom Buggies Forum (http://p080.ezboard.com/bdisneyshauntedmansion).
Take another look at the Ghostly Dancers (http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/showimage.php?i=4494&catid=member&imageuser=9791). The red-head in the orange dress, I believe, is the one mistaken for Belle. The skirt of the dress is similar to Belles but that's really the only similarity.

So, I know everyone probably knows this already, but I'll post it anyway in case someone hasn't figured it out yet. In the Indiana Jones queue line, when you're going through the tunnel with the spikes coming out of the ceiling, try messing around with the "warped" pole. It will cause the ceiling above you to drop a few inches and make a big crashing sound. Also, a little further up the line, in the big dome room, you'll notice the rope that says "Do not pull rope" (or something like that). If you pull it, the miner inside will fall.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it does drop. Atleast every time I'm there. It only falls a few inches, and then you can watch it slowly raise up for the next person to mess with. Trust me, I'm not crazy:icon_shoc

but the ceiling does not move....
the pole will lower and bend a little,
and then straighten back out.
but no dropping of the ceiling....
check it out next time your there....

it didn't drop then,
it does not drop now.

Well I'm absolutely 100% certain on this one, so lets find out what the majority says. EVERYONE: ON INDIANA JONES, IN THE QUEUE LINE, WHEN YOU JIGGLE THE WARPED POLE IN THE ROOM WITH THE SPIKES, DOES THE CEILING DROP AT ALL WHEN THE LOUD CRASH HAPPENS?
Check these sites out: http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/Disneyland/Secrets/Adventure/Mara.html

if you want another opinion I would suggest finding Masterchief and ask him.
he is the resident authority on the ride and will know the right answer.
In the 11 years I have rode IJA I have not once seen the roof drop.
however, as the ride is constantly in disrepair, anything could be possible.

It does drop. I once asked a CM and he said that because it's overworked so much, the ceiling effect doesn't work 100% of the time. It works every once in a while, depending on your luck.
I hope they fix this effect, because it's one of the major parts of the queue.

There are two skeletons playing chess in POTC in MK. I know more and I'll post more later. YES the ceiling in the Spike Room does drop. As of about a month ago, the dropping ceiling still remains inoperative. The bamboo pole in question, when the effect it working, stands straight up and down. You are supposed to pull on the pole, the ceiling drops about foot, spikes come out a little, and the pole bends as the ceiling drops. It's been broken for some time (At least a year) that I know of.
Reeder113

Well it was working last August when I went. Believe me, I know because we did it a couple of times in a row because we got a kick out of it. My wife even wanted to try it after she saw it. We had to wait a minute for it to reset itself but it worked again. We watched it fall, then slowly reset itself by going back up slowly with some kind of hydrolic system, then she did it and it fell again. You're right, the internet is wrong a lot, but I've seen it with my own eyes and so did everyone else who was with me. Plus, why do you think there are so many posts on the internet that say it DOES come down? Its not a rumor. You guys either don't pay attention, or its been broken every time you were there. And remember, just like Tyler14man said, VisionsFantastic even says the ceiling falls. http://www.visionsfantastic.com/main.php?page=indy

I heard aboot it at hiddenmickeys.org (and in Daddy B's photo update for Mar/4). just go to hidden mickeys in the parks, click on DL and find fun facts. After that go to IJA andlook for the spike chamber. Look through a few of the paragraphs and someone talks aboot it (I forgot whoo). I'm not sure why Disney wouldn't make it more durable.
--------------------------------------Double post added here.
i wouldnt say they drop they just kinda jolt out like an inch.
but it rarly happens.
The reason why its so rare is because that sometimes the poles broken and CM's shut that room down so the spikes don't work. They even sometimes take the pole out for repair because SO MANY PEOPLE DECIDE TO PULL ON IT 10 TIMES HARDER because the trick is a little slow these days, and some people are just impatient. Thats aboot all I know

Ok, I'm sorry I have to bring this up again, but I need to put it to an end. I found out the truth about the Spike Room in the Indiana Jones queue line. I checked out the Officail "2005 Disneyland Resort Guidebook (50th Anniversary Edition)." On page 66, where its talking about the IJA ride, it says "The fun is in paying no heed to the warnings and letting the spikes FALL where they may." This book was written by the Disney folk, so I guess it does drop when you wiggle the pole. I guess going on the ride 600 times doesn't make anyone an expert, eh?

Yes it is part of the effect. It is called the 'Pepper's Illusion' you light up the item and reflect it on glass. If you don't see the real item it appears as a ghost. The same thing is used in the Haunted Mansion. Like if you look into glass you see yourself, but you are transparent.

Not to start this up again but in IJA, from my understanding the ceiling in the spike room does not actually fall but all the room elements, like the pole, the spikes, the sound, etc. are setup to give you the impression that it has actually dropped. It is an optical/auditory illusion. Just like in the ride when the giant rock is rolling towards you. The car isn't actually backing up but the effect makes it seem very real.
I know many of you probably think I am full of it, and I could be but the one way to prove this is, if you are tall enough to put your hand on the ceiling and close your eyes and have someone pull the pole. You will not feel it move (the spikes move as part of the effect so don't hold one of those).
So, to sum up, if you are in the room and looking at it, by all accounts it will move. If you are touching it you will find that it doesn't move.
It is a great effect, I'll give you that. Imagineers rule.

Indiana Jones hidden things
Indiana Jones has a fake gas engine "generating" the power for the lights. These lights flicker the whole time, EXCEPT when the ride breaks down. When the ride breaks down, the lights go solid and strong. Later, when the ride goes back on, the lights start flickering again
The markings by the two drinking fountains read "Only one spring will restore youth and vigor. Choose wisely
If you look at the floor when Indy is holding back the Gates of Doom, you will notice that it is being supported by risers and you can see the concrete floor about 1-2 feet below them
All the pictures or statues of Mara in the queue, Mara has his eyes closed, but during the ride, all of the pictures and statue he has his eyes open
There is a scarab beetle on the ceiling in the Obelisk Area http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/21038-IJScarab.gif
Where Indy is desperately trying to hold the gates shut, you are supposed to see figures of snakes and other horrible beasts behind him, but the effect doesn't work correctly. Instead all you see from behind the Gates of Doom is a greenish glow. http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/21038-indy04s.jpg
Star Tours
If you look above you when the carts with the robot parts are passing by, in one of the carts there is a stuffed Ewok. Its cute but hard to spot http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/21038-EWOK.jpg
Innoventions
Takes a bit of a stretch of the imagination to see his whole body, but it can definitely be seen as a Goofy nose facing to the right. A globe sitting on a pedastol on the Entertainment Zone platform

YES!!!!!!! I was waiting for someone to notice it! Here is a list of the things (you must watch the show to understand):
1. Golden thimble from Non-existent ninth floor episode with clothing store dolls are real.
2. Broken stopwatch from episode where guy can stop time but then brakes it and is stuck in paused time for eternity.
3. Red child's phone from episode with kid contacting dead grandmother.
4. Camera from episode where guy can takes pictures of the picture.
5. Typewriter from episode where all electronic devices tell guy to leave house.
6. electronic Shaver from episode where shaving devices follow and try to kill guy.
7.I think there's one more, but I'm not sure!
